  • "We went to Artisan before going to the Music Center/Ahmanson and really had one of our best meals ever downtown! The Dine LA 3-Course Meal was delicious and the atmosphere was terrific. The Deli/wine/beer connected to the restaurant is really nice, but they should allow you to purchase the wine/beer at the store and drink it for dinner or lunch with no corkage fee! We had a wonderful time! Larry and Julie Blivas"

  • "The options on the Dine LA menu are not even on the regular menu. Nothing was good, presentation was terrible, they forgot the cookie in the dessert, the whole experience was not a good one. The had a cool bar. I would only go back there for happy hour after work if they offered discounts on their specialty cocktails."

  • "The indoor space was very pleasant -- a small market on one side, a pretty bar with regular and family style tables on the restaurant side, and what appeared to be a nice patio (which is where we opted to sit). Our server was…disinterested (no eye contact, no pleasantries, mostly monosyllabic). The food (roasted brussell sprouts, the quinoa and steak salads) were fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we'd hoped. The wine was lackluster -- a surprise, given the venue looked like a wine bar. I think one of the biggest issues we had were the constant and occasionally aggressive interruptions to the meal by local group of homeless men who would walk up to the patio to request money, demand food, and generally busk. Yeah…skip the patio."

  • "Came here for lunch and tried their DineLA menu. Best thing was the starter...crab salad...which both my friend and I had. The steak frites I had was bland. My friend's paella was undercooked. Then there was dessert. I had the peach sorbeto which was too sweet for me. The ice cream sandwich my friend had was terrible. The fig ice cream it came with was nonexistent. She said the cookie was good but had only ordered it for the fig ice cream. Worse of all was when we brought it to the waitress's attention she just brushed it off. And that pretty much is how the service was all lunch...poor. The place seems pretty cool with its industrial vibe. May be good at night for drinks. But probably won't be coming back."

  • "I had always heard such good things about Artisan House so I was excited to try it during Dine LA week. The prix fixe 3-course menu was very nice and I ended up choosing the Crab Salad, Vegetarian Paella, and Sorbeto with Berries. All were good, but didn't really live up to the "hype" that I'd heard about this restaurant. Maybe going for the prix fixe Dine LA menu wasn't a smart way to go. Still, the thing that ruined our experience was the wait staff. The dining room was about 25% full and yet we could not get anyone to bring us extra condiments. We asked three people, four times, and we finally got the condiments at the end of our meal - literally as they were clearing the dishes from our table. Absolutely unacceptable."

  • "My experience at Artisian House on 7/12/14 was mixed. Upon arrival, the parking situation was poor. there was no valet service as indicated in a review I had read. Ended up using the Valet service of a hotel down the street. The food was good - pizza margherita, rack of lamb, and sea bass, however our main courses came to the table very slow - approximately 40 minutes after ordering - and the place was not even busy. Afterwards, my guest and I ordered lattes to complete the meal. Several minutes later the server returned to tell us that it would "be a while because the deli side is very busy". We cancelled the lattes. As we left the restaurant we observed that there was no one at all on the deli side."

  • "My partner and I made a last-minute date and found this spot via OpenTable. I have Celiac Disease, so I always keep an eye out for gluten-free offerings. This place had an incredible selection of artisan pizzas and pasta dishes with gluten-free alternatives! The building and ambiance were outstanding and the food was delicious. Great selection of wine & beer as well."

  • "A group of 3 of us decided to give this place a try to start our Downtown LA Art Walk experience. It was so great that we decided our day was already a success even if we couldn't find any art galleries. The food was to die for. The pizzas are delicious, especially the bur rata and zucchini blossoms one. The truffle oil fries were great. We had great veggies too, including the arugula carciofi salad and the brussel sprouts. We had so much food, we couldn't finish it all, but we kept trying. Great service and great location too. This is a real find."

  • "We enjoyed a fun pre-theater early dinner. The burrata squash blossom pizza was very good, and the people watching was great. The newly installed restaurant is in an old brick and wood space with large windows and lots of light and has a lot of character. It's very comfortable."

  • "Very well done. Fresh and sometimes inventive versions of classics, with a very nice wine list. I didn't have a cocktail, but the list looked well put together by a talented mixologist, but not too extreme. Delicious truffle beet and feta salad, among the plates we had. Great place if you want to bring your dog and sit outside."

  • "Great food and ambience . Beautifully decorated with wood and exposed brick. Large wine selection. Good size portions reasonably priced. Loved the mix of dining and bar scene. Always thought it was great to the neighborhood change from ghost town to a bustling area with lots of people walking around and more business open at night, also lots of parking if coming from out of town."

  • "Great ambiance: restored interior in a historic building in Downtown LA, high ceilings and lots of vintage touches, yet very contemporary. Friendly service and a pretty extensive, mainly American, menu. Salmon was very flavorful and moist, and the pasta was perfect."

