  • "I often celebrate birthdays at Asiate. The pre-ordered flowers and birthday cake were superb, as was the food .... as always. The staff are the very best I've ever experienced: sophisticated, polite, helpful, beautifully dressed."

  • "A stunning restaurant and setting, which always delivers. I dined with my wife and sister, who was visiting from London, and it never fails to impress. One of my favorite views in the world, and the food and service perfectly complement the setting."

  • "this is an excellent spot to enjoy great cuisine and some awesome views of central park and midtown manhatten. coming to mandarin oriental spare us having to go to empire state building or on the top of rockefeller for some allowed 15 minutes of view- like this we could dine in an elegant setting and had great views. very tentative service, plenty of delicious amuse bouche before your ordered meal arrived. highly recommendable for lovers of fusion cuisine. great food in nice and very quiet ambiance with excellent service."

  • "My friend and I enjoyed lunch a lot. Unfortunately it rained on the day, but my friend and I could enjoy lunch time by delicious food and very scenic view. Staff service was also great."

  • "I first booked to have a wonderful view from the top of Marriot at Columbus Circle, but the manager didnt saw my requests, that was a table by the window. First we agreed to have the most far away table of the whole place, but in the condition that he would move us as soon as a table by the window gets available. The service and the food were really good, but we never saw again the manager and even our promised table. I found it a really lack of attention with the costumers We flew overseas and had only 2 nights in New York, so we choosed Asiate. At least we had the food! But I do not go back there after such treatment."

  • "We went (me and my wife), for her 50th birthday, and all was wonderfull. We arrive from Italy just a few hours ago, and we arrive to the Hotel by walking (it was a surprise for my wife!) form Times Square. Food outstanding, and we are italian...believe me! :-) wonderful atmosphere, very good service. Well, about the price... "is not to be done each day" but for a special occasion is the right place! Thank you so much, we'll never forget!"

  • "I've heard a lot about Asiate and I decided to go there but the result was not good. The best thing about Asiate is the view.... Food without taste and a week service - they are trying to be a great restaurant charging a higher price.... Only this !!"

  • "Hard to top the view from this restaurant, overlooking Columbus Circle. The tasting was just fair. One of the seafood dishes was over salted but the other was pretty good."

  • "Great view. Food and service met expectations. Affordable lunch menu but pay attention to extras! We paid 22$ for 2 coffees..."

  • "Asiate sits 35 floors above New York with a splendid view over Central Park so it has an immediate wow factor. The Mandarin experience is up to their usual high standards of food quality, service and style. My wife and I had as requested a table near the window. We had the tasting menu with the tasting wine selection which we would highly recommend . The staff were very attentive. A great way to spend our last night in New York!"

  • "The food was good, but was served cold which was very disappointing when paying $30 for breakfast. I had requested to be sat near the window (having booked a few weeks in advance as I had a friend visiting), but we were seated in the middle I the restaurant, even though there were many free tables by the window throughout. Terrible service from the lady who served us, who even began taking my plate away when I clearly had not finished - with both cutlery still I'm my hands eating! We had a 9am reservation, yet felt like we were being rushed out by our server. It was also evident that our server knew she had acted appallingly as she put an automatic gratuity on our bill - a table of 2, not a table of 6+ like the menu states. Awful experience"

  • "An outstanding scenic view and a dedicated staff! I decided to bring my partner there for breakfast after this gem was recommended by friends in Canada. We were not let down! It was truly amazing to see the sun rising and shining on Central Park. We both had the Japanese breakfast: intriguing, well presented, but not exquisite. That was not a disappointment as we knew we were not going there just for the food, but mostly for the view, the atmosphere, and the service. Next time we're in the city, we're *absolutely* going to be returning. Thanks for this truly wonderful experience! A magnificent (and romantic!) start to a day in NYC!"

