Diner Reviews
  • "This is a very pretty place, but the food we had was only fair and priced high considering lack of quality. 2 out of 3 entrees were not very good, mine, the lagostines, we're just okay."

  • "We dined on a Monday evening during a downpour. They had a good crowd for a Monday. Our waiter seemed distracted - he appeared to have tables scattered about the restaurant. He was pleasant, if a tad soft-spoken. We threw him a curve by asking for a carafe to let our bottle of pinot breathe, but he persevered and found something suitable, battling patiently with the overly brittle cork, and straining out the errant pieces. (Note to management: proper wine carafes and strainers should be de rigueur for an upscale BYOB, and your staff should not be thrown by such a request.) He was slow to return to the table to take our order, but I blame geography for that. (continued)"

  • "I treated a friend to lunch and it was her first time at the restaurant - not mine. Both of us liked the atmosphere of the room. The waiters were very pleasant and friendly. The food was delicious! The price is reasonable also. I recommend this restaurant to lovers of Italian food."

  • "Took a large group of friends. Good food, offering both familiar and inventive choices. Attentive service. I had the salad special -- a grain salad with cucumbers and tomatoes ( real tomatoes, with actual flavor and everything ) that was very good, and then their risotto with mushrooms, also excellent. Heard no complaints from the others in the group. Plus, as a BYOB, everyone got a full dining experience for under $40. Very enjoyable."

  • "Arugula was adorable! Had great ambiance and the service was wonderful. The veal was only okay and the linguine with clams and shrimp (they ran out of mussels) was "good." Will go back but may try an Italian staple next time."

  • "Arugula is a very nice looking restaurant with a nice, accommodating staff. Very loud dining room with a serious upgrade in air conditioning needed. All Salads were excellent as was the grilled octopus. Entrees need work. Sent one back out of our group of 10. I think it should improve with time. Veal Milanese was very bland and not crispy as the Milanese should be. Pasta dishes seemed better than meats. Has potential and outside seating looks good."

  • "We enjoyed very much the first time, but this time, food not quite as good, service mixed, forgetting items, not refilling waters, check on set ups for wine, etc. Just sloppy, desserts limited"

  • "If the weather is nice it is ideal for outdoor dining despite not having a great view. The food is fantastic, the service couldn't be better and it is a BYOB! Can't wait to go back. Oh, and they have great gluten free pasta!!!"

  • "4 in our party. Very good food. We ordered several appetizers, 4 salads and 4 entrees. After a somewhat long wait, the appetizers arrived at the same time the salads were served. Given the small size of the dining table, not a good idea. Would have preferred the apps came first; did not think to mention this, since the is the usual sequence at most restaurants. Noise level was almost unbearable! In the same dining room (although not completely full) was a table of 14-18 (?) people and it made for an uncomfortable noise level. If we return to Arugula we will only book a table if there is not a large table party scheduled at the same time as our reservation."

  • "Your greeter is a 20 something that tries to put us at lousy table on a not busy Monday night. To me that's insulting. Our server didn't speak clearly or loud enough. My wife couldn't understand him. In the reservation you asked if it was a special occasion. It was. My wife's 50th birthday. There was no acknowledgement. At all. And lastly. My crab ravioli was extremely salty. I couldn't finish it. You asked."

  • "Never thought that a restaurant would fit in housing development but it's a good spot it's beautiful inside and the food was really good. They cook to accommodate which is great for me!!"

  • "The first time we went to Argula, the sevice was good and the food was delicious. This time, we had a hard time hearing our sever, who took the order, and then never came back to the table, to ask how the food was, and did we want another drink, or anything. In fact my mother-in-law did not get the item she ordered? So when our food was brought by someone else, we told them, and they did make it up quickly. When they came to clear the table, the young man asked us if we wanted any coffee or dessert, not our server, and we told him, we had not seen her since she took our order. It was a very unpleasant experience, since we had just been there the week before."

