Diner Reviews
  • "The food was outstanding. Everything fresh and beautifully prepared. The service was a bit slow but I will go back anyway."

  • "The food was incredible! I particularly loved the AT Salad and the Filet Mignon Carpaccio. I would definitely go back. The only downside was that it was loud and my father in law couldn't hear a word of our conversation. But, he enjoyed the food!"

  • "Surprisingly good food in a pub setting. Short but varied menu. Yummy onion rings!"

  • "Good food, nice ambience, service was slow and probably hindered by the amount of local events going on that eve. I may recommend management learn of local events and staff appropriately."

  • "Funny, even though I only rated this a 3 overall I would go back there. It's got the feel of a neighborhood tavern where everyone knows everyone else. The wait staff were very accommodating but it seems they could use a few more of them as they were literally running between tables. The food was good but the menu is somewhat limited so maybe not a good spot for picky eaters. Good wine selection. Location is great if you're going to the Arlington or Granada theatres."

  • "Location, location! Friendly, fun and close to theaters."

  • "We came before seeing David Sedaris at the Arlington. We split three appetizers- the macaroni and Gouda cheese, the French fries w Marsala gravy, And the short rib grilled cheese. We ordered 2 cokes. The Mac and cheese was incredible! The fries and Marsala gravy were delicious. The short rib grilled cheese was pretty good, just a bit cold. We also had the warm espresso cake dessert- nice touch.we will most certainly come here again! Prices are a bit high but the food is quality."

  • "Have been to the bar for drinks and snacks several times. This was a birthday dinner out for a friend in the main dining area. We had the prix fixe menu with wine. Wow!! The food was great and so was the service. Highly recommend!"

  • "I took my girlfriend to Arlington Tavern for Valentines Day and had a great experience and would recommend this fine establishment to anyone. The food and service far exceed the price you pay."

  • "Not sure what the title should be. This is the second time dining at the Arlington and food was very average. Not sure what else to say. Too many wonderful places to eat in Santa Barbara to try it again. Service was good."

  • "I found the service friendly and knowledgeable. For the set-menu meal we went for, they offered wine and beer pairings which worked well, sourced from a lot of local vineyards and including some of my favorites. Some aspects of the food also highlighted local produce which was good to see - they could go further down this route. All of the dishes were well executed, with imaginative touches, like truffles in the mac 'n' cheese - which worked, though tends to make the menu on the expensive side."

  • "Went to the Arlington Tavern for Valentine's Day. Had 6pm reservations and were going to a theatre production next door to the restaurant. Thought we had plenty of time. The restaurant was offering a special Valentine's Day menu which consisted of three courses, all of the choices being from their regular menu. In the two hours we were there, we were only served two of the three courses. The kitchen was so overwhelmed and mismanaged they couldn't get out the courses without long waits in between. We had to leave before our dessert course to make our show on time. So we ended up paying full price for only 2 courses. Spoke to the manager who acknowledged the problem but made no offer of amends or a refund for our non-existent third course."

  • "AT was nothing short of solid. Our table was ready for us on a busy Saturday night. Good attentive service, good food and good wine. The great company didn't hurt either. ~Bon Appetit"

  • "One of the most understated Gems in Santa Barbara when it comes to dinning, Talented chef, absolutely professional servers that make a big part of the experience. The mac and cheese finished with black truffles is just the best! and outside of New Orleans, the best fried chicken with a gourmet twist and presentation. I had to leave room for the amazing dessert to follow, an strawberry upsidedown cake quite delicious and unique. Overall among the best in Santa Barbara and not to be missed!"

  • "Reading the reviews, I thought this place would be much better than it is. It isn't too bad, but it sure isn't exceptional. A very limited menu. I had the fried chicken which was piled in a small heap on top of mashed potatoes, gravy and kale. I wish so many restaurants would stop serving their main courses in these piles. I guess they do it to disguise the meager amounts served. The plates were cold. The only bright spot was the very helpful, very nice waiter. I won't go back. There are much better restaurants in the same block."

