A word from Arro
Arro is the latest endeavor from ELM Restaurant Group (24 Diner, Easy Tiger Bake Shop & Beer Garden). At the helm of this casual French spot is ELM’s executive chef/partner, Andrew Curren, accompanied by his wife, pastry chef Mary Catherine Curren.

The focus of Chef Drew’s kitchen is a wood-fired grill, and he will continue his philosophies of preparing all food to exacting standards in house and incorporating local and organic products whenever possible. This commitment has earned him many accolades from local press as well as mentions in Food & Wine, Bon Appétit and Saveur magazines. Mary Catherine and her team will craft a thoughtful menu of both traditional and seasonal desserts on site, and bread will be baked fresh daily at Easy Tiger.

The exclusively French wine list was curated by two master sommeliers: Craig Collins and Devon Broglie. Classic apéritifs and handcrafted cocktails, as well as a thoughtful selection of beers, are available.

Diner Reviews
  • "Our experience was great (food, service, cocktails)...although the acoustics are tough. Because the kitchen was running behind a bit, the waiter thoughtfully brought a bread & cheese plate for a snack before our entrees arrived."

  • "Go here for a unique glass of wine. The food was fantastic and not overpriced. We will definitely be back. "

  • "Good food, nice place, very good service. The pot du creme was memorable!"

  • "Arro is a nice restaurant. Service was good and offered some unique options. My issue was the price to value... I would not classify Arro on the level they price it at. Some nice flavors, but at $50 per person I would have expected a little better execution. I agree with a few comments that the prix fixe menu is rather sparse on the entree side. Good experience, just over priced."

  • "Above average food. But I was still hungry after ordering a salad appetizer and a salmon main course. And I'm not a big eater. Luckily their bread was very good, so I filled up with that. The salad advertising a fromage blanc had four tiny drops of said fromage. Very ungenerous. Too precious for me. Wine list and by the glass excellent."

  • "This wasn't my first time at Arro, but this particular visit was to cater to my aunt, someone who prides herself on her taste and wine knowledge. I hope that Arro would fulfill my expectations with a very picky guest, and they did not disappoint. The waiter was full of suggestions and helpful tips, he helped us choose a great wine and the food was delicious. You guys made me look good with my restaurant choice, and for that I'm very thankful."

  • "The lobster bisque and chocolat pot de creme were great but the entrees available for the $25 3 course meal were minimal. You have a choice of a salad, a sandwich or frog legs (an appetizer) as an entree. I chose outside of the set 3 course meal and for $29 the grilled salmon was ordinary, nothing special and the vegetables with it were sparse. The wine list is wonderful, all French wines and the service was impeccable. I think the prices are too high for the ordinary and un-inventive menu that was presented."

  • "Visited Arro for dinner with two foodie friends. 2 of us got the prix fixe -- a great way to sample the menu. All the food was excellent and beautifully presented. Desserts were especially good. A little noisy but staff promptly reseated us in a quieter area. Waitstaff very attentive -- and we especially enjoyed our waiter, Rian. Will definitely be back."

  • "The lobster bisque was disappointing and overcooked. It lacked the finesse found in this dish in other restaurants. The salmon was very good (my wife) but the portion served was slight. The seafood stew had a nice flavor but could use more seafood. A friend had the quail and said it was wonderful."

  • "The food was excellent but the noise was very loud."

  • "The server did not let us finish sitting down before requesting our drink order and asking if we wanted bread. If a restaurant is going to charge $2 per person for bread, it would be preferable to give customers an opportunity to read the menu first. As diners who would normally order three courses each, we consciously decided to share a single starter and order our main courses and wine after being questioned about ordering too many times. Our server did cover cheese for dessert after we told him it was a special occasion. However, given the poor rushed service and two steak dinners that were less than tender and inconsistently cooked, I would not recommend Arro to friends or family. Overall, very disappointing."

  • "I ordered the lamb shank and it was not good as half of it was fat. My friends encouraged me to send it back and I ordered the steak frittes. The meat was tough, it was bland (needed salt) and the frittes were over done. I had heard great things about the restaurant, but it did not meet expectations. The Pot de Creme was excellent. I also thought the place has a great vibe, however!"

  • "Service was outstanding. Very knowledgeable and friendly waiters. Only complaint was that even though the restaurant was half full they sat us right next to a large, loud table. Somewhat difficult to have a conversation with the tables so close to each other."

