  • It was ok

The food was good but we always had trouble getting the attention of our server. I don't think I've had an issue like this in years. One time in particular I waved at him twice and my boyfriend once. I was ready to get up and step in front of him. It was very disrespectful. i saw him stop several times at other tables before being bothered with us. Menus were left on the tabe as well as our "reserved" sign. It was my boyfriends birthday and we were so annoyed with how long it took for our server to get back to our table we went elsewhere for his birthday dessert, which by the way had an attentive server. The restaurant wasn't full and there was at least one other server. Although the food was good there's no way I'm going back.

This restaurant has become my husband and I's favorite place to stop for food in Canmore. It may appear benign on the outside but once you taste their delicious margaritas and outstanding food...they will have you dreaming of your next visit.

pleasant. salty. not as special as i had hoped. nothing jumped off the plate and onto my taste buds. however, given the lack of decent mex around these parts, i would suggest giving it a try.

The price was rather high, but probably on par for Canmore. The food was excellent. Serving sizes were nicely conservative. My husband and I shared the seafood fajitas for 2 - we both left quite full. The seafood was wonderfully spiced and none of it was overcooked or rubbery. We will definitly be back.

We had a confirmed Open Table reservation -- which they refused to honor. They wouldn't seat us, saying they were already full. The reservation was apparently meaningless.

The restaurant wasn't that busy yet the service was very slow. We were a party of 4 adults, a 3 year old and a baby, and it took 90 minutes from when we arrived to get our food. While the meal was delicious, the portions were much smaller than we expected, and quite expensive - poor value. $12 for a small pot of guacamole, and they charged $3 more for some salsa. The fajitas were also skimpy, and I am a fairly light eater! I was really excited to try this place based on the reviews and my love of Mexican food, but sadly it did not deliver. Maybe it was just an off night, but we will not be going back.

  • Horrible service, mediocre food

The service was horrendous. One member of our group never got her meal. It didn't come out with the rest of our meals and they said it was "very complicated to make" and so it took longer. Yet we saw somebody who ordered after get theirs at the same time as our food came out. We eventually cancelled the order when the rest of our group was done and ready to go! The food was just okay. No wonder we could get a last minute reservation here when everywhere else in Canmore was full! I would not recommend this place.

The food here is truly outstanding - one of the best restaurants in Canmore. I have typically had good service at this restaurant, but our waitress this particular time was disorganized and slow. Forgot some items, didn't know much about the menu, slow service in general, and not a busy night. Nevertheless, the food was amazing and I will return again and again - our little town is lucky to have this place!

Very Nice little restaurant. When if first opened they suffered from very slow kitchen service. This has now improved a great deal... but I would not recommend if you want a quick meal. Great for a leisurely evening dinner. Food very good, made consistently so by their relatively small menu! My husband love corn tortillas with his authentic Mexican meals... you have to ask for these and it generally takes time to get them... so order with meal if you will need extra corn tortillas!

I've never been to Mexico, but this is the best Mexican food I've had outside Southern California. I can imagine going to Canmore and not visiting this place. My husband and I couldn't decide what we wanted so shared an appy and two entrees and then couldn't decide what we liked best. Can't wait to go again and try something new!

  • Off Night at Aroma?

We suspect that there were kitchen troubles on the Thursday night that we visited. Dinner took almost an hour to be served. When it came, my husband's plate (which had obviously been sitting for some time and then been microwaved to reheat it) had the wrong sauce on it, the tortillas were hard and dried out, and it was cold on the outside and hot in the middle. The side plates of rice never came. My husband's dinner was inedible and he returned it. Fortunately he was not charged for his dinner. There were no vegetables to brighten up the plates which were a sea of brown mole sauce covering a tortilla which enclosed only meat. Very mediocre. A starter of chips and salsa would have been appreciated.

Excellent authentic Mexican cuisine in a non pretentious environment. It reminded me what real salsa and guacamole should taste like. This is a bistro like restaurant that fills up quickly - so on a crowded night service may be slower - just relax, sit back and enjoy the authentic margarita.

Checked a few sources for reviews of this restaurant prior to booking it. were swayed by the favorable review given by a noted Calgary food "critic" - we were disappointed. Note to self - he never gives bad reviews -hmm. Portions tiny relative to price, ie poor value. The quality was just OK - slightly better than what you'd get at a taco bell but not what I expect from a "fine" mexican restaurant. No vibrant flavors or textures you'd expect from fresh ingredients. Dish I had said "chicken breast"-did have some in it but most of the chicken was thigh meat or other tougher, cheaper parts of the bird - and not much meat in any case. Ambience, cold, dim and no view. Place 90% empty at friday lunch-should have heeded the warning
