Diner Reviews
  • "Best dinner I have had in years. Appetizers were bacon wrapped dates stuffed with Blue cheese and drizzled with balsamic, pork belly and fruit chutney bruscetta, beet and goat cheese green salad with greens from back garden, Wild Chinook Salmon with fingling potatos and root vegetables and I had venison loin. Truly a magical night, seriously. Overlooking the Methow river, fly fisherman on their back deck."

  • "This is not only the best restaurant for 100 miles around, it is the best restaurant outside of Seattle, and it compares favorably even then. Large portions of perfectly prepared dishes. A large portion of sautéed duck breast could not have been better. Steak frites again just what we hope for and often don't get: cooked "rare, medium rare," a phrase I had never heard but which is exactly right. Local ingredients and organic when possible. Gracious service, locally owned."

  • "We have been coming to the Methow Valley for many years during June/July, and always make plans to have dinner at the Arrowleaf Bistro. The food is great, and sometimes a little different which is nice. I don't know if we go back because of the great food, or the great staff, but we always go back. We have a wonderful time and enjoy a leisurely dinner. This year we made reservations for two nights, as we knew we would find things we enjoy for dinner. We were very pleased by the Hawaiian Swordfish special this year. It was wonderful. I almost had it again the second night, but we had the Steak and Frites and SOB instead. We were not disappointed. The appetizers are unique, bacon wrapped dates, and the radishes were especially good."

  • "While in Winthrop for our 13 year anniversary, my wife and I dined at the Aerospace as the menu was impressively ranged for such a small town. We were astonished at the reality. Our server was attentive, interested and actually enthusiastic about their offerings. The food presentation was beautiful, artistic and unexpectedly creative. The actual taste astonished me. I declare that their special that night of rabbit was my best restaurant meal of the year thus far. While the menu is pricier than other dining spots in the area, the taste, quality and magnificence of their meals stands head and shoulders over anyone within hundreds of miles."

  • "Don't be deceived by its humble street appearance. We sat outside watching the river flow by and ate the most delicious trout and bison burgers. They carried local beers which were very good. Our waiter was professional and helpful. I would go back in a heart beat."

  • "We don't have to travel to a big city or Europe to enjoy fine food and friendly service."

  • "Best in the town (but isn't much to pick from except burgers & mexican). Especially nice scenic view "if" weather is nice enough to sit outside. Friendly and good service. Food was good - but expensive and VERY small portions! A chicken dish is $27! Stuffed date appetizer is awesome - but again EXTREMELY small! I would them recommend more, and go there definitely A LOT more, "if" they had more reasonably priced appetizers and entrees. I wish they had a GREAT happy hour (i.e. yummy reasonably priced appetizers with decent sized portions) as there deck would make an awesome outdoor happy hour spot, but alas, people end up going to the Winthrop SchoolHouse Brewery due to expensive pricing."

  • "We dined on Friday June 6th at the Arrowleaf Bistro. The food and dining experience were excellent and we'd highly recommend spending an evening there if your traveling through the Winthrop Washington area. From starter to entree, the preparations were imaginative and well done. They focus on locally sourced food and this was found throughout the menu. The staff was attentive and exceptionally friendly, which we found complemented the cuisine. Its a true gem in North Central Washington; don't miss it. "

  • "I was in town to run a race and decided to try out Arrowleaf based on the great reviews. I was hoping to get some fish but scallops were the seafood option and I decided to pass on that. I had the house salad and the homemade tagliatelle. The pasta was wonderful and I had some very good local Syrah. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to others for great ingredients and interesting dishes."

  • "We had eaten here previously and I was looking foward to a return visit. Unfortunately, my meal was served lukewarm to almost air temperature after a long wait. Chicken Marakesh seemed overcooked , skin black, mini vege mushy instead of crisp, the quinoa had no flavor. It may have been enhanced by the tazaki ?? sauce but it was almost non -existent.Yogurt must be the new caviar. Our waitress was occupied with other tables and not on the patio very frequently. It was early in the season, the restaurant was not very busy so it was difficult to understand the mediocre food and service experience. Dining on the outdoor patio was very nice, overlooking the rivers! Recommend a jacket, as it can be windy or get colder as the sun goes down."

  • "Without a doubt the best food on the east side. We drive 200 plus miles at least once a month to experience the local fresh ingredients Chef Jon Brown can masterfully prepare to perfection. I had the S.O.B. steak which was cooked perfectly rare and topped with amazing homemade onion rings along with a house prepared sauce. To say the least, this steak would be worth the drive from the west side by itself! My Lover had the pork chop, which was also cooked perfectly, and complimented with a sweet potato and brussel sprout hash that was diced by hand and was so good it would make a person who hates brussel sprouts be a part of the clean plate club. We finished with a Napoleon desert made by Chef Joanne that will make you want to make babies!"

  • "The appetizers and salads were way overpriced and the quality and value doesn't match up. The entrees were equally expensive beyond reason. $16- for two fresh rice wrapped spring rolls is outrageous. This place takes advantage of small town tourist."

  • "I am a local and love this restaurant. The service is friendly yet professional. There is no pressure to hurry and the dishes are described with knowledgeable detail. I often order the SOB steak. It is always cooked to perfection and presented in a number of creative ways. Jon, the chef, uses local meat and veggies when possible, only the freshest ingredients. Don't miss this gem. You will not be disappointed!"