  • "I will not be returning and I would not recommend Arlington Tavern to others. The service was very bad and the food was just okay. Based on their price point and all the other nearby very good restaurants, I recommend staying away from this place."

  • "We went to the Arlington Tavern for an anniversary dinner. The six of us enjoyed the dinner, starters and beer and wine choices. It was a great overall experience. We would have liked a desert with some chocolate and ice cream but ended up OK cause we were full."

  • "The entire experience was terrible; the hamburger was way overcooked, the French fries tasted stale, the place was cold (we had to ask the server to turn off a big fan); it was quiet because the was hardly anyone in the place. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone!"

  • "we are 70 years old and were going to a concert at the Granada. Saw your restaurant name on the Granadas site and decided to try it. We were more than pleased with everything . We sat near the kitchen but never heard any pots and pan clanging like you hear at some places. The team work was outstanding. No bells to announce an order was ready. The chef QUIETLY called out order up and any wait person in the area picked it up to deliver. It didn't matter if it was their order or not. The food was outstanding and the prices very reasonable. I recommend this place to anyone young or older."

  • "Pricey, aggressive menu, and noisy. But...great service and good ambience - two of the most important factors for dining out - that can make or break an evening. The chicken liver plate to share is very good, slighty odd in texture due to the BACON not detailed on the menu - imagine the surprise of the two Jewish members of our party! Our entrees were cooked perfectly. Seemed very pricey for being called a "Tavern.""

  • "Loved my wine, the snapper special, the freshly baked chips and the amazing pumpkin cheesecake. The team there was friendly and I really liked the design of the restaurant. It was great to see the kitchen open to everything. Both of my fellow diners also loved their experience. All of the food was so fresh- thank you!"

  • "Our party of four (with a reservation) was first in the restaurant, so we had a choice of tables. Unfortunately, a party of four does not have much choice: sit in one room next to a table set for eleven, sit next to the bar near the front door, or sit facing the kitchen. We chose the kitchen view. We ordered a bottle of riesling wine on the menu, but our server came back to tell us it was sold out. One of our group ordered the lamb shank with kale, but the kale had chlii pepper flakes on it that it made that part of the plate to inedible to eat. Two members of our group shared a fried chicken plate ($23) but the pieces of chicken were so small yet the side of buttermilk mashed potatoes they covered was even smaller, they left hungry."

  • "We brought a group of 14 and Diego created a spectacular menu and several of the guests took advantage of the wine or beer pairing. Delicious dishes started with the first bite of Mac & Cheese. It was heavenly...and so was the second, third and 15th bites. We had a very happy group. Each course there was a fight over which dish was better. And dessert only created more smiles."

  • "My boyfriend and I have been to Arlington Tavern (or AT) a few times now, and every time, we are greeted with a smile from our friendly hostess and servers and from the chefs - they are genuinely pleased that you are there to dine with them. The food is outstanding - seasonal, fresh, flavorful, but not overwhelming. On this occasion, I had the special salad (persimmon, pear, and goat cheese amazing-ness), the small filet mignon, and shared 3 different desserts with my three friends, and I felt incredibly satisfied after the meal (not too full). The filet was cooked medium rare to perfection with scrumptious potato gratin and asparagus on the side. It was a beautiful meal, reasonably priced, great company and wonderful atmosphere. Thanks AT!"

  • "Food and service are great - the short ribs are a house specialty! But the noise level makes for a less than perfect dining experience. Rugs or carpeting on the wood floors would be a big help as they would absorb much of the noise. Otherwise, it's a great neighborhood restaurant."

  • "My husband, myself and our friends had the pleasure of dining here on Saturday night. I have to say that the food was amazing. My husband ordered the strip steak off the menu and our friends and myself all had some of the specials. The short ribs were phenomenal and the beef stroganoff was to die for! Everything was a fresh and local and we were in heaven. I will definitely recommend the Arlington Tavern to everyone I know."
