ArtisanThe table next to us was soThe table next to us was so loud and obnoxious that it took away from the experience.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently OutstandingArtisan remains one of the finest restaurants in Paso Robles. Casually elegant, great service, and excellent meals.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot for a foodie!Excellent menu! Really rare food pairings that will help you test your limits! Super fun atmosphere and unique dessert. Only downside..no full bar.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat spot in PasoMy husband and I were visiting from out of town and this spot was recommended. The food and service far exceeded our expectations the food was fresh, delicious and original. The servers were very knowledgeable about the wine list and the dessert was fabulous. I am NOT a dessert eater and was pleasantly surprised by the delicious and unique dessert. Highly recommend this restaurant.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as usualHad another great dinner at Artisan. Can always count on them to do something unusual. While my wife had halibut (done very well, but no surprise they do fish very well), I had a tenderloin of wild boar with pig's cheek. Never had either before, but both were excellent - tender and juicy and tasted wonderful. Only concern is that they are moving to a location nearby that does not have as convenient parking as the current location.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb DiningVisiting the Paso Robles wine country area, we hoped to find a restaurant to make Mothers Day a little special. Heard some good things about Artisan from a relative. My husband and I were not disappointed. I had the Rabbit Paella, which was delicious, but my husband hit the jackpot with his Abalone Tostada starter and Wild Boar, Pig Cheek over Fennel Risotto entree. He put in the top ten meals that he's ever had, and we've dined in many fine restaurants internationally. We both paired our meals with wine tastings. A nice touch was an descriptive sheet under the three choices. We hadn't been to this wine country in a number of years. It has exploded like so many California wine areas.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent in all respectsAs a bonus they are moving to a trendier area of Paso Robles as of the end of May 2013.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMtoo loudnoise level was excessive. energetic is one thing but this was too much5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMArtisan is such a great spot!I ate here for lunch earlier in April on the recommendation of our wine tour guide. It was amazing then, and just as awesome when we returned. The mushroom toast small plate was absolutely unbelievable. The dessert alone is worth stopping in for. The s'mores are unlike any you've ever eaten, guaranteed! The pistachio cheesecake with cherry topping was great as well. I'm not crazy about the wine selection, but we split a bottle of Shramsburg Blanc de Blancs and were very satisfied with it. I'd recommend this place to anyone stopping in Paso Robles. What a darling little town!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMNEVER DISAPPOINTED!For a sure bet, even though we have many, many wonderful top-quality restaurants in the county, we are never disappointed when we choose Artisan for a special occasion! The staff is warm, knowledgeable, fast, and give great service. The appetizers are unique and delightful, the regular menu is diverse and delicious, and the specials are always wonderful. Our favorite place in North County!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOur second visit to ArtisanOur second visit to Artisan was just as memorable as our first. Delicious flavors and textures greeted our palate.
At too often, the music got out of hand, both because of the volume and the choice of music. As I looked around the room, Black Sabbath didn't seem like it would have been the first choice of most of the patrons. To the credit of the manager, he did bring the overall level down when we asked.
