Overall my experience at arugula was very mediocre. The food showed potential but was not executed properly. Our server gave me the impression that we were a burden to her. For me the the experience i thought i would have.

First Bite Boulder enabled us to come here for a year anniversary dinner. The food was outstanding, and we left full--something I was a little worried about. Our server was energetic and recommended a very good white wine for us. We will definitely come back again; hopefully at First Bite next year :)

I had not eaten at Arugula since the year it opened when I was underwhelmed by the food and service. Some friends recently told me that Arugula is one of their favorites in Boulder. I returned for another dinner there this past week (November, 2014) and was delighted. The food was very good, the service was perfect, and I very much enjoyed the relatively quiet and friendly feel of Arugula. I will be back again soon.

We had three courses- a salad, an antipasti (starter) and an entree, and all were EXCELLENT! Very impressive and diverse menu- it took us time to choose from the many options. The homemade mozerrella and pesto (with tomato relish) were very good and the rabbit gnocci was the best pasta dish I have had anywhere in Boulder. The service was also highly professional.

My husband and I had dinner here. Overall, the food was pretty good, but the portions were small. I had sea bass with Brussels sprouts, bacon and potato hash. I think I had the equivalent of one Brussels sprout and one baby potato on my plate, and I'm not exaggerating. The fish was a modest portion, but for $26, I was expecting more. My husband had the pan seared beef tenderloin, and for $32, he got about a 4-5oz piece of tenderloin, and a small portion of potatoes and vegetables. Again, we were expecting more for the price. Also, our server made us feel uncomfortable. He wasn't very friendly, and he seemed impatient. I honestly wouldn't recommend this place to my friends.

Our experience at the restaurant was interesting. When we arrived for our reservation there was an open booth. However we were not allowed to be seated due to it being set aside for another reservation who had not yet arrived. We waited in an unused bar area for about an hour even though we were promised our table would be ready in minutes. Well it wasn't. They were obviously frantic, and offered to seat us in the empty bar with some rambunctious college students who had walked in. They gave us a glass of Champagne when we sat down which was a nice gesture, but one person wasn't drinking and another doesn't drink champaign. It also appeared to be a lack luster apology. However the service was up to par and the food was good.

We have enjoyed Arugula many times in the past--the food is always good and the decor is great, but the service has really been slipping. We were promptly seated, but it took a long time for our waitress to stop by for drink order. Then it took a long time to get the drinks--she dropped them off and went somewhere else. The bread and water took forever to arrive as well. At the end of the meal, it took a long time for her to notice we were done--by that time coffee and dessert seemed like too much of a gamble. The waitress was brusque, the food server was non-communicative and clearly rushed. There are too many great restaurants in Boulder for us to spend our time and money at a place that doesn't make us feel good about being there.

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Arugula over the weekend. From the outside, the restaurant seems pretty unassuming. However, once through the front door we were taken by the elegant and yet, relaxed atmosphere. Much of the menu is comprised of food that is locally sourced and freshly made (even the pasta). Fantastic cocktails and wine list, great food, and attentive but not intrusive service. Highly recommend to couples. Not so kid friendly and that was okay with us!

One of the reasons I like restaurant week, is that it allows me to try new places. I usually try out restaurants in Denver, but wanted to expand outside of Denver this time and it was worth it. My husband and I were pleased with the large number of items to choose from on the restaurant week menu. Our waiter was attentive, the three courses were the perfect size, the ingredients were fresh and I enjoyed the flavor combinations in each of the dishes I chose. My husband was also happy with his choices. We both chose seafood main courses and were very pleased with our choices.

Maybe it was a result of restaurant week, but our experience with the food was very different than what we've experienced in the past. The appetizers were good but our pasta was only luke warm and my husband's steak was not properly cooked and was a very small and sinewy piece of meat. The waiter was very apologetic and offered to bring something else but it was late at that point so we accepted a free dessert of cheese cake that was fantastic. Despite this mediocre experience we do intend to return as we hope this was just a fluke.

I enjoyed the wild salmon which was nicely prepared and served. Over all the menu is a little pricy for lunch unless you order a salad or sandwich. They have a lovely patio. It is nicely decorated with flower pots at varying levels to try to mask the parking lot. I would definitely recommend you give it a try.

Our food was very good, way better than I could cook, but nothing I would return for. Our waiter was polite, but barely spoke, didn't tell us about specials or recommendations. The busboys were outstanding. We got more assistance from them than we did our waiter. Ordered the crabcakes that were just okay. There was a pork tenderloin that was wonderful, and the roasted red pepper risotto was very good also.
