We appreciate the consistently excellent food, service and wine offering at Artichoke Cafe'. The menu is interesting and enticing. It is one of a handful of places in Albuquerque that we return over and over without disappointment. Great for personal and business occasions.

There is a special feeling upon entering The Artichoke Cafe that makes you know you want to return, and then the food was exemplary: the chile relleno was outstanding, the scallops were delicious and the avocado cheesecake was lovely. The service was just right!

Great food as always. The tenderloin is some of the best I've had. The carne asada tacos are delicious and complex in flavor. My wife got the chicken and it was good but she wished she had gotten the tenderloin after she tasted mine. We will be back for sure to try the scallops and steak frites which looked amazing.

We always try to dine at the Artichoke Café when we come to Albuquerque. My wife had the grilled romaine salad and I the poblano relleno for starters. The mole sauce on the relleno may have been the best I've ever had; very complex with just a slight, pleasant burn. My wife opted for the blackened salmon for dinner, and I the risotto of the day, which was roasted tomatillo and corn, both of which were again very good. A kitchen snafu delayed the arrival of our shared dessert, which the manager kindly had removed from our check; a nice gesture on the restaurant's part. Our server was also very pleasant and efficient. All in all, another great Artichoke Café experience.

My wife chose the Artichoke for her birthday dinner and it didn't disappoint. She loved the roasted beet carpaccio (my caesar salad was terrific) and she enjoyed the pork chop very much (the sauce was terrific, i can attest to that) while i just had the steak frites - the steak was very tasty and the smaller size therefore was perfect; the fries were great but far far too many. i had the flourless chocolate "cake" for dessert and it was classic - truly something any chocolate fan shouldn't miss. i asked for a glass of port for dessert and was impressed that the bar tender's recommendation was NOT the most expensive on the menu. He said it had been open awhile and thought the 20 year old tawny would be better. Lovely evening.

We enjoyed dinner at Artichoke on a Friday night. I might consider a weeknight in the future to avoid the frenetic pace of the weekend. We were in the restaurant just short of 2 hours having dinner. Our server was attentive and knowledgable. One of our dishes, the pork egg roll appetizer was a bit too salty, the lamb shank could have had more spices, the creme brulee was very average. Wine by the glass selections were good and affordable. I consider Artichoke one of the most special restaurants in town, so my standards are pretty high.

The dining room is more crowded and thus noisier, our server was overworked and thus abrupt and neglectful, and the prices have increased markedly. My husband's favorite, the scallops wrapped in prosciutto, was still excellent, though 4 scallops for $38 is a ridiculous price in Albuquerque. One friend pronounced the duck breast "very good," still a bit high at $29. Another friend and I had the risotto, relatively inexpensive ($15) but undistinguished. Each of us had one glass of wine and no other dishes besides the entrees; the tab for five of us, including a 20% tip, came to $240. On top of that, the noise level made it nearly impossible for us, seniors all, to hear each other. We used to love Artichoke, but we won't go back again.

First of all, there was a good crowd for a weeknight, the menu has great variety, but be wary of complicated descriptions such as cured halibut in elderberry sauce, and apple and pear pie with duck fat tamari burnt sugar ice cream. Being a tourist, I had to fathom the unfathomable. Even the Caesar salad ws over dressed, though tasty. There were simpler dishes on the menu, and I would advise ordering on that category. Even the bread selection, served by a special waitperson with tongs, was generic slices from loaves. The neighborhood is charming and I feel confident that proper ordering would produce a succulent meal. Good service and ambience.

The Artichoke Cafe was recommended by a good friend who used to live in New Mexico, so my wife and I dined there last week when we were visiting the area. The food was excellent as was the service. We both had a good meal and enjoyed the artichoke as an appetizer, which was prepared to perfection. Both of us asked for changes to the menu and we were both accommodated without any question. That is the sign of a good restaurant and a good chef. I recommend Artichoke Cafe.

