Join us at Aroma Kitchen & Winebar, a sultry East Village Italian restaurant and wine bar that focuses on pairing delicious market-fresh food with superior quality wines. Our intent is to let our guests expand their taste horizons and indulge in hand-picked indigenous wines in a setting that is as intimate as it is relaxed.
Vito, our Chef and Owner, is from the southern Italy (Basilicata) and has a passion for food and wine that is surpassed only by his love of eating and drinking and his desire to share his experiences. At Aroma Kitchen & Winebar, he showcases modern and regional Italian dishes. Guests come for our authentic meatballs (his mother's recipe), tender, charred Portuguese octopus, and above all, for the signature, homemade pastas like strascinati, busiate, and pici toscani, among other plates.
Two private, secluded dining rooms in the wine cellar are available for private parties.

It was freezing every time the door opened - which was A LOT. The table was also right in the door way so every waiter had to pass us to get to any table. It was distracting and left a really bad taste in my mouth - I don't even remember the service or the food."

  • "On a snowy evening, we were treated to a wonderful meal at Aroma Kitchen & Winebar. You enter Aroma through the comfortable bar area at the front, and proceed to a cosy room with fireplace and exposed brick walls. Complementary olives, bread and olive oil were the best I have ever had. The olives ('brined' on site) had a deliciously subtle flavour. The olive oil was the purest I've tasted in a restaurant setting. The feather-light bread was perfect for dipping. The stacked, warm beet salad had a lovely kick to it (the cheese element) and the black pasta with seafood was light yet very flavourful. The service was very personable, helpful and attentive. It felt more like we were having dinner with friends and that made our evening!!"

It felt like we were eating at someone's (very classy) house in part because the waitstaff (a young man from Southern Italy) was charming and welcoming without being intrusive. The whole place had a wonderfully friendly, neighborhood vibe even though people seemed to come from all over. Go early if you'd like to get a table. Both the winebar and the back restaurant started filling up quite a bit beginning at 7 and definitely by 8. The food was good but not knock-your-socks off fabulous. At least what I had. Grapefruit with octopus just didn't hang together. Seemed kind of arbitrary. However, the pasta dish with merguez was delicious. I'd go again and choose better."

Probably the most delicious Italian food you can find in all of Manhattan, considering it's price and it's personal touch. Whether it's for a special occasion, or a casual dinner and glass of wine, it's easily my go-to place. It's hard to find a reliable spot that you can refer to friends or go to yourself, but Aroma is certainly that place for me."

  • "My husband and I had date night here with another couple. We all tried several different wines and non of them disappointed. The wines by the glass pricing was great too. The menu has a nice amount of variety. The black linguine with seafood was amazing and even better yet was their beet salad tower. The main course were wonderful. We opted for dessert wine instead of dessert. I would highly recommend this restaurant for the food and the wine."
