Diner Reviews
  • "Arnaud's isn't bad, but there are many other better options in New Orleans. The food seemed mostly uninspired. We were in the Jazz Bistro, and if you like traditional jazz, the trio playing is pretty good."

  • "The food was fantastic, the service was second to none. We chose to eat in the jazz bistro and the band was good and just the right volume to have a normal conversation without shouting. "

  • "Excellent restaurant down town Nola with French signature dishes refined with Creole dining at its finest!"

  • "This was my first time in New Orleans and Arnaud's was awesome. The food was great. The service was great. And, the 3 man band played When the Saints Go Marching In at our request, making that night a wonderful experience. The only minor complaint that our group had was that there was a $4 "music fee" for the band playing. We didn't mind the charge, but would have liked to have been made aware of it upfront. Thank you again for a great time!"

  • "We dined there for the 1st time last year. The experience was just as great this year. THIS IS THE TOP RESTAURANT IN NOLA."

  • "First off, the food was excellant, and I would definitely return. I lowered the rating based on what the restaurant wants to be, not what it is. For a place with "collared shirts and jacket recommended for men" it certainly lacked some of the basics. No bread plates were available, although individual butter plates were provided. No sharp knife offered for the veal plates. Tiny wine glasses that were neither fit for Reds, nor suitable for Whites, although a decantor was made available for our wine selection. We were given the wine list and asked for our selection prior to seeing a menu for pairings. Wine list is fairly extensive, ranging from $3,000 bottles down to $40 bottles, I would expect more for the table setting."

  • "I was surprised. I've heard for years how this was one of the best restaurants in NO, but it is far from it. I was offered Sheepshead as a replacement fish for trout...sheepshead is a barnacle eating trash fish is compare w salt water catfish. Neither should replace good white fish like trout or snapper. Shame!"

  • "This is a GREAT restaurant. The service is great, the food is great, the atmosphere is great. Well worth the price."

  • "Great location. Had a group of 7 on a Friday night. Loved the rooms - very decadent with an amazing historic setting. Very friendly wait staff and were on point. Food was very average and pricey. Portions were small. They were even served on a small plate. It was a bit of a shock as our group had also eaten at other great locations that week. For this spot, I would either step up the food and raise prices even more or discount more to the level of the quality of food."

  • "Food was very, very good. Service also. Oysters were delicious. Bar was short on quality gins like Tanguaray ten or Hendricks."

  • "I have dined at Arnuads every time I visit New Orleans (usually at least once a year) since 1986 and it never disapoints. Food, service and ambiance is consistently excellent and makes Arnuads one of my favourite restaurents in the world."

  • "Arnaud's is still a time honored bastion of Creole cooking, which in my opinion, is the best indigenous cuisine in the United States."
    Dined on 4/10/2014
  • "Classic New Orleans spot - lives up to reputation and definitely not tired or trite. Other than the cocktails being too small, everything was great. Service was outstanding and the ambiance is refined and upscale. I would recommend to anyone and will go back once I get to the 10-20 other great NOLA restaurants on my list!"

  • "The first time I visited Arnaud's was when I was in high school on a family vacation. I have returned at least a dozen times since. Each time the service has been impeccable and the food close to divine. Arnaud's staff has a welcoming attitude that maintains a sense of tradition and decorum without being stilted or arrogant. The turtle soup is probably the best to be found in New Orleans. The bread comes in an somewhat unique shape that lends itself to pulling apart while staying hot. The menu is varied enough to accommodate varying tastes, including vegetarians. Although we did not have dessert, we saw others indulging in various items which looked delicious. A visitor to New Orleans cannot go wrong by dining at Arnaud's."

  • "My daughter researched restaurants in New Orleans and bought us a gift certificate for Arnaud's. We made reservations for the night of our 35th wedding anniversary. The waitstaff was exceptional. We were lucky to have Ronald and Hannibal serving us. The drinks and food were delicious. We ended our meal with flaming bananas foster, prepared at table side. It was a perfect evening and a very special way to celebrate our anniversary."

  • "Whole experience was unimpressive. Food was mediocre at best. Atmosphere- chaotic, service disjointed. Seems to be surviving on reputation and transient tourism."

  • "Great Jazz Brunch with live music, the oysters in brochette were amazing!"

  • "Even though located on busy and wild Bourbon Street, this restaurant nevertheless is the calm in the middle of the storm. The dining experience was thoroughly enjoyable: nothing negative to report about any aspect of the evening."

  • "We had dinner on arnaud's jazz bistro, same menu with Live jazz trio. It was really fun and traditional old school New Orleans food. Very fun and tasty."

  • "We had high expectations for Arnaud's. The friends we were with had been there before. The first waiter we had insisted we have the champagne cocktail (we did and liked it), but then proceeded to ignore us and scoffed when we asked to see the fixed menu. We saw it online--is it supposed to be a secret? Then another waiter came to take our order. She was better. The bread, wine, entrees and dessert were all very good, but we had a hard time getting over our initial treatment."

  • "best overall traditional new orleans dining there is. Just spectacular from start to finish. Take all the recommendations they give you, starting with the opening cocktail."