We enjoyed our evening at the Artichoke Cafe. We were greeted at the door with a smile. Made us feel welcome right away. We were asked if we had a preference on seating and showed us what our options were. Took us a while to order since we weren't familiar with the menu. The waiter checked with us several times but we did not feel rushed. We were splitting an entrée, and the kitchen was kind enough to spit it for us....no extra charge. It's sometimes the small things that make a difference. Would highly recommend the Artichoke Cafe. We will be back.

You could walk by this palace 100 times and not give this place a second thought. It's on a corner of east central surrounded by other newer food venues; but if you ever walk through the doors of this establishment, you will be hooked. From the outside the place looks small and cramped-but the place is actually very spacious and nicely laid out. The wine list is pretty extensive and the food is good; however DO NOT walk in thinking that this is a Mexican food restaurant-you will be seriously disappointed. But if you want a nice place to eat and/or entertain a friend; a place that provides a great alternative to the regular ABQ food scene. This is the place...

The restaurant is deceiving from the outside at first glance, because it's quite elegant once inside. A little crowded at the front especially if you're moving to the back for seats. The service was excellent, when more than 2-3 tables are filled it gets noisy and hard to hear anyone at your own table. A little pricey for the food servings, especially the artichoke which was hard to manage. Lamb was excellent.

We had not been to Artichoke for some time, but our experience was as we remembered. Food and service was excellent. Our only downside was that we chose a window seat in the bar, but the noise level there was dominated by one patron who absolutely had to be seen and heard for his own gratification. Fortunately he left midway through our dinner. Should have stayed in the dining room which was originally offered to us.

I think they were down some servers when we were there. The table wasn't ready for our reserved time, and we ended up seated in the bar area which was very loud. However, they owned the situation and ensured our dinner was good and we weren't ignored. Food was quite good.

Really liked the decor and overall atmosphere - you could enjoy conversation without being on top of others. For us dessert was the highlight (pumpkin tiramisu) because there were flaws in our other courses - caesar salad was drowning in dressing, duck had unusual sides that weren't really eaten and the overwhelming quantity of fries with Steak & Frites were also not consumed. Pretty wasteful. . .

The food was generally very good and the sea bass that my dining companion had was great but the lamb shank I ordered came out luke warm. The entire plate with cous cous was not warmed up sufficiently. my assumption was they did not get the timing of the fish and the lamb shank right and they just screwed up. they took it back and heated it sufficiently but by then i was out of snyc with my dining companion so it threw the whole experience off. I did not ask for any adjustment but assumed at a nice place like this they would have automatically made some adjustment or offer free desert but nothing was done other than apologies from waiter and floor manager.

The menu on our visit had some unusual/unique and interesting options: the salmon came with a "popcorn" puree...and it was to die for; also an apple/pear pie dessert that was not a piece of pie at all but four delicious empanadas; and a pumpkin-bacon tiramisu with a ginger/bacon cookie that has to be tried to be believed. Overall a great experience!

Staff were terrific, the food was excellent and the vibe was alive and friendly. This was a great find after travelling the southwest for three weeks and encountering mediocre fare. Food was particularly good and they really accommodated a food allergy to the allium family (which is no mean feat in a gourmet restaurant that relies heavily on onions and garlic). Highly recommended.

We had dinner for two at 7:30pm on a Saturday night. We had a reservation and were immediately seated. The restaurant was full when we sat down, always a good sign. Service was up and down, e.g. they tried to take our cocktail order almost immediately (i.e. before we could look at the menu) and then disappeared for a very long time before coming back to actually take the order. The service pace was off the entire night (appetizer arrived before cocktails, server forgot to take our wine order, even though we told him we were going to order wine w/dinner). Bartender/sommelier (unsure) offered a few tastings for us to choose our dinner wine, which was nice. Food was excellent- we had the artichoke, apple and bleu salad, chicken and pork.

Our son had lamb and said it just tasted like a roast. The apple blue cheese salad was very good. Service was good, not great. It was quiet and we were able to have a conversation--something rare now days. The prices were expensive. It was given $$, but $$$ is closer to price range.
