Asador restaurant, created by Celebrity Chef Dean James Max, focuses on sustaining modern farm to fire cuisine merging influences that stem from our local Texas purveyors, mixed with the food combinations of North and South America and based on open fire cooking.

Our cuisine is the merger from influences that stem from our local Texas purveyors, to the flavors of North and South America and based on open flame cooking. We are a casual restaurant that strives to provide fine dining service, incredibly fresh food, and reasonable prices.

Our modernism is reflected in many different aspects such as our focus on all fresh products made in house with no fillers or preservatives. We buy all natural meats and poultry, sustainable seafood, and as much locally fresh produce as possible.

  • "The food here was amazing; however the entree portions were SO SMALL that it was really disappointing. The tuna poke appetizer tasted INCREDIBLE, I just about inhaled it and it was a good size. The cavatelli entrée was perfection but I was really sad when I took my last bite, because it was that good..and that small. I am really particular about my pasta dishes because a creamed base sauce is really hard to get right and in my opinion they lack flavor more times than not. Not this one! The s’more dessert was good too but honest I was just so hangry about the entrée being really small that I felt like I couldn't fully enjoy it. I almost contemplated purchasing another three course meal just to leave satisfied."

  • "Went for restaurant week. Took the server 15 mins to arrive to our table. When he finally showed up they had gone out of my first choice of first course meal, so opted to go with just the regular menu. Ordered a $15dlls hamburger with egg?? I mean fine they want to keep it original but an egg on a hamburger?? Server was terrible he seemed very un patient, so the whole experience was ruined for us. The cocktail I had ordered (which was the special in the Rest Week's menu was good but I doubt it had any alcohol on it. I took two to swallow the bad experience and it never kicked! ha! Not even worth a second try!"

  • "I was really surprised by the quality of food. Although we went there for Restaurant Week, we decided not to go with the menu, but to go with the hamburger......which turned out to be huge! The quality of meat was excellent, I only wish they had grilled my onions. The banana pudding in a jar is to die for and I ate every bit; I usually don't do desert, but this caught my attention and it was WELL WORTH IT."

  • "I have been coming to their brunches for a long time, but I had not been for dinner. The food is unique and really good. They have a "from the farm to the table" theme and every dish I have had has been really good. I had the steak and the fish; both dishes were cooked really well and had great flavors."

  • "Having been to Asador for an exceptional dinner in the past, we were eager to try their restaurant week lunch offerings. However, the food was a mere shadow of our previous experience. Every course and dish was poorly executed. The cucumber soup was unbearably peppery, the plum salad had 3 slivers of plum hidden under a mountain of greens, and the brisket sandwhich was dry.Desserts were no better-- the banana cream pie was gritty and the ice crram trio was delivered to us with 2 out of 3 of the samples completely melted. Finally, there was extensive construction going on above us, with constant drilling and hammering."

The flavors and combinations were truly superb. We absolutely loved and devoured every bite from appetizer through dessert! The restaurant also has delicious cocktails, local beers on tap and an extensive tequila list."

  • "The mussels were magnificent. What flavor!! Wood fired filet was off the charts. Soft shell crab was delightful. I travel and eat out often and Asador is a hidden gem. Kudos to Chef Brad!!!"

  • "The food was excellent, as a matter of fact we were on a short trip to Dallas and chose to eat at the restaurant two nights in a row, I ordered the same dish, Flat Iron Steak with a stuffed onion, delicious!! Now, those buns were awesome, a must have as an appetizer or just to eat along with your dinner."

  • "Everything is supposed to be local and organic, although salmon was on the menu. There were four at our table and none of us were impressed with the food which was very pricy and greasy. The service was very good. Also, it always annoys me when their are cones on the all the parking spaces and you are forced to use valet parking, especially when the restaurant was almost empty."

  • "The restaurant is quite nice and we liked the farm to fire concept. grilled jalapeno peppers are really nice. That was a highlight to me. Tenderloin I had are juicy and tender but the burned crust was not my thing. Wine is is relatively short for such place and, in my opinion was not the best. Brunello was unpleasantly acidic although had a price tag of 150 USD. Petit Sirah for $45 from CA was good. Wine list has a great advantage of having a lot of wines by the glass. Overall: worth attention. I need to try other steaks they have."