  • "This was my first visit. The food was good and service was prompt and helpful. Despite the seating being tables only with hard chairs, the noise level wasn't too bad. It was an enjoyable evening, that said, I am not sure I would go back because there are soooo many good choices in N.O.. It was good and if you have never been, you should go try it. The staff is certainly accommodating and want to make sure you make the right choice for your tastes."

  • "My wife and I recently visited New Orleans for the first time and we included Arnouds as a place we wanted to try based on previous restaurant reviews. We both travel with an eye out for the local foods, and we were not disappointed in the least with this choice. The ambience, the attentive staff and the wonderful food made us glad we choose your restaurant and one of the three evening dinner choices. Thanks for a great experience."

  • "We had a wonderful time in the Jazz Room! All of the staff were welcoming and made us feel right at home! Jazz trio musicians were top-notch and so friendly! For visitors to New Orleans, this was a festive evening. Right outside the dining room windows, all the rich nightlife of Bourbon Street!"

  • "We took our three sons, ages 10, 13 and 15. We had a good time. The two waiters were amazing. I had an entree that included veal, crawfish and crab cakes and I thought it was delicious. My husband and my sons cleaned their plates so I assume they enjoyed their meals too. I don't know if I would take smaller children there as they do not have a menu for children. My kids are used to eating out and trying new foods so for us it was fine. What made the evening really great was when our waiter took us upstairs after dinner for a tour of the other rooms and the mardi gras costume collection. He was wonderful at explaining about the ghosts and the history of Arnaud's. My family had a wonderful time and will return soon."

  • "Just spent 4 days in New Orleans with friends. Last night was at Arnaud's. Restaurant was quite busy when we arrived and pretty noisy over and above the musicians. We were able to converse normally at dinner. Food choices and quality were superb, we all loved everything we had. Service was very attentive but more personally remote than our other dining experiences. We all agreed the the pace of the meal was far to fast. We had drinks, appetizers, main course, coffee and dessert in just about an hour and a half, we would have preferred a more leisurely pace for such a fine meal."

  • "From the moment my wife and I walked in, until we left, we were treated like a king and queen. The staff made sure that our every need was taken care of in a timely, professional fashion. The food was prepaired perfectly and full of wonderful flavor."

  • "This was the best meal that I have had in New Orleans ever. The service and ambiance were fantastic. The history of Arnaud's is worth reading on their website before you go, so that you can really appreciate the dining room. The pecan crepe dessert was the highlight of the night - so incredibly delicate and delicious."

  • "We went to Arnaud's for the Jazz Brunch. We didn't hear very much Jazz - they have a jazz band that moves from room to room so you don't hear much from the other rooms. However, the food was absolutely fabulous and we enjoyed ourselves very much. If your looking for Jazz its better to hit Maison Bourbon on Bourbon Street or head for Frenchman's Street."

  • "We had a wonderful experience at Arnaud's Jazz Cafe. Where else can you have a delicious dinner with a jazz trio performing at your table? The service was attentive and responsive. The food was beautifully plated and delicious. A New Orleans experience that should not be missed!"

  • "On my last night in New Orleans I dined alone at this extrodinary place where I had far better cuisine and service than ever experienced in Paris. I had at least 5 people waiting on me, every course was delicious and well prepared, I wanted for nothing. Some restaurants treat single diners differently perhaps because they know the bill will be smaller, but I felt like a queen. The restaurant is beautiful. My only slightly off observation was that I was at least half the age of the average customer."

  • "We have eaten at all the fine restaurants in New Orleans...and there are many...... however, this was our first time at Arnauds. It is now our favorite. Our table captain, Rick, was one of the best we have experienced throughout the world......friendly (not stuffy), professional and in total charge of our table. The wine selection was outstanding with wines ranging in price from $30 to thousands. And the food......just one word......memorable! We travel to New Orleans once per year for a weekend of fine food and wine picking a new place each time. However, from this point on, one of those meals will always be at Arnauds."

  • "The dining room with the jazz band was a very nice setting. Our food, however, fell short of our expectations. Considering the resturants reputation, we left somewhat displeased."

  • "Like those quaint sounding taverns in Colonial Williamsburg that turn out to shovel mediocre food at you, Arnaud's was a profound disappointment. One of the oldest mainstays of the New Orleans French Quarter, Arnaud's dispels the adage that you can't get a bad meal in New Orleans. Not terrible exactly, but utterly indifferent and uninspired (with tiny portions). Beware the bait-and-switch on the vintage year of your wine order. Only redeeming quality was old-school service. Very loud."

  • "We went there for the jazz music and dinner. We were mislead on the jazz. The food was above average and even though our steaks were overdone, that was replaced with 2 steaks done to perfection. The vegetables were al a carte and were enough for 2 people. Something that no one offered to tell us. The service was outstanding! The 3 men playing jazz went from table to table playing for tips and played by requests. this was disappointing, but we made the most of it"

  • "We saw an article that indicated that this restaurant was one not to miss in New Orleans. This was very accurate. The restaurant itself is very charming, the food was great. Service was impeccable. Very high end though so do not go here if expecting it to be cheap it is not."
