A word from Arroyo Chop House
A modern take on the classic American steakhouse, Arroyo Chop House is one of only a few restaurants in Southern California that serves exclusively USDA Prime beef. This strikingly handsome restaurant, inspired by the Arts & Crafts architectural style for which Pasadena is famous, is clad in rich mahogany and the cozy booths are bathed in seductive light.

Our steaks are aged and hand cut daily and then perfectly seared in a 1,500 degree oven. Traditional steakhouse side dishes include creamed spinach, baked potatoes, asparagus spears with hollandaise sauce, and Arroyo Chop House's famous onion rings. We also offer live Maine lobster and fresh fish, Alaskan King Crab legs, fresh oysters, and shrimp. Compliment your meal with a bottle from our award-winning wine list and finish the night with one of our delicious desserts such as a Grand Marnier soufflé, warm apple pie, butterscotch pudding or chocolate pecan pie.

  • "Overall the food was great! Server seemed preoccupied but got our orders right and checked up on us regularly. Would come back again!"

  • "I brought my date for a special occasion - delivered a decorated cake to the Chop House a few hours in advance to be served for surprise dessert. Dinner was good and when he asked if we were having dessert, of course I said yes. He brought us a dessert menu. I asked him to check with kitchen and he seemed confused again. Then I asked him to check with the desk...after several minutes, he returned with ---------two slices of the special cake I had delivered earlier. I was flabbergasted. I asked about the cake and he said it was still in the kitchen "Do you want the rest of it?" I told him that the presentation was now ruined - he had no answer. A few minutes later he came back with a scoop of ice cream and a candle. I was speechless."

  • "Our dinner was excellent everything went well, except for the fact that the person that led us to the table only gave us the dine LA menu, didn't even bother giving us the regular menu, probably thinking we were teenagers and couldn't afford it. I go to arroyo chop house every year with my family for my birthday and also everyone else's birthday in my family. Just becuase I went with my friends that are my age doesn't mean they should look down on us!"

  • "My wife has been here through past work lunches, and had recommended it for the family to try it out for dinner, when she saw it in the LA restaurant week list. We ordered from the prix fix menu and the fillet mignon was cooked perfectly to our liking. Although there was no kids menu, our server recommended several options for our 7 and 10 year old boys, and the selections were perfect. They shared and finished a yummy ham n Mac n cheese, large prawns, as well as some of our mignon! Our boys had commented that they like the "dimly lit" restaurant! And this ambience too, was to our liking! Overall, this was a welcome experience and we will return in the near future."

  • "The food is always top notch. I've never had a bad experience here. We usually go for Dine LA Restaurant Week so it is an incredible value twice a year. We have gone during full price time and we still love it. Delicious."

  • "My friends and I went there for the DINELA. We order the filet mignon and the cowboy ribeye. Both of them are so so so good. But the lobster mashed potato is just so so."

  • "This is not my first time here and it's true, the service is slightly slow... But this evening it was exceptionally slow. We were seated at 9:15pm and left at 11:13pm. There was approximately a 20-25 minute wait between courses. Other than that, the meal was great. Unfortunately, it was entirely too long to be seated there so I think we will visit another steak house in the future."

  • "We were seated at a booth as requested, and we had a terrific dinner for, and with, our nephew. Starting with waiting at the bar, we felt welcomed, and we were served well. The bartender was thoughtful and friendly. When we were seated at the table, we were greeted warmly by the server Mark, and his service was excellent throughout the night. Mark did not rush us, and we were able to spend quality time with our nephew. The service by everyone at the restaurant was excellent, as always. The food, of course, was excellent and prepared very well. The drinks were excellent, too. We had a nice, relaxing and happy time at Arroyo Chophouse, once again. Thank you, Arroyo Chophouse, for being so consistently excellent in all respects."

  • "Went to the this great restaurant during dineLA week and we thought to give the dineLA menu a try -- what a mistake... The food offered by the Arroyo was sub par and did a disservice to both the restaurant and the dineLA concept. Very salty oysters, tomato bisque soup that tasted as if it came from the can, bland cream spinach and just OK filet mignon. The desserts (cheesecake and brownie with ice cream) also did a disservice to such an acclaimed restaurant. Add to all this a very noisy dining room and the whole experience was disappointing. The restaurant should either not participate in dineLA or, if it does, it should make sure it maintains its high standards with the dineLA menu as it does with its regular menu."

  • "Very nice place to eat at. Will come back for more. Ribeye steak was delicious. Everything was nice and calm. Server were super nice and helpful."

  • "I've been here three times now, and it never fails to impress. It's still the best steak I've ever had and they have amazing sourdough bread. This time we also tried the caramelized sweet corn, and let me tell you, I would never have thought that a corn dish could taste that good! Wonderful food, wonderful service--you can just never go wrong choosing Arroyo."

  • "Service was slow. Food was average at best. The environment felt dated. A good attempt at wanting to be a stand out restaurant. I kept wanting to find something to like and a reason to come back. Sadly it never happened. Nothing was terrible, just average. I had high expectations, and left feeling disappointed."

