Arroyo Chop HouseAwesome time at the Arroyo Chopthis place is outstanding. Service helped pair wine with our dishes. The cowboy bone in ribeye was flavorful. All dishes had great taste and were seasoned perfectly. The dining room was comfortable and very easy to forget about time. The warm chocolate pecan pie with coffee ice cream topped the night off. we will definitely will go back to try more dishes. The wait staff was attentive and able to answer many questions.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect steak houseLove the Arroyo Chop House. Have been going 15 years, best martinis, steaks, sides and souffles in town! Waiters are professional and an overall perfect dining experience. I always send my out of town friends there for a wonderful, special and delicious meal!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinner and serviceCame here several years ago and had a wonderful experience. I was curious to see if the standard was still the same. It was a wonderful experience. Service and food was perfect.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and serviceWe enjoyed lobster bisque, scallops wrapped in bacon, petite filet and a cocktail. Excellent food, well timed delivery. Friendly, attentive, yet unobtrusive service. Highly recommended.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOrder the Grand Mernier Souffle!Steak and sides were good. Not the best Ive had. The lobster bisque was a special on that day and nothing to write home about. The souffle was out of this world! Would go back for cocktails and soufflé!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious Meal1st time here. The Arroyo House was recommended to us for our anniversary dinner.
The meal was absolutely Delicious, I had the fillet and my husband had the T-Bone, Cooked to Perfection! Missed out on the Prime Rib that I've read is fantastic...our reservation was for 6:45 and Prime Rib had already been sold out for the evening.
Our Entire Meal, appetizers, garlic bread and all was very good, Pricey for sure! Decor was nice, not really an atmosphere for a Romantic night out as it was extremely noisy, were were put in the middle of a room, one side was a huge group having a B-day party, the people at the other tables surrounding us were talking so loud we were hearing multiple conversations, had to lean in to talk between ourselves.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMIt is consistently excellentIf what you want is a GREAT steak with simply prepared sides that are delicious, Arroyo Chop house can not be beaten. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, able to recommend the right cut of meat for the taste you might be craving. This feels like the best restaurants of "old Hollywood" ( think Sardi's) with stark white tablecloths set against dark wood walls and low lighting designed to make anyone look good. Since you "get what you pay for" this is a special occasion restaurant because the prices are steep. But, unlike some trendy restaurants, all the food is of the highest grade and superb.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of Pasadena's BestI've always loved coming here, the service and atmosphere is top notch, the menu impressive. The menu is varied but this is a steak lover's destination. Be prepared to spend some money though, as Open Tables' entree range of $50.00+ is VERY accurate. For special occasions and impressing important clients, you may think it's worth it.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMRecent visitMy wife and I have dined here many times in the past, although it's been about a year since our last visit. Overall it is still a wonderful place to have dinner. The staff is wonderful and we are always made to feel welcome. Dinner this time was not quite up to par as my wife's lamb chops were overcooked, which is very unusual and has never happened before. I had the Australian lobster tail and it was perfectly done and a decent size. I was a little shocked at the $70.00 price as the tail wasn't that big. I have had similar sized tails that have come as a surf and turf combo for the same price! Having said all that, we will be going back in the future.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service and foodNice classy restaurant. My husband and I came here to celebrate his birthday and also a date night without the kids.. yay! Love the atmosphere and fairly romantic. We didn't have to wait for our table long. They have a birthday card waiting at our table for my husband. That was a lovely touch. Our waiter is excellent. I had the rib eye while husband had the Kobe steak. It was delish. We closed out the night with the Grand Marnier Souffle that I have heard great reviews about. The souffle is superb. Overall, love the place and will definitely come back again.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Good....Overall a very good experience.... I will refer all my friends... The dress code was stated but fell far short as to what was observed....5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMNone can compare!!!I am going to make this short and sweet. This was the best meal I have EVER had!!! Bar none and I have had the pleasure of dining at some pretty extraordinary spots.
The veal chop was 'melt in your mouth' tender. The 40 day aged New York was succulent and tasted like nirvana.
Do not leave without a souffle for dessert! The Grand Marnier souffle is beyond description. I am convinced it is what St. Peter serves you upon your arrival in heaven.
