One the top ocasions was our Sunday Brunch & Jazz at Arnaud"s. Incidentally, it was mother"s day, the day we were there. Many families were gathered to celebrate. Very nice, seeing those happy families, very elegantly dressed in their best clothing, - from babies to grammas and granppas. Everything was magical for us: the ambient, the people, the food, the music. The service, captained by captain Lee, was perfect. Adorable waiters; despite of the sofistication of the place, we felt at home. I'm glad I had the chance to record a movie and take photos of that moment. We have a lifetime to remember souvenir. Quite the "old school" restaurant, lots of seersucker and some ladies in hats. We sat on the little balcony and at first I was a little disappointed that we couldn't see the band. When they came up and played songs according to our wishes at each table up there I was very happy we sat up there and got our own little live concert.
Definitely recommend the bananas foster dessert that is prepared live at the table. We were looking forward to comparing "classic" preparation to the newly evolved creole/cajun cuisine elsewhere in NO. The room and service didn't disappoint. We also enjoyed the jazz trio in the Jazz Bistro. The food was a disappointment.
The approach to food probably hasn't changed in a very long time. The signature souffle potatoes were cold and several were un-puffed. The trout had half a pound of almonds dumped on top and even the replacement dish lacked finesse. Overall, it felt like a kitchen that was unenthusiastically executing old recipes without any attention to detail and any accommodation to more contemporary approaches.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant surpriseI had not loved Arnaud's in years past, but we were able to get a relatively late reservation during Jazz Fest and decided to give it another try. Everyone in our party had a great meal. I had wonderful gumbo and had one of each of Arnaud's baked oyster selections. The service was excellent! The prix fixe menu offers a variety of choices, seafood, meat and egg dishes. It is a four course meal that is priced by the entree you choose. I enjoyed the Eggs Sardou - bed of creamed spinach (very slightly laced with Pernod I think) artichoke bottoms topped with perfectly poached eggs and light, lemony hollandaise. Yummy!!!
The dining room is bright and cheerful and not too cramped. And the strolling jazz musicians were excellent.

We requested a change and were given a nice table in the main dining room. We dined early, at 6:15, so the restaurant was not crowded. The waitress was very cordial and the food was delicious.
