  • "Food too cute, lots of sous vide, but overall a little disappointing"

  • "One of the best restaurants in the San Francisco East Bay! A must-try!"

  • "An innovative and delicious menu with food prepared elegantly. Everything was gourmet, but not fussy or pretentious. Menu items were original, but still classic. The meal was very tasty and satisfying. Great choices and great food. The prix fix dinner is an excellent deal."

  • "We all had the wild salmon, each one of us wanted it done differently and all came out perfect. For dessert we had the special coffee crème Brule, fabulous!"

  • "Went for my daughter's 20th birthday because it's her favorite spot.... mine too! Had the tempura blossoms, beet salad, scallops, and finished it off with the coffee creme brullet."

  • "My wife and I came here for her birthday and we were very happy with the whole of the experience. I made the reservation without my wives name, so when we arrived they asked her name and reprinted a menu with her name on it for her birthday, such a great step of service. Thank you team, keep up the good work."

  • "Delicious cuisine, beautiful service, attention to detail equals perfection."

  • "Artisan Bistro treated us as if we were their only table. They printed my friend's name on the menu to wish her happy birthday. The dessert plate was personalized and the food was fantastic. We will definately go there again for a special occasion."

  • "Artisan has always had great food but Wednesday night's first course was beyound amazing. Instead of the usual chunk of avocado in the middle of the bowl, the chef had prepared a cucumber sorbet which had a touch of sweetness. The combination of the dense, rich tomato soup with the cold, crystalline sorbet was extraordinary. We ate it very, very slowly. What a delicious dinner."

  • "The service was excellent. The food was delicious, artistic looking and beautifully presented. This is a great place for a special occasion. If it's your birthday or a special event, they put your name on the menu--a nice touch."

  • "We loved every bit of our brunch from the perfectly-made lattes to the entrees. Great, attentive service and delicious food. We will return!"

  • "My wife and I went for our wedding anniversary and found out about Artisan from my mother in law who is well educated in fine dining! We were quite comfortable with her choice. The host gave us two choices as to where we would like to be seated as opposed to being told what they had available. We chose the room with the fireplace as it was warm and had great ambiance. The waitress was very attentive and we were very happy with our food choices."

  • "This was our first time here, and we were celebrating our 2 year anniversary. The place is very romantic and the service was wayyyy above average!! Our waitress was great, very personable, and funny too! We enjoyed him so much that we will be asking for him next time we go.. Bring your wallet for the prices are high, but SOOOOOO worth it. The food was unbelievable!!! I cannot say enough about this place. The host is very pleasant and kind. Definitely worth checking this place out. I am so glad we did!"

  • "Charming place, delicious food, relaxed atmosphere!"

  • "I have eaten both lunch and dinner at the Artisan Bistro in the last two weeks. The menus are different but imaginative. The food is delicious. The bartender is very knowledgeable and the staff congenial. All items are made of fresh with recognizable ingredients and appear to be cooked to order. The presentations are attractive, though not show-off arty. I would recommend this restaurant to both simple and sophisticated diners. Both would feel welcome."

  • "We were celebrating my husband's birthday and were looking for a great meal in a setting that invited conversation. Artisan menu is meticulously selected and each dish was carefully crafted and every flavor deliciously matches. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves quality food and enjoys a romantic yet worldly setting."

  • "We now go to Artisan about once a month and love it. If I didn't travel for work so much, it would probably be weekly. The food is great, the service is great, and its just as comfortable dressed-down as it is dressed-up."

  • "Artisan Bistro is located in a former private house with a charming shaded patio (hidden from street view) in the front. The restaurant has several small rooms which feel cozy. All the courses were beautifully presented and were inventive in the combination of ingredients. My only reservation about Artisan is the cost. The delicious dinner for two which included 2 appetizers,2 mains, 1 side, 1 dessert and two glasses of wine was almost $150. We did not order the most expensive items on the menu. This is a "special occasion" restaurant."

  • "Meal was fantastic from start to finish... service, ambiance, and food was all top notch. I had the pleasure of ordering the rib eye. it did not disappoint! Perfectly seasoned and cooked perfectly to my liking!"

  • "This is an excellent restaurant. From the time we stepped in the door until the time we left the restaurant the service was A-one. We never had an empty drink glass. I would highly recommend Artisan Bistro. I can not wait to go back"

  • "I visited Artisan Bistro for the first time for a birthday celebration of a good friend and I must say it was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. The customer service was great, the waiter was attentive and advised us perfectly on the wine and food, the birthday acknowledgement was over the top! And the bread pudding was to die for! We will definitely come here again and recommend it to all our friends."

  • "Worth every penny. Service to food is still talked about by my girlfriend days later. Artisan Bistro is consistently excellent both in food quality and service."

