A word from Arro
Arro is the latest endeavor from ELM Restaurant Group (24 Diner, Easy Tiger Bake Shop & Beer Garden). At the helm of this casual French spot is ELM’s executive chef/partner, Andrew Curren, accompanied by his wife, pastry chef Mary Catherine Curren.

The focus of Chef Drew’s kitchen is a wood-fired grill, and he will continue his philosophies of preparing all food to exacting standards in house and incorporating local and organic products whenever possible. This commitment has earned him many accolades from local press as well as mentions in Food & Wine, Bon Appétit and Saveur magazines. Mary Catherine and her team will craft a thoughtful menu of both traditional and seasonal desserts on site, and bread will be baked fresh daily at Easy Tiger.

The exclusively French wine list was curated by two master sommeliers: Craig Collins and Devon Broglie. Classic apéritifs and handcrafted cocktails, as well as a thoughtful selection of beers, are available.

Diner Reviews
  • "We went to Arro to celebrate my husbands birthday and happened upon their own 1 year anniversary celebration. The dinner special they were offering was fantastic. The food was wonderful as always."

  • "Great service from server as well as Som! He was very accommodating of my wine requests and allowed me to taste a variety if wines. Chef s's board was delicious, enjoyed the bread from Easy Tiger. Tartare was the best I've had in Austin, well seasoned and great quality. Trout salad fell flat in comparison. I would say the fish was over salted. Dessert was ok. Pastry seemed dry and cream seemed old."

  • "I have been to Arro twice before and loved it. We had an enjoyable night on our last visit. The appetizers were great! We were a little disappointed with our entrees. I had the seafood stew and it was definitely good, but not as good as I had remembered (maybe that was me). My husband had the pork and felt it was bland and needed more. Our daughter had the Croque Madame and absolutely loved it!!! Beware it is really loud!!! Definitely worth a visit!"

  • "We have never had a bad experience at Arro. The atmosphere is casual yet elegant enough in nature to make it a great date or special occasion place. Let the waitstaff help guild you in choosing a cheese, bread, charcuterie board as a starter - You won't be disappointed. The wine list is second only to the knowledgeable and friendly somms. I can't say enough positive things about Arro - It is our go to restaurant when people visit, we are celebrating a special occasion, or just want a really memorable date night."

  • "Arro is one of our favorite restaurants. The food and service are wonderful. It's a real "foodie" spot, but not fussy. We are repeat customers and will continue to be customers."

  • "Excellent hi end restaurant on the edge of downtown, 6th and nueces. Entrees include duck, quail, pork loin as well as the usual suspects. Good wine list. My only slight quibble is they charge for bread. Valet parking $8"

  • "I took my 83 year old mother for an early dinner. The food was great, the service excellent. The only problem was the noise level interfered with her hearing aids. She does not eat a lot and was thrilled with the $25 three course meal. It was just the right amount of food for her and let her try several dishes, including the profiteroles for dessert."

  • "We've been to Arro many times ... this was the best!! Food and service, excellent. Noise level moderate, not a problem in most of the insude seating. We included a special request with the Open Table reservation, and it was obvious they had the request and fulfilled it. Arro is definitely one of my Top 5 in Austin, I'll be back!!"

  • "My friend and I go around monthly to all the great, new places around Austin to try and ARRO was one of our best experiences. The food was wonderful, the server was observant and friendly, the pace of the meal was perfect. I was very pleased with everything and would reccomend to friends."

  • "This was our first experience at ARRO after several recommendations by friends. We loved it and will return. The service was excellent as well as the food."

  • "We routinely dine out in downtown Austin, and I have fond memories of Arro, particularly when it first opened. Love the genuinely brasserie-type bar - it has perfect lighting and sleek ambiance. This time around, we had a great bottle of well-priced St. Emilion - my favourite region, but everything else was pretty...mundane. The steak frites - an easy win - was boring at best, pre-sliced and artlessly arranged. Mine was certainly over-cooked. The frites were limp and unremarkable. The butter that accompanied the bread was an artisan's treat, but all told, our tab was $200.00. We habitually overtip, but there are only two of us - making this trip to Arro decidedly unenthusiastic."

  • "Everything was fabulous. Waitstaff was super attentive, food was delicious (charcuterie and bone marrow tops), the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming. Would definitely return for any special occasion!"

  • "We got there on the tail end of happy hour to get great pre-dinner drinks. All at the table chose the 3 course meal. I had the tart, croque provencal w/ an egg on top. The tart was a puff pastery w goat cheese and veggies. Was a nice opener to the meal. The sandwich was fantastic, great egg and fresh veggies and cheese in it . The dessert I chose was was the pot de creme w/ brandy sauce. SO rich and delish! Definitely want to come back here again! Highly recommended."

  • "Fantastic food. Attentive staff. But not a quiet place."
    Dined on 7/3/2014
  • "Food was good. Don't like that they charge for bread. Had a sarcastic and non attentive male server. He ruined the evening. Please try better arro and we typically like your place."