  • "I went for the tasting menu as the Asiate is known for this. It consists of 7 courses most of which are outstanding. However, tastes differ so my hit list of courses will likely differ to others. The sobi noodles, caviar and uni cream was an exquisite intense flavour of the sea and the Wagyu (identical to the Kobi breed of cattle) beef just melted in the mouth and was complimented with a smoked potato purée and red wine reduction. I left the restaurant without any qualms about the >$200 bill. If you visit New York it would be a crime to miss this experience that just happens to have the best view in the city!!!!!!!!"

  • "Asisate is as good as it gets for lunch on a sunny spring day overlooking Central Park. Room is great, service is discrete and efficient and food is fresh, inventive and presented well. Fixed price lunch is a bargain at $35."

  • "The duck was outstanding, I will certainly come back to try other dishes The view is amazing"

  • "I would recommend Asiate for the view, the ambience, and for the excellent service. However, the food was surprisingly uninspiring (with the exception of deserts, which were exellent), and the portions were kid sized. Highly overprices for the quality/taste of food you are getting. Still, I would come back, if only for the nice place to spend an evening with a friend. Also, to charge $9 for a cup of coffee is insulting, But that's just my opinion."

  • "great view, depending on the side you are facing. Service was attentive and the food was well prepared. The Hawaiian Blue Prawn appetizer is enough to share, so good portions. Both the lamb and duck were well prepared; good duck is hard to find. If you plan to have a long lunch, get there early and ask the host to have a table at the lounge next door available at 3PM. If you want to do a lighter fare, the lounge may be a better and more cost effective option. The cocktails are pricy."

  • "You are not just paying for the view. The food is absolutely fantastic. The service was great. The Duck was exceptional. Wife and I totally loved it."

  • "Good experience: service, quality of food, ambience, etc. They accomodated without any difficulty a special diet from my wife. I only do not give them 100% excelence because the breads from the basket were not warm in the first round. Second round, not cold, but also not warm enough. Everything else perfect."

  • "Took my boyfriend here while we were visiting NYC. The food was excellent and the view superb. However, I was disappointed that my request for a table by the window was not met even after I had emailed and called for the request during my reservation. Overall I would still give it 5 stars. Worth every penny."

  • "My sister and I dined at Asiate after shopping most of the day for a wedding dress. The host and hostess were so kind to fulfill our request of a window table. The evening was lovely, as the restaurant treats all of its patrons with superb service. The food was delicious ( including the beginning tastes from the chef ), the wine perfectly paired. This is my 5th time at Asiate… and I will be back. Linda Walsworth"

  • "Probably our 6th evening visit. Food was very good--when it came, which was problematic. About 45 minutes between removing course one and serving course two. Wait staff largely indifferent; they were not unduly stressed by the demands of other diners. The manager on duty, however, was very solicitous when I expressed my annoyance; she seemed genuinely concerned. We'll return, but a bit warier and perhaps more demanding."

  • "Wonderful view over Central Park and Columbus Circle if you get a table near the windows. Service was very attentive and the food delicious: a wild mushroom soup that had a real flavor and Wagyu beef that was tender and juicy."

  • "We were celebrating our 5th anniversary and had arrived at the Mandarin fairly late. We had a 9PM reservation. We were greeted with kindness and were led to a corner table. In my mind it was the best table in the house. They clearly had remembered our occasion. The food was exquisite, interesting, and a true culinary experience. We were surprised by the Anniversary dessert they provided. You could not go wrong here."

  • "After expensive drinks and "brunch menu" there was an additional $9 charge for each very ordinary coffee. As we were a party of four that was $28.00 for the pot."
    Dined on 3/9/2014
  • "We sat at a table in an alcove. Great for privacy but that meant we did not have the view that is part of the Asiate experience in my mind."

  • "elegant service, attentive. food is excellent and interestingly spiced. Very difficult to get a window table, even when there are empty tables there. Very, very costly. try prix fixe lunch NS"

  • "A lovely experience-excellent food, service, etc. Not snobby or pretentious for such a high end restaurant. Would highly recommend. However, probably not one's every day dining experience as it is pricey, but definitely a special occasion place"
