We all departed happier than an un-contested belief system...
Thanks Art and Soul!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe gift of the rice puddingThe gift of the rice pudding desert was lovely. My free range burger with an egg was delicious. Art would and should be proud. The patio is the best ever5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLet me start with "I'm Southern."Let me start with "I'm Southern." I tend to be very critical of southern food, and am usually not very find of any spins on southern food. With that said, I took my boyfriend here for his 25th birthday, and we chose the seafood gumbo for two. On first taste, I was concerned about the lack of spice and the darker rue. He noticed a small bowl of chili peppers on the side, which saved the day. It was genius. We were able to spice it up according to our own preferences. Loved! I would without a doubt go back!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways great! Always Consistent!I love Art and Soul. Great for special occasions. FRIED GREEN TOMATOES are the best
In DC... I tell everyone about them.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat more can I say?The food, the service, the ambiance... all excellent. I would definitely go again. The only slight issue I have are the prices. It's pricey but for that caliber of a restaurant, I pay for it.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food at Art and Soul wasThe food at Art and Soul was amazing, and the service was even better. We had a 1:00 reservation for Sunday brunch, and arrived over 30 minutes early but were still seated immediately. We also requested to be seated outdoors since we had our dog with us, and were accommodated very well - we were allowed to bring our dog into the outdoor seating area, and not just tie her up outside. We also noticed that we were not the only group doing this. The waitress also brought us a water dish and treats! Food arrived promptly, coffee and water were plentiful, and the restaurant was beautiful! Great experience!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for BrunchNice Sunday brunch for our mixed-age party with widely varying tastes in food. My dining partner loved her cornbread with pork and bean soup. The food here is always outstanding -- and with the newly decorated dining room, this restaurant is even better than ever. It's a little noisy, because it's so popular, but it's proof that people are enjoying this dining gem. Oh, we shared a warm chocolate chip cookie for dessert. Wonderful!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service. TheGreat food and service. The recommendations were spot on. The calamari/shrimp/okra starter was really good. The bacon/scallion cornbread;fabulous!! We ordered one to go. My cousin ordered a trio of pork (don't recall the actual entree name), but it had a spicy sausage, pork medallion, and a third type that I did not get to try because my cousin ate it too fast. I ordered the scallops over some kind of cabbage that blew my mind! Scallops were juicy and crispy. Unfortunately, we were underwhelmed with the dessert. We ordered the Baby Cakes, which is a sampler of five mini cupcakes, all of which were very dry. I did not like any of them.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was spectacular. ServiceFood was spectacular. One get's the impression that every employee truly cares about providing and experience, not just a meal. While the dinner menu is amazing, the beverage list puts up a good fight for center stage: artfully conceived and executed cocktails, craft liquor and beer, and a spectacular wine list. My fiancé and I were given a fixed price menu for $35. We got to choose and appetizer, entree, and dessert. I got the beet salad and my fiancé got the soup. My salad was delicious and had a very zesty and fresh taste. The soup was smokey and tasty. We both had the fried chicken. It was amazing! It was so crispy and moist on the inside. There was a side of mashed potatoes and greens. I loved them. We also ordered a side of corn bread that was very tasty. For dessert, we had the brownie and mint sorbet. It was a perfect way to end the meal. It wasn't heavy and very refreshing. I loved it.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA Discovered GemOn behalf of my guest and I want to give a Big thank you to Art and Soul. Beverage journal is a bit clunky!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI had reserved a table forI had reserved a table for 7 . I called and left a message that the party size needed to be increased. I didn't get a response. To my surprise when we arrived my reservation was for the updated number of people! Our server KC was patient and attentive but not over bearing! The only disappointment was when the shrimp and grits came out. Previously the portion of grits was larger than the current size.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWith astounding ambiance andWith astounding ambiance and amicable service, Art and Soul exceeded my expectations. Being a fan of Chef Art Smith and his philosophies of the kitchen, I went into my dining with high expectations. The food went above and beyond these expectations. The waiter helped me choose my entree by suggesting I order the bacon sandwich. The meat was cooked to perfection on the sandwich, for you could taste the fresh char on the bacon. Every flavor packed into the sandwich was melodious and pure. From the cheese to the spicy spread, my taste buds were exhilarated. Art and Soul at the Liaison, Capitol Hill reminded me why I love the culinary industry; As long as it's made with heart, the food will make your dining experience all the more memorable.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful Southern Twist on BrunchArt & Soul combined the ambiance of a chic DC lounge with the comfort and flavor of soul food.
