A word from Arroyo Chop House
A modern take on the classic American steakhouse, Arroyo Chop House is one of only a few restaurants in Southern California that serves exclusively USDA Prime beef. This strikingly handsome restaurant, inspired by the Arts & Crafts architectural style for which Pasadena is famous, is clad in rich mahogany and the cozy booths are bathed in seductive light.

Our steaks are aged and hand cut daily and then perfectly seared in a 1,500 degree oven. Traditional steakhouse side dishes include creamed spinach, baked potatoes, asparagus spears with hollandaise sauce, and Arroyo Chop House's famous onion rings. We also offer live Maine lobster and fresh fish, Alaskan King Crab legs, fresh oysters, and shrimp. Compliment your meal with a bottle from our award-winning wine list and finish the night with one of our delicious desserts such as a Grand Marnier soufflé, warm apple pie, butterscotch pudding or chocolate pecan pie.

  • "After coming here for 25 years (since the 2nd week the restaurant converted to the Chophouse format), I wait for them to slip up and they never do! This is what makes a great restaurant that can live a quarter of a century: consistency of the experience. Always a nice relaxing setting with piano player, great food that's fresh and is always prepared the same way you last had it, nice wine and cocktail list, and wonderful service. Our server, Blair did his usual great job. Not intrusive or pushy; quick on the cocktails, sense of humor, and the orders went to the kitchen correctly. I rank the Chophouse in my top 5 along with The Metropolitan(Seattle), Hall's(Charleston, SC), Lucky's(Montecito), and Archie's Wayside(LeMars, Iowa)."

  • "Choose this restaurant on a reccomend from a friend. Food was delicious but I can't overlook the small things. The restaurant was pretty empty when my hubby & I arrived. Hostess was less than friendly and we were only people waiting. Place was pretty empty yet we were given a table right on top of piano. I so do not like to play the race card but we were also the only african americans present at the time. Waitress was very nice, but the garlic bread we were served was cold. Restaurant opens for dinner @ 5:30 our reservation was for 6 & we arrived early. Drinks were excellent as was dinner but then our apple pie was cold!!!!"

The steak was delicious and the mac-n-cheese is to die for, close tie with the Grand Marnier souffle. l definitely will be back to this restaurant as everything was perfect from start to finish."

I go to Arroyo Chopped House at least 2x a month and each time I got its alway alway top class. I have people visit my from out of the country and state and when I ask them where would you like to have dinner. They're answer is alway Arroyo Chopped House. Love everything about Arroro."

  • "I brought my date for a special occasion - delivered a decorated cake to the Chop House a few hours in advance to be served for surprise dessert. Dinner was good and when he asked if we were having dessert, of course I said yes. He brought us a dessert menu. I asked him to check with kitchen and he seemed confused again. Then I asked him to check with the desk...after several minutes, he returned with ---------two slices of the special cake I had delivered earlier. I was flabbergasted. I asked about the cake and he said it was still in the kitchen "Do you want the rest of it?" I told him that the presentation was now ruined - he had no answer. A few minutes later he came back with a scoop of ice cream and a candle. I was speechless."

  • "Our dinner was excellent everything went well, except for the fact that the person that led us to the table only gave us the dine LA menu, didn't even bother giving us the regular menu, probably thinking we were teenagers and couldn't afford it. I go to arroyo chop house every year with my family for my birthday and also everyone else's birthday in my family. Just becuase I went with my friends that are my age doesn't mean they should look down on us!"

  • "My wife has been here through past work lunches, and had recommended it for the family to try it out for dinner, when she saw it in the LA restaurant week list. We ordered from the prix fix menu and the fillet mignon was cooked perfectly to our liking. Although there was no kids menu, our server recommended several options for our 7 and 10 year old boys, and the selections were perfect. They shared and finished a yummy ham n Mac n cheese, large prawns, as well as some of our mignon! Our boys had commented that they like the "dimly lit" restaurant! And this ambience too, was to our liking! Overall, this was a welcome experience and we will return in the near future."

  • "This is not my first time here and it's true, the service is slightly slow... But this evening it was exceptionally slow. We were seated at 9:15pm and left at 11:13pm. There was approximately a 20-25 minute wait between courses. Other than that, the meal was great. Unfortunately, it was entirely too long to be seated there so I think we will visit another steak house in the future."

  • "We were seated at a booth as requested, and we had a terrific dinner for, and with, our nephew. Starting with waiting at the bar, we felt welcomed, and we were served well. The bartender was thoughtful and friendly. When we were seated at the table, we were greeted warmly by the server Mark, and his service was excellent throughout the night. Mark did not rush us, and we were able to spend quality time with our nephew. The service by everyone at the restaurant was excellent, as always. The food, of course, was excellent and prepared very well. The drinks were excellent, too. We had a nice, relaxing and happy time at Arroyo Chophouse, once again. Thank you, Arroyo Chophouse, for being so consistently excellent in all respects."

  • "Went to the this great restaurant during dineLA week and we thought to give the dineLA menu a try -- what a mistake... The food offered by the Arroyo was sub par and did a disservice to both the restaurant and the dineLA concept. Very salty oysters, tomato bisque soup that tasted as if it came from the can, bland cream spinach and just OK filet mignon. The desserts (cheesecake and brownie with ice cream) also did a disservice to such an acclaimed restaurant. Add to all this a very noisy dining room and the whole experience was disappointing. The restaurant should either not participate in dineLA or, if it does, it should make sure it maintains its high standards with the dineLA menu as it does with its regular menu."

  • "I've been here three times now, and it never fails to impress. It's still the best steak I've ever had and they have amazing sourdough bread. This time we also tried the caramelized sweet corn, and let me tell you, I would never have thought that a corn dish could taste that good! Wonderful food, wonderful service--you can just never go wrong choosing Arroyo."

  • "I was here to take advantage of the dineLA. I will start with what I liked about the restaurant. The food was amazing, everything was really well cooked. We had the prefixed dinner. I had the filet mignon, with cream spinach, and mash potatoes. I had the New York cheesecake for desert. The ambiance of the restaurant was really nice, good music playing, good lighting. The service was horrible. We had a reservation for 7:15, but we were sat until 7:35. The waiter did not bother to ask if we needed anything, the whole night. At one point he came to ask if I wanted another coke, I was not having a coke, when I said I was ok with water he was very irritated by my answer. I would recommend to friends, but only for the food."

Food was perfection (recommend the ribeye, garlic mashed P's & fresh green beans). Showing their excellent care for their customers, after letting them know we were celebrating that evening, we were greeted at our table with a bouquet of freshly cut orchids. Classiness all around. After all these years, the ACH still ranks a perfect 5 star rating."