We left well fed and content.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Experience!Artisan is a wonderful restaurant that utilizes local ingredients and great local wine! Would recommend it to anyone living in or visiting the area as wonderful place to dine.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNoisy but NiceThe menu selections of this restaurant are outstanding. The creativity is exceptional in both the concept and flavoring. The wine choices are good (almost all are Paso Robles wines) and well matched with the food. Service was friendly and attentive. The only negative for this restaurant is the noise level. It is very high to the point of being unpleasant. However, the restaurant is moving to a new location on the town square (a couple of blocks from its present location) in a few months. No doubt the noise complaint will be addressed at the new location as it is a common complaint of many reviewers.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome food and serviceWe had a fantastic meal. The server was very knowledgeable and directed us into some great selections. The lamb was so tasteful and the gravy divine. Great wines that paired well with the food.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDelight to the PalateThe food here is so good you just want to keep tasting more. The chiefs do wonders with wild (wild boar) and local (grass fed beef and rabbit) meats and vegetables. The accompaniments are added flavors and nuances to the entrees. I would recommend this restauarnt to all my foodie friends. Looking forward to your move this summer5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMSalty entrees were a deal-breakerEverything was fabulous -- great starters, fantastic wine list, inventive cheese course, great service. But the entrees were too salty to eat. Bummer!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great experience!Always a great experience! Perfect for lunch and dinner. Definitely one of Paso's best!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding place to eatSmall and absolutely wonderful neighborhood restaurant in Paso Robles. Had a lot of small plates between us instead of traditional 3 courses, so effectively made our own tasting menu with wines by the glass; great wine list especially for glasses as well as whole bottles. Fresh, creative food and amazing value for money. The potato ravioli with oxtail gravy, in particular...and the pistachio cheesecake...couple of omg moments right there. Staff very friendly, knowledgeable and all round great service. Can't fault it.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinner. Courses areGreat dinner. Courses are not huge, this is a plus. Make a reservation.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWho knew Paso Robles couldWho knew Paso Robles could be the home to such a special restaurant. The freshness of the food and the unique preparation and presentation made this a truly memorable meal. The service was top notch - I felt like I was in a European Bistro where we were allowed to enjoy each course without being pushed on to the next. Wish there were places like this in Los Angeles! I will be back on my next visit!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous food & service!Charming restaurant with great food and great service. Very attentive and delicious meals. We were a party of 4 and each got something different on the menu for starters, entrees and desserts. Everyone raved about their respective dishes. We will be back the next time we are in Paso Robles!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFour of us enjoyed ArtisanFour of us enjoyed Artisan on a Fri. evening. Our 8:00 reservations were honored
on time. It is a very busy place. Our wait person was very friendly and attentive.
While the menu is not extensive (a good thing in our opinion) we all found entrees
we enjoyed. All in all, a grand experience.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat selection of foods,Great selection of foods, prepared perfectly. Rockin cheesecake4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been here many times,We have been here many times, it's the hottest restaurant in Paso and is always crowded. One thing that I have noticed is that the appetizers are smaller than most places, for the price anyway, most places you can share, not here... They are pretty good nonetheless. Another thing worth mentioning is that more than one time I have said, this looks nice, tastes good, but isn't easy to eat, so maybe that's something the chef should consider? Other than that, it's very good! They have a varied menu of different meats that you don't usually see, (although my wife won't let me eat most of it), and fish dishes...4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth a detour......wish theWorth a detour......wish the Kobayashis had a restaurant in Los Anglees, too!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the food, service andLoved the food, service and the wine was top notch! We went there without a reservation on another night and sat at the bar. The halibut cheek appetizer was the bomb!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant, modern,Great restaurant, modern, casual, comfortable decor. Have eaten at Artisan many times, stop here ever time traveling through Paso Robles. Small menu, excellent choice of appetizers and entres, creative food combinations. Food well prepared, excellent taste, large portion sizes. Great service, server explained menu well. Nice wine, beer, and beverage menu to complement the menu. A must visit when in Paso Robles.
ee4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe overall experience wasThe overall experience was really very good.
I'd like to see more vegetarian menu options. I had the Halibut and my husband had the wild mushroom risotto - both were delicious but both were too rich with butter and/or cream. We asked for bread for the carbs to cut the richness.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAll Expectations MetGreat food and service. The green garlic potato soup is a must have. Not a bad entree on the menu. So much to choose from. Great ambience and very attentive staff. We will definitely go back again and recommend to our friends. A must restaurant when you are in town.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and Wine - Paso RoblesI'm a steak person and the wife is for seafood. Perfect menu to satisfy both of us and served by an excellent staff which were very patient and attentive to us since it was our first time there.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food....mushroomDelicious food....mushroom toast was favorite appetizer....brioche toasted with creamed but freshly sauteed mushrooms, bacon, and a poached egg on top...yum. Fondue was delish too. Server knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. Went back for lunch the next day and was not disappointed.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI would go early for kid friendly.I would go early for kid friendly. We ate at 5pm. They were great with our (well behaved) kids but I could see it not working later in the evening.