  • "We were extremely satisfied with the food and service. All is all everything was wonderful. I am giving Arro 4 out of 5 because the seating was uncomfortable. I would prefer to give a 4.95 but the system won't let me ;)."

  • "Knowledgeable staff, sommelier, quality food. The bread/cheese board was homemade and delicious. The trout salad wasn't outstanding, average tasting and looking. The herb tart lacked flavor and a bit dry. Usually food a bit fresher/flavorful. Overall, I feel it is a good experience and would recommend"

  • "Great interpretation of bistro cuisine. Nice wine list, great prices, notable desserts. Chocolate tart rules."

  • "The menu is very straight forward, but that made ordering easy. The food wasn't spectacular, but it was affordable and appetizing."

  • "I requested a quiet romantic table. We were seated in between three rowdy happy hour groups of women in their 20's. When I asked for a different table, I was told they couldn't move us even though I could see other available tables. In the future, I'm going to LaV for a romantic dinner."

  • "2nd visit to ARRO. Great wine list. Good food. Dimple bistro fare that is consistent and delicious."
    Dined on 6/25/2014
  • "Food was wonderful. Staff were a little overly attentive. Less than 20% full and getting loud toward the end. They could use some padding on the floors/walls. Sole negative was the obvious lack of a dress code. Couple at the next table over looked as if they were digging ditches all day long."
    Dined on 6/24/2014
  • "We really love the atmosphere here, but the food is just ok. The lobster bisque is really good, but everything else lacks pizazz or imagination, is under-seasoned, and the servings are very minimal. I almost never ask for salt and pepper in a nice restaurant, but for this one it was necessary. The presentations lack heart, as well. They do have a great bar and it's a lovely place, so we're thinking if we find ourselves there again we'll just sit at the bar and we'll order starters only."

  • "Outstanding Wine list, very good french cuisine. Need a bit more creativity in the recipes to get stars but the products are excellent and that is the base many restaurants are missing. A solid "Go and Dine there with your date;-)""

  • "This is one of those spots that you go to every once in a while, but you always look forward to visiting again."

  • "The Arro must have been Cupid's because we loved this place! The staff was accommodating, attentive and knowledgeable, the food was inventive and delectable, and the atmosphere was lively but comfortable. Everyone in our party of five had something different from the bar and the menu, and each of us raved that ours was the best. I will definitely return soon and recommend it to others!"

  • "The food and service were OK, but my wife and I both wear hearing aids and the noise level, even in the "quiet part" was so high as to make it almost impossible to understand the wait staff or each other."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "Our drinks were okay, but the food made an impression (fresh, vibrant-colored salads, beautifully presented apps and perfectly seasoned) and the patio was so pretty and pleasant. Perfect catch-up happy hour with a girlfriend."

  • "We spent a big sum of money, but the food wasn't worth it. If I'm going to drop three digits, it should be amazing."
    Dined on 6/6/2014
  • "Enjoyed wine, cheese and food but the restaurant would not let us eat cupcakes we brought in for a friends birthday without paying a $5 per person cake fee... Thought that was a little snooty and I've never had that problem at other nice restaurants in Austin. That was disappointing..."
    Dined on 6/5/2014
  • "We really enjoyed our dinner at Arro. It should be noted that we went early and had a toddler, so the restaurant was not busy, so I can't say what the noise level is usually like. But for a 6pm meal, it was pretty quiet. We had great service - very attentive, friendly, and efficient. The food was excellent. We had the bread and charcuterie (the duck salami with orange was wonderful). I had the steak frites and my husband had the lamb chops. Both were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Wine was excellent. One of our new favorite spots!"

  • "Food was great, service was great, seating was a problem. Many empty chairs in the restaurant sat unused the entire time we were there, despite being told they were "full" with reservations. Very unaccommodating hostess staff ...."

  • "My favorite place in town. Perfectly executed, gorgeous French food that isn't stuffy or overburdened with history. Also the best gin & tonics in the entire city come from here."

  • "I like Arro... I really want to LOVE Arro. Classic french, done well, is unequaled in terms of deeply satisfying flavors. Arro missteps in a few places. Our mains were fabulous, well balanced, lovely flavor/texture. Crispy skin on the fish, sauces and seasoning perfect. The bone marrow though is over-wrought. Why the stuff on top?? Let the marrow shine on its own, it should be the star of that show. And grill the bread more/slice it thinner, so you get that grilled toasty flavor along with the marrow & parsley salad. And always, ALWAYS serve with a large flake sea salt. "

  • "I have visited Arro a handful of times, and the food has always been very, very good. The lobster bisque is velvety and fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed my quail on this past visit, a dish I had not tried before. I gave four stars for the service because my wife ordered fries as a side with her entree, but the took forever delivering it, near the end of the dinner itself. (They didn't take it off the bill either.) But this will not keep me from returning again and again. I love the food, and the all-French wine list is varied and exciting."
