Diner Reviews
  • "We eat at Arpeggio each evening that we have tickets to the NYPhil. It's location makes it easy for us to get to the concert on time every time and have a nice dinner beforehand. The shrimp cocktail bruschetta was wonderful! The lasagna is a favorite of my husband and there's and interesting choice of menu items if you don't want to do the prix fixe, which is limited."

  • "We went for the price fixe at $47. I had the chicken which was good, albeit a bit dry. The veggies served with it were cooked to perfection!! My dining partner had the Salmon. It was sent back as it was very over cooked and dry. Version two was almost as dry. My guess is that the Salmon is precooked and just reheated. The Salmon has probably just laid out in a pan and was precooked hours ago. The chocolate mousse was fair. Apeggio is the place to go if its raining or nasty and you want the convenience of not having to walk outside."

  • "I WAS surprised: absolutely delicious. I had the brook trout. Considering that diners here come for the concert, and have to get finished with the meal and paying on time, the quality of everything deserves praise. The service staff had to work hard to get everyone finished well before concert starting time, but managed to be pleasant and helpful. Obviously other visits will happen anyway, but I can actually look forward to them."

  • "With two hours before the symphony, this is the perfect place to relax and get in the mood for the wonderful music ahead"

  • "We have dined several times here. Sometimes the experience is good, but this time it was not. Food was pretty ok, but there was not enough selection for our vegetarian diner. He asked for a "vegetable plate", but was served four very large vegetable sides, 'way too much, although two of the four contained ingredients that he could not eat. She also was not knowledgeable about the fact that the soup contained meat; she said it did not. We were overcharged for this, had to send the bill back. Service was quite slapdash."

  • "So convenient when at LC. But menu is limited and and food fair"

  • "My wife and I dine @ Arpeggio before NY Philharmonic concerts, sometimes with an orchestral friend. Food and service are good. Convenience of being right in the Hall can't be beat. As long time customers, we usually get a table in our favorite section."

  • "The food is OK but not exceptional. The wine is good and reasonably priced, and the service is excellent. Arpeggio is very convenient and fast for dining prior to a Lincoln Center concert or event."

  • "Recent change in chef for the good. Service is sometimes attentive to concertstart. The last time so bbad I didn't leave a tip. Get one of the women. They get it."

  • "Would love if this place did a decent job - go to Lincoln Center a lot. But the food and service need the same redo the space got. Not planning to give them an encore."

  • "Our waitress was very nice. Expensive($17) glass of wine served in a cheap glass. Atmosphere would be greatly improved if the lights were dimmed. Food was mediocre. The best thing was that we avoided the rain."

  • "Located in the lobby of Avery Fisher Hall, Arpeggio at first glance seems like a spot for a quick bite but looks are deceiving. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the drinks are generous and the food is great. Food prices are very reasonable for the area..."

  • "We have a subscription to the Philharmonic and enjoy Arpeggio. It is dependable in terms of food, ambience and staff and we have time for a leisurely dinner before the pre-concert lecture."

  • "WHAT no veal chop? Our disappointment was short-lived. Change is good! We both started with the Beet and Goat Cheese Terrine - Golden Beet Puree, Pickled Candy-Cane Beets, Red Sorrel. Our entrees was a very generous portion of Octopus Puttanesca Spaghetti, Garlic-Herb Muddica and Filet Mignon with Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus. Truly sublime! Service is always topnotch. Best place to dine in Lincoln Center area."

  • "Service was mediocre, the salad came wilted, the beet and fretata dish was boring and tasteless . The quality of the food was poor and understandably due to it location, in Loncoln Center, it is over priced. I won't eat there unless you are catching a concert there."

  • "Perfect pre concert at Lincoln Center. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Always delicious, well timed, visually enticing. Not inexpensive, but not over-priced...moderate. Eating at Arpeggio, you just FEEL Lincoln Center. I have often brought out of town guests to a performance and dinner. Never disappointed."

  • "Arpeggio offers a convenient place to dine before the opera a concert or the ballet at Lincoln Center. It is a more casual and less expensive alternative to the pricier and more elegant restaurants in the vicinity. We frequent Arpeggio before performances and would rate the food and service as very good. The wait staff will get you out in plenty of time to get to your show. Most recently we were very delighted to note that the chef has created a new menu that steps the quality and taste of the fare up a notch. If you go, get a table by the windows that look out on the bustling foot traffic in front of AveryFisher Hall. Your eyes can feast on the hub bub of New York while you dine before the show!"

  • "So disappointing! I live in the neighborhood and had tickets to Lincoln Center so I thought I would try it with my 2 friends. The main dining room was sad looking, no style whatsoever. The food was terrible and the prices they were charging were too high for the quality. Portions were small, and nothing tasted fresh ( we all had fish as our entrees) . There are so many other great restaurants in the neighborhood ( across the street) that there is no reason to go here! Needs a reboot!"