  • "We always enjoy our dinners at Arrowleaf Bistro. They have a wonderful selection of delicious foods. The service is friendly and attentive. The portions are generous and although the prices are a bit high it is a good value. We will continue to look forward to our meals there."

  • "We have dined at Arrowleaf Bistro several times and each time we have had a wonderful meal with excellent service. On our most recent visit my wife had the lamb shank, which was excellent, and I had the halibut which was perfectly cooked. We couldn't resist the hazelnut and chocolate tart for dessert. We will definitely be dining there again very soon."

  • "We're Part-timers in the Methow Valley and enjoy our occasional visits to Arrowleaf. We've never been disappointed. Food and Service would compete easily with any restaurant West of the Cascades."

  • "Arrowleaf Bistro is a jewel in the crown of Winthrop! The food and preparation are obviously given much thought from farm to table, appetizer to dessert. Always fresh, lovely on the plate and palate, meat, fish and veggies are cooked perfectly. Just the right amount of choices on the menu, something for everyone. Such a treat when we dine at the Arrowleaf Bistro!"

  • "Jon and Joanne have made Arrowleaf my favorite restaurant in Winthrop. The food is consistently delectable and rivals anyplace on the west side. It is definitely a neighborhood gem."

  • "There are very few places in all of Okanogan County that are worthy of a special dinner occasion. Arrowleaf Bistro is certainly at the top of my list. The Bistro not only provides a gourmet menu in a cozy environment, but its price point makes it easy to select for both celebration occasions (birthdays, anniversaries), and when you just want to treat yourself to a lovely meal."

  • "We enjoyed a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner. Menu is always eclectic and original, ingredients fresh, and the servers always welcoming. Was surprised to see they remembered us from years past while asking where are kids are...in college. We've returned every year for the last 5 years."

  • "We had excellent food and service. Our server was especially gracious. When we arrived there were several other couples dining quietly and the ambience was initially perfect. But then a group of six came in who were way too loud, so that we had difficulty conversing without having to raise our own voices. We considered complaining but decided to stick it out. I don't know what the restaurant management could have done, especially as the noisy group included some prominent people in our community, but be aware that the restaurant is small and if your fellow diners are not respectful you will definitely notice them."

  • "Superbly prepared, local, seasonal dishes. One of the best, most memorable meals we've eaten in a restaurant (including very nice restaurants in Seattle) in a very long time. Will definitely return next time we are in Winthrop."

  • "I have only eaten here for their Thanksgiving dinner this year and it was excellent. Great service, wine, food and ambience. Kids enjoyed it thoroughly too, plenty of variety in the food for everyone's tastes with the traditional and non-traditional foods. Great experience - I want to do it again next year!"

  • "A wonderful local restaurant, small and with a warm ambiance. The service was friendly and professional and the food excellent. My smoked trout brandade appetizer was delicious. My wife had the SOB filet for her entree which was beautifully tender and succulent. It was accompanied by fingerling potatoes, brussels sprouts and carrots, all perfectly cooked.. I chose the pork chop for my entree which was equally delicious. We only had room to share one dessert between the two of us - a moist cheesecake. Will definitely go there again."

  • "I love the relaxed feel of this place and the high quality food that is consistently served. We ordered the shrimp appetizer and practically licked the plate clean after fighting over the last shrimp. We sampled all three salads, house green, beet and emmer and found all to be delicious and interesting combinations of ingredients. The fresh trout special was amazing, served on a bed of brussel sprouts, topped with a mouth watering aioli sauce. Beer and wine was affordable and tasty, service was friendly and well timed. A gourmet experience in the western themed town of Winthrop..something to treasure and return to over and over again."

  • "This sweet little restaurant was a pleasure to dine in: a lovely ambiance, very competent service and good, fresh food. I rated it as very good as opposed to excellent because the food simply wasn't special. It was made with fresh ingredients and prepared quite well, but was neither unique nor memorable. I had the fish of the night, a coho salmon, which was delicately flavored and served with faro ( the best part- quite delicious.) It was beautifully presented. Our starter ( a pear and onion tart) was also quite good and my dessert ( a classic creme brulee) was yummy. Yet, I don't feel pulled to rave about the food because it was what I expected, and no more, for the price we paid in a small mountain town."

  • "We've been coming to Arrowleaf whenever we're in the Methow Valley, and have yet to be disappointed. It's cozy regardless of the season, and does a great job with local ingredients. It's also very kid-friendly, which is a plus for our family. The wine list is small but focused on WA and NW winemakers and varietals, which complements their food well."

  • "Nice place for dining in the Methow Valley. Service friendly and competent. Food good with fresh ingredients. Yummy chocolate macaroons. The culinary cocktail I ordered needed some work -- all I tasted was sparkling wine and none of the other ingredients."

  • "Dinner not have been better. We had the beet strudel for appetizer and could have ordered a couple more and called it the dinner, and I am not really a great fan of beets. We also had two of the house salads, and could have well split one. For dinner we had a pork shank and the special of boneless lamb, and for dinner the apple cheesecake. The dressings and sauces were splendid. The knives served to cut the meat were hardly needed, and the meat was so tasty. The cheesecake was filled with apple and sharing a slice was a nice finish to the meal. I would classify the "Bistro" as fine dining. The service matched the meal, leisurely without feeling slow - the course of our meal being a little under 1.5 hours."