  • "Had salmon dinner with creamed spinach and broccoli on the side. Saltiest creamed spinach I ever had. Salmon was well done but a significantly small portion…"

  • "I was here to take advantage of the dineLA. I will start with what I liked about the restaurant. The food was amazing, everything was really well cooked. We had the prefixed dinner. I had the filet mignon, with cream spinach, and mash potatoes. I had the New York cheesecake for desert. The ambiance of the restaurant was really nice, good music playing, good lighting. The service was horrible. We had a reservation for 7:15, but we were sat until 7:35. The waiter did not bother to ask if we needed anything, the whole night. At one point he came to ask if I wanted another coke, I was not having a coke, when I said I was ok with water he was very irritated by my answer. I would recommend to friends, but only for the food."

  • "My husband and I come here often but this time came with work colleagues during DineLA week. Great menu for that. Really appreciate the fact you can get the soufflé's (with a supplement). Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it."

  • "My husband & I have enjoyed ACH for many years so it was an easy choice for where we would go to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. Service was perfect. Food was perfection (recommend the ribeye, garlic mashed P's & fresh green beans). Showing their excellent care for their customers, after letting them know we were celebrating that evening, we were greeted at our table with a bouquet of freshly cut orchids. Classiness all around. After all these years, the ACH still ranks a perfect 5 star rating."

  • "Mark, our waiter, was outstanding. He was very attentive and made sure our meals were to our satisfaction. The wait staff The food was excellent. We had the filet that pretty much melted in our mouths and several sides - all were cooked to perfection. The chocolate souffle was superb - very chocolatey and delightful."

  • "Always a great place to take a client of for a delightful meal or your better half intimate dinner. Jose is one of the best waiters. His service goes above and beyond. Steak was cooked to perfection. Salmon was delicious. The choice of fine wines can be overwhelming but Jose helped us navigate our way and helped us make the perfect selections for our dinners. A can't miss choice for dinner."

  • "If you're looking for a steakhouse in Pasadena, look no further. It's got all the standards, all done right. The service is fantastic, the cocktails are great, and the steaks are aged and cooked perfectly."

    Dined on 6/22/2014
  • "Much of the food was great, but my wife's steak was woefully under-cooked. Further, the service was fair at best; it seemed that we received infrequent attention, and there were large gaps (at inappropriate times) where we didn't see our server. In short, the next time we're looking to go out to a chophouse, we'll probably look elsewhere."

  • "This is the best steak I have had in los angeles, which includes all the well known chain and local eateries. It was much better than "Cut" which is wolfgang puck's contribution to the genre. All the dishes were great but the steak was fantastic"

  • "Arroyo Chop House is an institution in Pasadena for good reason. Consistently high quality food and service. Our waitstaff was efficient, knowledgable, and very friendly and the food was outstanding."
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "The restaurant was crowded and very noisy and we were seated adjacent to the bar so it was hard to have a conversation. An the live piano was competing with the crowd noise. The food was very good and the service was solid. Timing of the delivery of all the courses to our table was excellent. One major disappointment was the "souffle" that we ordered for dessert. It was a poorly executed chocolate lava cake at best. Very disappointing. Not much flavor and a runny-liquid center is not a souffle."

  • "They makes perfect filet mignon for me! Free valet parking and great service!"

  • "The service from our waiter was excellent. The hostess was talking with an employee when we arrived. we were not immediately greeted upon entering. It was like we were there for her instead of her appreciating us as a customer. Food was good."

  • "We went to celebrate Mom's 80th Birthday, when we arrived at the table, she was greeted by a bouquet of orchids accompanied by hand written wishes for a wonderful birthday. Our party had entrees that included the Ahi, Petite Filet and the Burger, none of which disappointed us - they were awesome. The ahi was seared to perfection, the filet done to the right touch of medium rare, and the burger was yummy. A baked potato, braised spinach & sauteed mushrooms were the perfect accompaniments to our dinners and were so incredibly satisfying. For desert we went light with sherberts and it was the perfect way to top off a remarkable dining experience. The wait staff were attentive but not hovering and made this special occasion memorable."

  • "I have had many special occasions where the Chop House has delivered again and again. From New Year's Eve annually to birthdays and anniversaries, the Chop House always delivers on great food and high quality service- often times adding a special flare like flowers or a special desert. Many of our families favorite meals have been in the cozy, but friendly and energetic dining room at the Chop House. The Christmas decorations are spectacular!"

  • "I have been to many different steak houses and by far this place disappointed me. I've been to Fleming's, Ruth Chris, Morton's, and many others. I ordered the Cowboy Ribeye medium rare extra char and it was flavorless. My wife ordered the surf and turf which okay. We ordered a side of asparagus and garlic mash potatoes which were delicious. Also for dessert had a chocolate souffle which was okay. Our server was great very attentive and helpful. Due to the stake being so awful I would not recommend nor return to this establishment. For the total price i paid for my dinner and drinks that steak should have been awesome, instead it was a disappointment. "

  • "We each ordered the surf and turf special, along with a few sides, nice bottle of wine, and a soufflé for dessert. Food fantastic but the bill was pretty hefty for two people. This is a great special occasion restaurant but wouldn't be able to dine here on a weekly basis."

  • "The restaurant is well staffed with professional waiters and chefs. The menu is specialized offering quality fresh and perfectly seasoned meals. Atmosphere is very relaxing and inviting. We went as two couples and shared a variety of delicious sides with our main entrees. We can return as just a couple and be able to order dishes to share and enjoy. Must remember to leave enough room for dessert next time! "
