Arlington Tavern brings the traditional tavern experience to modern day, in a contemporary atmosphere.

Chef Ron True serves his hand-crafted, farm fresh take on American Tavern classics, using the best local ingredients he can get his hands on.

Cozy tables set amongst red leather booths, exposed brick walls and a buzzing open kitchen set the scene for modern comfort cuisine at its best. Patio seating allows guests to enjoy dinner and drinks outside all year long.

  • "First time to visit the Arlington Tavern. We are from out of town. We had a wonderful waitress and the food was real good. We had the Gruyere Mac and Cheese for an appetizer and it was fabulous. The wines were very good. We had the fried chicken and the black cod for entrees, all cooked to perfection. Crème Brulee was yummy! Overall, we had a great dining experience and would definitely come back."

  • "I came in about ten minutes before the restaurant opened and they still greeted me very nicely and sat me right away, even though they were still seeing up for the evening. The braised rib special was delicious and I left nothing on my plate. Robert had extensive knowledge about wine, especially the local wine region, and paired my glass of wine with my meal exceptionally well. This place was a gem and I would come back over and over for the great quality food and service."

  • "We had an early Sunday dinner before a movie. The Tavern was practically empty at 5PM. The menu had something for every taste and wines by the glass were reasonable. The AT salad was over dressed but still good ( I would request lite dressing next time), and our main course Bouillabaisse was somewhat under seasoned but the fish was cooked perfectly."

  • "We have always been impressed by the freshness, quality, and creativity that Chef Ron puts into his food. And once again we were not disappointed. The best seats in the house are right next to the kitchen, where you can see Chef Ron working and talk to him about his flavors and combinations - especially wine pairings. For example, his flavorful local cod dish, which is rich with texture and flavors, is beautifully cut by a glass of local Storm Sauvignon Blanc or the smoked NY strip pops with the smokiness inherent in the J cabernet sauvignon. Lastly, AT has added outdoor dining. My wife and I may sound like we're promoting the Arlington Tavern - we are - since we both feel that AT is one of the stand-out local fare restaurants in SB. "

  • "I loved Arlington Tavern! The atmosphere was great, I loved the exposed brick and open kitchen. The waiter was very pleasant, and the other staff all seemed very nice as well. The chefs all seemed very happy, and were talking with the guests. A very enjoyable, comfortable feel. The food was so fresh and delicious. We had the caesar salad, mac & cheese, and fried chicken. It was probably the best fried chicken I've had- it was so fresh and surprisingly light for something fried, and the light sauce on top of the mashed potatoes really brightened it up. My mom and I have been talking about it for a few days now. I would definitely come back."

  • "Folks were waiting for tables at 3 adjacent restaurants yet Arlington Tavern was quite empty - that pretty much says it all. As its name implies, the pub menu is limited to about 8 main courses. They serve wine and beer only. Our waiter forgot to tell us about the specials that night. This was our first visit so we both had the AT fried chicken - it was good, but not enough to get us back."

The menu features a focused offering of outstanding dinner choices, each with amazing flavors and interesting touches. We ordered the wine pairing, which allows the patron to order three of anything on the menu - appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Each item the patron chooses is paired with an appropriate wine. The experience was fantastic and I would highly recommend AT."

  • "I have been to AT several times, and each time I go I walk out amazed at how good and unique the food was. The service is amazing and the presentation of the food (as well as the taste) cannot be better. I also love the atmosphere and the setting. The restaurant itself is really well done and interesting. I have recommended it to every friend or family member that has come to Santa Barbara. If I ever want to go out to dinner, AT is top on the list. It is my favorite restaurant in SB."

  • "It was a quiet night at the restaurant so our party of three was the only party in the room, therefore it's hard to rate the ambience & noise level. It was quiet and that was good, but probably not the usual. The best thing any of us got was the special salad, which had greens, asparagus, and was topped with a battered, deep-fried poached egg; different and tasty. My filet was not a bad cut of meat but lacked seasoning. It was extremely bland. Even the reduction sauce was flavorless. Everyone else's dishes were OK but not great. We might go back some day to give them another chance, but we won't be rushing back anytime soon."

Our only complaint was how salty the food was - the rolls, sauces, breading on the chicken, meats...everything except the dessert. All three in our party agreed. Maybe there was a substitute chef that evening? Menu was short but interesting. Prices were reasonable. Service was very friendly. They brought a complimentary dessert for the table after we remarked about the saltiness. Still, we don't expect to return."

Unfortunately the food was that sort of American comfort food that has to be perfectly executed or it is simply heavy, fatty and salty. I like this genre but it was poorly done here. Maybe it was not the head chef. The wine list was poor and the server sweet but unknowlegeable. This is a college drink hangout at best. Mayve it used to be better. If you want this kind of food in SB, go to The Lark."

  • "Funny, even though I only rated this a 3 overall I would go back there. It's got the feel of a neighborhood tavern where everyone knows everyone else. The wait staff were very accommodating but it seems they could use a few more of them as they were literally running between tables. The food was good but the menu is somewhat limited so maybe not a good spot for picky eaters. Good wine selection. Location is great if you're going to the Arlington or Granada theatres."

  • "We came before seeing David Sedaris at the Arlington. We split three appetizers- the macaroni and Gouda cheese, the French fries w Marsala gravy, And the short rib grilled cheese. We ordered 2 cokes. The Mac and cheese was incredible! The fries and Marsala gravy were delicious. The short rib grilled cheese was pretty good, just a bit cold. We also had the warm espresso cake dessert- nice touch.we will most certainly come here again! Prices are a bit high but the food is quality."

For the set-menu meal we went for, they offered wine and beer pairings which worked well, sourced from a lot of local vineyards and including some of my favorites. Some aspects of the food also highlighted local produce which was good to see - they could go further down this route. All of the dishes were well executed, with imaginative touches, like truffles in the mac 'n' cheese - which worked, though tends to make the menu on the expensive side."

  • "Went to the Arlington Tavern for Valentine's Day. Had 6pm reservations and were going to a theatre production next door to the restaurant. Thought we had plenty of time. The restaurant was offering a special Valentine's Day menu which consisted of three courses, all of the choices being from their regular menu. In the two hours we were there, we were only served two of the three courses. The kitchen was so overwhelmed and mismanaged they couldn't get out the courses without long waits in between. We had to leave before our dessert course to make our show on time. So we ended up paying full price for only 2 courses. Spoke to the manager who acknowledged the problem but made no offer of amends or a refund for our non-existent third course."