  • "The brick building with loads of windows and outside seating is very welcoming with a little shop that would look at home in an upscale neighborhood in NYC or Paris! The lovely dark hardwood floors, exposed brick and comfy tables just really fit with the theme they were going for an artisan store/restaurant with a casual upscale bohemian feel. I grabbed a burger with regular fries and she the turkey club with parmesan (I think some sort of white hard cheese). The waiter was very nice and handsome (score one for us .. eye candy) and they have a good menu that appeals to any american bistro mood you might be in. Well I have to say as watched them make a pasta dish in a giant wheel of cheese to a bit of food envy! "

  • "Hands down the food was well prepared and delicious. I had the grass fed burger with fires. Burger was tasty and prepared perfect to my order. The siracha aioli that accompanied the fries was fantastic! My friend ordered the club sandwich. It was HUGE and looked quite tasty! Note that happy hour prices on well drinks is till 7pm . Score! Lots of bad smack on here about the service made me worried. Ahmanson season ticket holders who like to try new places without worrying or rushing to make curtain. My worries were unfounded primarily due to the attentive service of Vidal. He was friendly and pretty efficient but needs to check in with his tables a bit more frequently. It was hard grabbing his attention. Def return in store!"

  • "I first dined at Artisan House in January during DineLA week this year. Ever since I've been eager to return. The return visit did not disappoint. The Doctor of Mixology makes a mean Negroni, so I had to have two. I highly recommend the Baby Arugula and Beet Salad: sweet and lightly dressed, nearly a meal in itself. The Linguine con Vongole tasted better than it presented; if I have to choose between the two, that's the way I prefer. I'll be back."

  • "This use to be an empty space, from time to time it would be used for art exhibitions it's great to see that it's now a restaurant and a high end market. The decor is lovely, the patio seating is great! The music was too loud for the space! They need to work on more speakers, the poor waitress couldn't hear us upon orderig. We had to repeat ourselfs several times. Overall we'll be back! "

  • "I've been to quite a few places for brunch (my favorite meal of the day) and Artisan has to be one of my favorites. When you order Bottomless, they make damn sure ya glass stays bottomless. Great staff, good food, and even a brunch buffet....Brillz! Love love love!"

  • "This restaurant is in my apartment building, yet I almost never eat there because it's so inconsistent. However, the grill on the patio smelled so amazing we decided to give it a try and made reservations for later that day. We had to wait 30 min even though we had a res, the hostess was clearly overwhelmed - but pleasant once we got her attention. Our waiter disappeared for long periods of time, and we had to enlist the bus boy to get us water, drinks, etc. The food was very good - it was a buffet (thank goodness!) so we didn't have to wait for that. Overall I would give Artisan House another try if properly motivated, but it won't be a regular destination for me. There's too much competition in DTLA to settle for just an okay experience. "

  • "Refreshing cocktail went perfect with happy hour crispy fish 'n' chips and skinny fries. Tuna crostini was flavorful. Chicken sausage roll was spicy, delicious and so much fun to eat, because of the snap biting into the casing. Sat outside and listened to the urban-scape that added to the atmosphere. Get desert from the counter - try and the delicious macaroons."

  • "I stumbled across this restaurant several weeks ago when downtown traffic conspired to keep me from going somewhere else. It was exactly what I needed. The menu has a selection that would satisfy anyone including vegetarian and gluten free options along with meat and seafood. Their bar also serves an interesting variety of spirits and tasty specialty cocktails. On top of good food, the atmosphere is quiet enough to hear your companions' conversation. I enjoyed it so much I came back two weeks later with a friend I hadn't seen in ages because we both love good food and drinks but wanted to go somewhere where we could hear each other."

Maybe it was training night for the staff, but they didn't seem on their game and had to be asked multiple times for simple requests. As for the food, it was only "meh" where it had been really good previously."

  • "Not our first time at Artisan House- it was first time reserving through Open Table. Have eaten there several times and always enjoyable until last Sat. night when we were greeted with "you're 9 minutes late." (Charming)-we never knew a table can be reserved and the table we always sat at was reserved- diners arrived late and we learned that there is a table #.(Who knew)? Service was deplorable- we don't know what happened. One soup was served without a spoon. I ordered a salad and then soup- it came at the same time- it was turned back- for the first time the dining experience there was uncomfortable-"

  • "They sat us well before our reservation time, which I appreciated. We were greeted about 10 minutes after we sat down. Appetizers took 45-50 minutes to come out and entrees at least another 20 after that. Both were decent in taste. Dessert was a little more prompt, but I didn't even eat my gluten free chocolate cake because it was so dry. The last time I went to dinner here it was equally as slow and they even got our orders wrong (bringing salads with meat on them to the vegetarians who made their dietary restrictions very clear) We also ordered a bottle of red wine for the table that was hot to the touch when it came out. I really wanted this time to be better, but alas, I don't think I will go back or recommend it. At least for dinner."