  • "Went on a fairly busy Monday night. Tables who came in later than us were served before we were. When we asked what happened to our entrees (after 1 1/2 hours), we were told it would be "a few more minutes". After 10+ minutes, the ladies decided to leave. With so many other good Italian restaurants in the area, I'd think twice before dining here."

  • "first time to Arugula . would definitely want to try it again a little on the noisy level with sitting close to the Kitchen The waiter did tells us that the Entrees would take time to come out , which was good . did not have one of the dishes on the Menu that i wanted to order . will come back to check out the outdoor patio area ."

  • "The food was just okay....the noise level was ridiculous. I could not hear any of the conversation at the table. The waiter was not attentive at all. I had to ask the busboy to get somebody to open our wine as we sat with no wine for 15 minutes. I would NOT recommend this restaurant."

  • "This was a recommendation from our daughter in law. We just moved to this area and do not have a good list of restaurants so we went with our neighbor. It is quite a find. The reservation was for 7:15 and we were greeted and seated immediately. The food was absolutely superb along with the presentation. The menu had ample of selections and the prices were reasonable for today's food costs. Everyone in our party agreed that the food was superb and we will all be back in a few weeks. In fact we may try brunch for Father 's Day"

  • "Arugula is a beautiful restaurant. Sadly the chef doesn't believe in seasoning his food. I had linguine pescatore in which the mussels wear chewy and sandy, the clams did not all open, there was one piece of whole garlic in the bowl, the broth had no flavor, the pasta was cooked without salt in the water. Sadly we shall not return."

  • "We were excited to try a neighborhood restaurant only to find the food fair. My salmon was very bland. My daughters gluten free pasta wasn't cooked enough. My dad's veal was like cardboard. "

  • "The food at Arugula is outstanding but the noise level is so high you can't hear the person sitting across from you. And the service is horrible. The first time I was there the waiter was very attentive in the beginning and then he disappeared. We ended up getting a complimentary dessert. The 2nd time the waiter took 45 minutes to take our order and their "rule" is to not bring bread until the menus are off the table. Then everything was very slow coming out. The food is excellent but I won't be going back."

  • "Artichoke appetizer and beet salad were outstanding! Overall, the food was good, the servers were pleasant & accommodating, and we would recommend Arngula EXCEPT for the LOUD NOISE. As the restaurant filled up, it got louder & louder and was difficult to hear my friend across the table! Is it too late to soften the noise ??? If so, it will certainly become the great neighborhood gem!!"

  • "Went to Arugula Cold Point Monday night, dinner for two. Very nice design, clean and all new construction in a nice location. It was a Monday night but there was about 20 people there. 2 large groups for dinner and some smaller tables filled. Our server introduced himself took our drink orders and immediately explained it was one of those nights. SERVICE: hardly noticed anyone attending to the tables not the best, not the worst. FOOD: the kitchen buzzed with activity as dish after dish was prepared. Our order was served fast and hot and both meals were fair to good. Risotto and duck sausage was good. Other dish fair. Not complicated meals, these dishes could have also been prepared at home. Overall nothing to write home about 5 out of 10"

  • "Exceeded expectations - and mine are high! We has the artichoke appetizer (a little pricey) but better even than the ones we had in Rome last year. The table bruschetta was amazing as well! You could immediately tell EVERYTHING was fresh and prepared by people who wanted to provide the best. The wait staff was exactly what you would want: attentive, knowlegable, polite and eager to make your visit a good one without being intrusive. Will definately go again!"

  • "We dined on a Saturday night. We made last minute reservations & was able to get a 9PM table. We recently moved from Boston and have been trying to find a local spot to call our own. This restaurant was okay....not bad, but not great. The mussels in tomato sauce were bland and needed more spices. The Arugala Insalata with goat cheese and artichokes was delish! My husband had the crab ravioli special and I had shrimp & scallop pasta dish. Both were mediocre. The one complaint we have is that it is VERY loud! We are in our early 30's and enjoy a vibrant scene, but this was one of the loudest restaurants I've ever been to. Compared to other city restaurants this one is almost too loud to hear your dining companion. "