  • "Everything about this restaurant was great! The ambiance was well done with moderate lighting, modern/chic furnishings, and an open dining space. The food was outstanding! You should order the rolls for an appetizer. I ordered the bass, which was cooked to the perfect temperature and very tender. My wife ordered the tenderloin. It was cooked to perfection in the middle. Finally, we ordered cinnamon ice cream. Once again, outstanding; it had a smooth creamy texture we didn't expect. Funny enough, the highlight of the evening was actually the bathrooms. They had a salt exfoliant at the sinks that my wife fell in love with (I'll set aside my machismo to say that I liked it, too). Pick up a jar of it from the hotel gift shop."

  • "Asador's food was excellent, the service was also very good. The only drawback is the fact that you are basically in a hotel lobby. If you're going to stay a night at the Renaissance--then I highly recommend it. It was a little too loud for a "romantic" dinner but that's probably not the case most nights--I'm sure they had live music just for Valentine's Day--don't get me wrong, the singer/ pianist was good--just too loud. Overall it was good because of the food and the service but we probably won't return unless we're staying at the hotel for a very special occasion."

  • "First, this restaurant is not in Downtown. Second, it is in the lobby of the Renaissance Hotel which was not mentioned on the website. Third, dinner menu options left a lot to be desired. Forth, the flat iron steak had a huge tendon running through it making it very difficult to cut, much less eat. We will not be back."

  • "My family had a wonderful dinner at Asador for New Year's Eve. We were a group of eight with three kids, and we were seated comfortably and promptly. Our server was warm and friendly, assisting us with special requests and always making sure we had everything we needed. From appetizers to courses the food was outstanding - between the eight of us we chose various meals and each was prepared to perfection. Overall a great experience, and we'd love to return next time we are in Dallas."

  • "Recently treated my office staff to a Holiday lunch. Made reservations and we were promptly greated and seated. The lunch menue was on a one sided 6X5 inch card and contained about two unimpressive choices in the usual categories. It was embarrassing for such a nice place and we were all very disappointed. Not at all like the menue shown on the web site. I asked for the full menue and was told it wasn't available until 2:00pm! Won't make that mistake again."

  • "We really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was outstanding and very clever. From start to finish, we were thrilled. The only problem is the location. It's in a hotel so there is food on the menu towards kids and adults. There were some small children in the restaurant but the four of us weren't interested in anything else but talking to each other so it wasn't bad. If this restaurant would be in a different location in Dallas and not in a hotel….omg everyone would love it! Yes, we would go back."

One of the best ive had around. Menu is interesting...not you normal. But you don't go to a place like this for "normal". Overall good experience."

  • "The recommendations and answers provided by Allen, the waiter, were excellent ones. He looked to the host for guidance on how to progress the dinner and the dinner clean up--a rare gem in USA eating out. The food and drink was delicious; used local foods; and the meal was not rushed. Our business guests were impressed and they felt as they were royalty. i will be returning the Asador on my next Dallas visit."

  • "One of my few non-recommendations... The atmosphere & ambiance at Asador was great. Parking was easy and our server was friendly and attentive. He even found me a Diet Dr. Pepper in a the hotel's Pepsi world. Pepsi... really? Our salads, on the other hand were neither memorable nor exceptional and way overpriced. We had the chopped salad and baby romaine salad - each about $12. But, then add fish and/or chicken and the price soared to almost $20 each. That's one pricey salad, even for a hotel restaurant. If I'm paying $20 for a salad, it better be sensational, not just baby romaine, croutons, parmesan, and dressing with a sliced chicken breast. Finally, the jalapeño Caesar dressing was a little light on flavor and needed citrus."

The servings and food selections were ample. I wish more diners had dressed up a bit more. I feel shorts and über casual wear is not appropriate for a place if that caliber and lessened the fining experience for others."

  • "Four of us dined at this restaurant for restaurant week and were able to try all the entrees and appetizers. Enjoyed the choices and especially like the fact they purchase most all their food from with 200 miles of Dallas utilizing local farmers and seasonal items. They also have a mixolgist available to create any martini you'd like! The only negative, I think they were a bit short staffed (went on a Monday night) as the service was slow. Worth a try during restaurant week for sure!"

  • "My husband and I try new places for Restaurant week every year. Most of the time is an ok experience, just a couple of times we have left looking forward for an opportunity to come back. This year Asador is our first place and they wow us. The service, the place, the food, the portions, the attention to details and the unexpected conversation with Chef Brad Phillips whose passion on what he does is absolutely contagious. We will be back....soon."