  • "This is a restaurant truly worth trying, regardless of where you live in the greater North Bay/Bay Area. I don't think I have every had better gazpacho even in Spain, and our entrees were really delicious. This is a kitchen that obsiously loves cooking and takes great pride in what comes out. Service was flawless, and our server, Joe, was friendly and very professional. One final word: the wine list is very well put together with a nice range of whites and reds for every taste, and our server had perfect recommendations. If you are in a spirits mood, then the full bar makes a very pleasing Vodka Gimlet and, amazingly enough, Picso Sours, the national cocktail of Peru."

  • "First time here for brunch; excellent beef and lobster salad with adequate portion size; sweet potato fries was as good as before but needed to ask for the special sauce this time; though corn soup was too sweet for my taste"

  • "Artisan Bistro is one of my favorite dining experiences. The food preparation and superb taste makes your dining experience a memorable occasion. The menu choices are excellent. The staff makes you feel like family but give you space to enjoy your time alone. The staff also follows up to make sure you understand every option and are not waiting for the next step. For couples, the atmosphere is very romantic. If you are dining for business purposes, the atmosphere is quiet and your space is not crowded. Artisan is a gem in Lafayette. You should cherish the experience"

  • "From the host to the waiter to the bus boy the attitude and service were very patron-oriented. They went out of their way to even adjust the umbrella to shade us more fully from a hot early evening sun. Our waiter gave very detailed assessments of the appetizers and his recommendation to have the gazpacho was absolutely correct. He also helped to steer us towards an absolutely delicious scallops entrée. He perfectly matched wines for our entrees based on preferences we gave him. A special note, while many restaurants these days insist on removing the plates as each diner finishes their meal at different times, the staff actually noticed that one of us was not finished, and backed away, leaving us more appropriately with plates for each."

  • "Thank you Artisan Bistro for helping us celebrate John Griffin's Birthday. It worked out perfectly. Your desert choice for John made us all laugh. A memorable meal."

  • "I rarely write reviews but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to write one about my recent experience at Artisan Bistro. I was at a birthday dinner there with three girlfriends. The food was absolutely delicious (tuna tartar & beet salad) and the service could not have been better. I've been to Artisan several other times and have always been very pleased. My husband and I sometimes go to the bar, have a few drinks and eat some appetizers. It's a great casual date night."

  • "An outstanding experience from every perspective. The service was impeccable. The food was remarkable for its inventive creativity that melded so many complementary flavors in unique ways. Each course stood out and even a week later, we were revisiting individual dishes and how delightful they were. For a special occasion for people who love the tops of gastronomy, we couldn't recommend Artisan any higher."

  • "The other night we were in Lafayette for one night. A friend suggested Artisan for a superb French dinner. What a delicious experience we had. Kris as our server enhanced our evening with his personality, menu suggestions and timing. The scallops I enjoyed were fabulous as were my husband's octopus and lamb. Portions and presentation were exceptional for a fine dining restaurant. The sauces for our dishes were also special. C'est magnifique. Merci, Chef."

  • "The food at Artisan was incredible! I was amazed at how brilliantly they mixed together flavors and textures. However, we had a 7:15 reservation and weren't seated until about 7:30. Other than that I have absolutely no complaints about the food, ambiance, and service at Artisan."

  • "Very conducive to having a business meeting. Background noise brings up the energy of the restaurant but quiet enough to talk. The table spacing and arrangement make it private enough and the staff is excellent in observing when to come by and when to leave you alone. Its obvious they are professionals and not part time waiters. I had the three course dinner they offer every Wednesday and Sunday and it was exceptional and a fantastic deal not to be missed."

  • "My wife and I went to Artisan for our anniversary. We had dined at Artisan 6 months earlier and thought it was great, this time it was fantastic, the food and presentation was creatively done and beautifully presented. I'd put this restaurant up against the top in San Francisco. The service was great, not too in your face, not too stiff and formal, very attentive and knowledgeable."

  • "Great food, very fresh tasting. Impeccable service. Handled gluten food allergy well. Nice selection of dinner items and music in the background. My husband's favorite place. Every other restaurant pales by comparison."

  • "Artisan is amazing! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Food is incredible and the menu offers one great thing after another. The interior is beautiful."

  • "The food here surpassed my expectations. The 3 courses we selected were equally delicious, beautifully presented, and the wine pairing perfect. The food and ambiance was very very good. Still one of the best overall dining experiences in the East Bay!"

  • "For the second straight time the greeting we received was less than friendly, but then nearly everything else was wonderful. The side sunroom they have is poorly ventilated so summer heat can make these 4-5 tables challenging, as we found out. But the food was near perfection and the service was well coordinated between 3-4 individuals and very attentive while sincerely friendly. The place deserves one of the higher ratings in the East Bay."