The waiter, Mark, is teriffic. No request is beyond him and he is there when you need something but is not annoying.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an 8:00 P.M. reservation,We had an 8:00 P.M. reservation, & our table was ready & waiting for us. The restaurant is valet parking only, & all staff is very efficient, polite, & courteous. The jalapeño corn soufflé, creamed spinach, & dessert soufflés are amazing--as was my ribeye. The portions are huge & meant to share.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMUltimate diningOther than all the great steaks and sides, this place has the best soufflé in Los Angeles. For those who also care about the quality of servers, this Reataurant has the most seasoned servers and they make you feel taken cared of but not annoyed.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely Mother's Day dinnerHave not been to the Arroyo Chop House in about 3 years. Why did I stay away so long? I frequent the other Smith Brothers' restaurants including Smitty's and Parkway Grill often. I will put the Chop House back in rotation.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous! One of the best meals we've had in a long time. Everything was so delicious and the service was seamless. A great place to celebrate a special occasion.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as usual, but a bit noisyThis was our fourth visit. My wife and I celebrated her birthday here and they surprised her with a bouquet of orchids which she loved. The food was excellent as expected as was the service. However, we were seated in the wine room - which was a nice secluded area from the main dining room - but they had a large group that was really loud.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMHonorable! Our request for a booth, away from kitchen and excessive foot traffic for our daughter's 21st birthday was honored exactly as requested. Complimentary flowers and card topped off the welcome. I'm sure it helped to make the reservation 3 weeks in advance but this was truly a great experience. Server was patient and gracious. Although not a big steak house person, I would go back for another special occasion!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMBest chop house in PadadenaMany choices in Pasadena for fine dining. None better than Arroyo Cop House5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional, as usualArroyo Chop House never fails as a go-to spot for special occasions in Pasadena. We've been coming here regularly for well over 10 years, maybe 15 years, two to four times a year, and it is always fantastic. It was my wife's birthday this weekend, and they hit a home run yet again. Our kids are now at an age (6 and 10) where we no longer get nervous bringing them along. It's not cheap, but otherwise perfect. The quality and preparation of the food and the attentiveness of the staff are unparalleled.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWONDERFUL BIRTHDAY EXPERIENCEWe celebrated 2 birthdays and enjoyed a wonderful dinner with fantastic service from beginning to end. Enjoyed everything about the evening!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial occasionsThis is the perfect place for any special occasion. My husband and I went to celebrate our 18 wedding anniversary. They made the experience wonderful! That is why we love this place!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMArroyo chop house has theArroyo chop house has the best tasting steaks, juicy and cooked to perfection as ordered. Everything we ate from appatizers, melt in your mouth scallops, to the best cheesecake and apple pie is worth every penny. YUMMM! The service is impeccable, our waiter was so warm, friendly and not over "attentive" but made sure we have everything we needed. It was an overall most enjoyable dinner with my family.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went there for my birthday. We went there for my birthday. The food was the best ever. Everything we ordered was wonderful. I had the special Halibut and my husband the Salmon. Both were delicious. The barbqued shrimp salad was the same as always, very good. The waiter brought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers. And the dessert we ordered had a candle on the plate. We had a wonderful night, and are looking forward to returning.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and the service wasThe food and the service was first class. Service, atmosphere but best of all the food was amazing. We had a special side of lobster mac & cheese that was heavenly. Our meal and service could not be more perfect. Thank you so much for making our night so special.
Best by far Steak house we’ve been to in a long time.
Juli Angel4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMServer was attentive GreatServer was attentive
Great touch to have the upper management, come help the server.
Great atmosphere!
Servers very helpful and relaxed!
Drinks were great and not watered down!
Lighting excellent!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMStill the One in PasadenaThe Smith Brothers have continued to ensure that the Arroyo Chop house is a San Gabriel Valley treasure.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy Return!First time back after a long hiatus. The interior seemed to be updated and very well done. The server, Brian, was outstanding as to his attention to us and his knowledge of the menu items. His suggestions were right on point and the Cowboy Rib eye was huge and one of the most flavorful steaks I've enjoyed in a long time. The vegetables were excellent and the desserts just enough for 3.