  • "Ate here before a show at Lincoln Center, and the proximity was the only reason I booked. I had eaten here a while back and it was ok, nothing special but nothing bad. The menu has changed since then, fewer choices but good ones. They seem to be participating in the dreary trend of making side dishes an extra charge, which I find objectionable on several levels. The waitress was efficient, however, the bread guy made a point of saying he would be back and then never was. Espresso was good. And of course, it's nice to linger when your tickets are for a venue just upstairs."

  • "A great convenience when attending an event at LIncoln Center and much improved food."

  • "I had not dined at the restaurant in Avery Fisher Hall in years. In the past, I had found the food mediocre and much too heavy for pre-concert dining. The recent colld weather in New York promted wanting a place that did not require too much walking in the wind, so I opted for Arpeggio. I was pleasantly surprised. The service is attentive and caring; the food, although pricey was uniformly good. I had the charcuterie cheese plate and it was a fantastic mix of flavors and accompaniments. The eggplant caponata was more authentic than many others I have tried. The risotto though was on the dry side. We were seated in the secondary dining area which is a bit cramped and on the loud side."

  • "My boyfriend ordered scallops and they were so fishy... impossible to eat. I ordered a pasta dish I didn't eat ...it tasted weirdly stale.. and pungent. I would not go back."

  • "Great food presentation. Rapini had a chemical burning taste that stayed as an after taste . Everyone loves the kale salad!"

  • "Went there mainly for the convenience of pre-theater dining at Lincoln Center.. They have a reasonably priced 3-course prix-fixe meal for $47. And with the appropriate coupon from the Playbills, you even get a free glass of wine with the meal, which is a great deal for being at the lobby of Avery Fisher Hall. The salmon main course was pretty good, though the starter salad was kind of small, and the dessert choice was quite limited."

  • "Very convenient for visitors to the Metropolitan Opera or other Lincoln Center venues-- especially in inclement weather. Food choices a bit limited but good. Lasagna is a good choice. The drinks were expensive."

  • "This restaurant is in the "lobby" of the Avery Fischer Hall at Lincoln Center, next to the famous fountain, opposite the Ballet and near the gorgeous Metropolitan Opera House. It is ideally located for before or after a performance. We arrived early for our reservation and we were seated without a problem. Probably not a "hot" bar scene but definitely inviting; would be a great place to meet for drinks before a show. Staff was friendly and efficient, atmosphere unpretentious, menu not extensive but truly delicious, and options for all types of eaters. Great wines, starters and sorbets. Not inexpensive, but there was also a prix fixe option that included 2 options from the regular menu. The atmosphere of Lincoln Center is worth it!"

  • "Arpeggio is a lovely restaurant. The comfortable ambiance is a mix of the vitality and elegance of Lincoln Center. What made my experience so positive was the staff. I had a 5:00 reservation and a 7:30 curtain. I was concerned that the staff would push my dinner along quickly and make me feel rushed. The opposite happened. My server was Miriam, who made sure, without any prompting from me, that I had ample time to relax, to digest, and to enjoy every course of my dinner. It was a pleasure. I felt like royalty! Everything was delicious and well prepared. I especially enjoyed the onion soup, the salmon lime-cilantro, and the bread pudding. My dining experience at Arpeggio was a special treat that I will remember for a long time."

  • "Great spot if attending one of the performances at Lincoln Center and don't want to travel to the venue after dinner.Service was excellent/attentive, but don't expect much by way of food or atmosphere. Daughter ordered a pasta dish that was supposed to have braised/shredded rabbit on it. Literally a tbsp of rabbit. My roast chicken with pureed butternut squash, roasted pumpkin seeds, and a root vegetable bread pudding was a chicken thigh (underdone), 6 pumpkin seeds, & just a spoonful of puree on the plate (more as garnish). Bread pudding was almost as large as the piece of chicken. If it weren't for the lousy weather (12 degrees) I would have dined at any one of the numerous other restaurants nearby.Won't do this again unless I have to."

  • "Perfect spot for dinner before the Opera. We had reservations and were seated very quickly. Once our order was taken the food came out quickly. Our server was friendly and efficient. The food was good, I had the lasagne and the serving was more than I could eat. My husband had the salmon and enjoyed my lasgane as well. We had plenty of time to have a leisurely meal and walk across the courtyard to the Opera."

  • "We eat at Arpeggio's rather often since we have a Philharmonic subscription, and the restaurant is located inside Avery Fisher Hall. Dining experience is always pleasant. Usually don't order wine, but we wanted to share a glass .... but $17 for one glass???? Really???"

  • "The Arpeggio salad which was $14, was miniscule. The menu listed all these wonderful ingredients but there was only about one bite of each, a tiny beet, a couple of small shavings of cheese. The main course was adequate but once again the vegetable portion was ridiculously small. They kept pushing the wines even though we stated that we were not drinking. The restaurant was quite disappointing."