Artisan is a great spot. We've been going there a few years now.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMArtisan has consistently beenArtisan has consistently been delicious and focused in their food preparations. Locally sourced, seasonally focused food means I've always had a good meal.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was spot on! FoodEverything was spot on! Food was delicious. I love that they incorporate local foods from the farmers market. Servers were friendly and knowledgeable. Great wine list. Our favorite restaurant in the area!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMVery tasty food. Special occasionVery tasty food. Special occasion with the wife. I had the NY steak which was excellent. Wife had scallops & shrimp. Cooked perfectly. The tiny shrimp in the dish were unnecessary. Goat cheese fondu was unbelievable! Bacon tater tots were a stroke of genius. Cons: expensive, slow, menu is weird & not easy to follow. Also, I could not get a green salad (gotta' balance out those bacon tater tots). I would recommend. We will eat there again, but only for a special occasion.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA Must-Try & A Must Come-Back AgainThis place has high reviews and there is a really good reason for it. Definitely a place to check out for those in the area. Great service and amazing food coupled with a great selection of wines to compliment.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best meals I'veOne of the best meals I've ever had!! All local and organic foods. I live in the Napa Valley which has no shortage of outstanding restaurants. Makes me a bit spoiled. Well, Artisan holds its own with any restaurant in the Napa Valley!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWent to Artisan twice on aWent to Artisan twice on a recent visit to Paso Robles - once for lunch and once for dinner. It never disappoints. The selection is varied, the ingredients are fresh and interesting and the service is excellent. Highly recommend it!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMService was excellant. WineService was excellant.
Wine list is excellant.
Ambience is very nice.
For non-foodies the food menu may be bit intimidating but our waiter was very knowledgable of the menu and provided excellant guidance.
The food was very upscale. Food quality and presentation were superb but if you are looking for quantity this may not be the place for you.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMArtisan Great for Lunch TooTry Artisan for lunch; it is just a good as it is for dinner. Many of the same great same cuisine menu items are available, and several other "lunch only" choices too. The service is excellent and the servers are very attentive and friendly.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMwe went to Artisan last yearwe went to Artisan last year when visiting SLO county and made a point to come back on our return visit this year. It is the best restaurant we have been to in SLO county (and one of the best we have been to anywhere!) Appealing menu, great food, great service, great ambiance. Wish they were in the SF Bay Area (where we live) so we could come more often!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA gourmet experienceOur dinner at Artisan the other night was wonderful. The food was outstanding. The portions were just right. We had the crab slider and the kale and cabbage salad to start. And the flatiron steak for my husband and the rabbit dish for myself. Now this is gourmet food.Service was also the best. Very professional. I just love this restaurant.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMArtisan in Paso Robles...ExcellentArtisan is a "must do" restaurant in Paso Robles. The cuisine is excellent and a very wide selection on the menu. There was a large party in the muddled of the room which made it a bit noisy.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food in an out of theGreat food in an out of the way area of downtown Paso Robles. Went there for an anniversary lunch and were very pleased that we did. Will be back on our next trip. The bacon tater tots were novel and delicious. PB&L meatballs with gnocchi, Pastrami reuben, and the fondue were excellent.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply another wonderful wine-foodSimply another wonderful wine-food pairing experience. Always a treat to visit Artisan!3/4/2013 12:00:00 AMTechnique! and creativty, tooWe had to wait a bit, even with a reservation, but it was well worth it. The noise level was enough for our attentive server to hear our appetizer order of potato ravioli as mushroom toast. What luck! The poached egg on the mushroom toast was absolutely perfect. And the potato ravioli were pretty great, too. The bed of fennel risotto for the wild boar tenderloin was another stand out element. The wine list is a comfortable length and comfortably priced sleuthed from the many excellent local producers. I highly recommend Artisan as a dining destination anytime one is in the 101 corridor.3/2/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's been several years sinceIt's been several years since we've been in Paso Robles, but Artisan was just as wonderful as our first experience.