Overall, my time between visits will be much shorter.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AM8th Year Wedding AnniversaryIt was my 8th year wedding anniversary and I was not expecting management to come up with a very personal, yet special note on our table congratulating us for our special event. Immediately, my wife and I felt welcomed and relaxed. The server's knowledge of the food was specially important, in that the recommendations that were made (from the starters to the main course meal) were excellent choices. I loved the food. The meat quality was superb in that its tenderness and flavors were palate pleasing. It was romantic, and the lighting was just right that the person in the room that was my center of attention was my wife.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMy birthday dinnerGreat atmosphere, but the meal left much to be desired. I ordered the king crab legs which were pre-cut and actually good, macaroni n' cheese, snap peas and my father had a porterhouse and roasted corn, those were all pretty bland. However the pear and beat salad was excellent. If you enjoy sourdough you will appreciate their bread, although there is a charge. Lastly our server went from being overly attentive to AWOL, his excuse was I looked happy so he left us alone....4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGo to in PasadenaAlways a great experience in Pasadena. Professionally run. Excellent food. Solid.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a fantastic dinner.Always a fantastic dinner. Erica the hostess is very accommodating and professional. The food is well seasoned and delicious.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI took my girlfriend hereI took my girlfriend here as a make up for being out of town for Valentine's Day and we had an amazing night. The food was great and so was the wait staff. I left my phone at the table accidentally and our server chased me to the door to ensure I didn't leave it. The only issue I had was that the steak knife I had was a little dull. Otherwise, a nearly perfect night.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMCalled a chop house for good reasonExcellent steak...cooked perfectly. Sides are a little under-whelming
Although good. Definetly recommend. Service above average.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI ordered the caesar saladI ordered the caesar salad prepared at the table. It was good but there was an unidentified slightly bitter taste that detracted.
I also had the porterhouse steak, medium rare, that I had really been looking forward to. I found the taste somewhat bland and disappointing, not having the rich meaty taste that I had been hoping for. I would suggest a preparation including garlic or garlic salt in addition to the salt and pepper. Also, the steak could have been more seared on the outside while still keeping the meat medium rare.
Our waiter was very nice, helpful, knowledgeable, and charming.
Overall a very nice experience, though much too expensive for regular visits. Thank you.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWatch for the bread charge.Took two friends here for their birthday. The service was good not great. What I didn't like was the charge for the bread. This was our first time and the waiter asked if we would like garlic, sourdough or a combination of the two breads. I ordered the two breads. Much to my surprise when the bill came was a charge for the bread. I thought the bread was complimentary like most places. Our dinner was delicious. We all had steak two the petite filet the other two the filets. They were cooked to perfection. The baked potatoes were some of the largest I have ever seen. We also ordered sauteed mushrooms, sugar snap peas and au gratin potatoes. For dessert we ordered apple pie, they were so large you can share this with someone.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food as always was fantastic! The food as always was fantastic! The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was where we ended up sitting. We had a table right next to the bar, the bar itself is small and there were some large groups waiting to be seated and unfortunately because the space was tight people kept pushing up against the back of my husbands chair. It was also louder then we would have liked because of the bar but the food made up for those issues. The scallop and pancetta app. were wonderful and the prime rib and porterhouse steak were cooked to perfection, the lobster mashed potatoes were a great side dish for the meat, the food was just amazing!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth every penny. If youWorth every penny. If you want to dine and have a top quality meal and service, then this is the place. Wouldn't it be nice if all restaurants brought you your food and it was piping hot? We will return.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent celebration forExcellent celebration for a 70th birthday. Generous portions. Fish cooked to perfection. I ordered the beet salad which was amazing. The waiter described it as a small portion. It turned out to be plenty for 2 people. We sat in the wine room which show cased the wine behind glass. It was intimate and cozy.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSteak lover paradise! This older birthday boy had a night to remember! It all started with the scallops and pancetta; followed by the porterhouse (seriously, medium rare is the only way to go); two fantastic reds and ending with lemon bread pudding washed down with a 20 year port. Make sure you try the Mac and cheese made with gruyere! The piano player added a refined touch on top of an already classy atmosphere. Great for the special occasions!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best steak I've ever eaten. The best steak I've ever eaten. Guess that Prime really makes a difference. Can't comment on the wine list because I don't drink wine. Mixed drinks are strong and great, tho, of course, expensive. Service impeccable. Food is great and service manages to be both casual/agreeable and special occasion formal, making the diner feel very, very special and taken care of. Good job.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for our anniversaryWe went for our anniversary and had a great evening. Our server was great and the food and wine was excellent. Make sure you save room for the souffle.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAll three of us had a wonderfulAll three of us had a wonderful time. Best dinner of the year! And I was able to make reservations on line, which for me, is a first.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent. WeThe food was excellent. We had the crab legs and crab cake appetizers before our dinner and it was especially delicious.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly Recommend! We ate here for our third year anniversary. Oustanding service, outstanding food, and we are 100% likely to return whether it's for a casual dinner or a special occasion. I can't recommend this the Arroyo Chop House enough.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was outstanding fromFood was outstanding from our appetizers ( alaskan king crab, seafood bisque and salads ) to the entrees ( seabass and steak ) and finally ending with our desserts ( chocolate souffle and strawberry shortcake ).