  • "I have never been to a French-Gourmet type restuarant. Our server Brent was very knowledgable, patient, and great server. The razor clams, salmon tartar, quail, and the pork chop we over the top amazing. What made dinner even better was when I asked Brent to pair my food & wine, he made and excellent choice. I can't wait to go back & my friends are prolly tired of hearing about my experience there. Great Food & Great People!"

  • "Do not miss the bread! It is the best and far better than any French baguette I have had in the States and many places in France. Antonelli's's cheeses are excellent. Fine wine list. Attentive service. Very good food."

  • "Lovely decor, inspired menu, fasinating wine list. We all three ordered the 3-course for $25 option. I was not impressed by the lobster bisque- seemed greasy which was weird but husband had the French Onion Soup and it was stellar. Other in our party had the salad and it was really good. We did order the bread plate which was a nice starter as well. The Croque sandwiches - girl and boy- were great. The mussels were the star of the show though. The true highlight was dessert. OMG- so glad we opted for the 3-course just for the dessert!! The chocolate cake with the mango or passionfruit coulee? center was amazing. The homemade ice cream made me want to lick the plate. Guys got the pot de creme and it was very good also. Great service too."

  • "I've dined at Arro numerous times. Each time has been perfect in regards to food, service, and drinks. A plus is the wonderful ambience. Like so many restaurants, Arro can be loud at times in which case I would suggest the enclosed patio. Whether you want to have a full dining experience or simply come in for a drink and apps, Arro is a must. They also serve a wonderful coffee and amazing desserts to finish off any evening. The valet parking makes it even easier to enjoy Arro. Definitely work a try..again and again."

  • "This is another restaurant that is working for a level of sophistication generally missing in Austin, and is upon verge of success. Staff very friendly, but tend to over explain. Lobster bisque well flavored, but short on lobster and slight burned taste. Breads and cheeses excellent and the ham is as good as any I ever ate in France. Will return and expand choices from set menu. Only real negative--- pot de creme was simply too sweet to eat."

  • "I don't go out that often but when I do I usually try to stick to nicer places as I'm taking my girlfriend out and she's all about delicious food. I'm not complaining about this place and it was still a good experience but she order scallops and she received the smallest portion of food I have ever seen for a dinner entree. We ordered dessert and we still had to go pick up a burger after we finished eating because she was still hungry. By the way, she's a pretty petite woman and can't even eat that much. So after spending around $100 I at least expected amazing service or something. There was nothing that great about the entire time there. Just a normal night out."

  • "It is a nice dining experience. We had planned to get the price fixed dinner but then decided on the steak frites and a dessert. The frites were great, nice and crispy and brown. The steak and bernaise sauce were also really good. I still want to order the price fixed dinner and will when we return. I actually saw a lot of menu items I would like to try. The wine list is nicely done with a wide range of prices, which I appreciated. I can't stand paying more than $10 for a glass of wine."

  • "Went for the soft opening and their mussels needed work. Just went back and was knocked off my feet! Mussels were excellent, steak frites were awesome, vegetable pastry is divine!!!! Only critic is to put the fries in a separate container and not dump them on top of the mussels. No one likes soggy fries."

  • "Felt very special and treated with top-notch service from at least 4 wait staff. Very attentive and congratulatory on our special evening. The wine list is extensive French - our favorite. Lamb shank and pot de creme were our favorites of the night."

  • "We thought Losing haddingtons was a huge loss! But this place is just as good!! A plus on ambiance, it's brighter and more open. Food is amazing and super reasonably priced. Quality is outstanding and the cocktails were good. Bread was from easy tiger and of course amazing and the pecan butter was to die for!! Will become a regular!"

  • "We had a wonderful meal. There were six of us and we all ordered 2 courses or more so we tasted (or at least saw) more than half the menu!. Everything was delicious and nicely presented. The servers were professional and everything about the place had a good vibe."

  • "What a perfect dining experience. Get the frog legs. I'm not kidding. They're like butter. Mussels, lamb, and cassoulet were also fantastic. Flawless Saturday night."

  • "Reading menus after a long at SXSW, I wanted something yummy, pleasurable and decadent. A new friend told me about Arro and when I saw they had Chocolate pot de creme, it was on! Oddly enough the very thing that enticed me to eat there was my least favorite dish that evening. Our waiter was fabulous, he allowed us to ask a lot of questions and gave us great advice. I made the evening a night of starters and enjoyed each flavor and mouthful. Here are my favorites in order or pleasure! Lobster Bisque Bone Marrow & Pistou Chicken Liver Mousse Steak Tartare Chocolate Pot de Creme Still wanting another bowl of that bisque!"
