Diner Reviews
  • "The food at Arlington Tavern is good, which is good enough. Our waiter was outstanding.... which is better than good. One diner's filet mignon was pronounced perfect. My mussel and clam bowl was presented with a truly burned piece of bread. The shellfish was good, the sauce good, but honestly, would you really send a piece of bread burned on the grill to a customer? One was not burned - couldn't that have come out first and then the second delivered when it was done properly? I would go back to this restaurant if I were in town again, just for the terrific waiter."

  • "You MUST order the Filet Carppacio, my favorite! Food is first class, amazing"

  • "Even though I check fit for foodies. The Arlington has a limited menu, but what they serve is very good. We started out with the tuna tartar. It was split between one one side a spicy tuna and on the other a sesame oil tuna and served with home made herbed potato chips. When the potato chips would not be my first choice they worked. They could have been a little more crispy. The tartar was fresh and very tasty. My wife had the filet mignon and loved it. Cooked to perfection. I had the smoked NY strip with a mountain of French fries. Lightly smoked flavor and cooked to perfection. Great food and service."

  • "The mac and cheese is fabulous, but I suggest getting at least 2 orders as everyone at the table will want some. The only thing that was so-so was the filet mignon. The burgers are delicious and their salmon special were great. The desserts are delicious, but really tiny, not for sharing."

  • "Terrific food, Spencer was a great waiter, nice place .. I had the New York strip, perfectly done, wife had salmon, also very good. Salads, wine, service, ambiance .. a very good place."

  • "We come to Arlington Tavern here and there for special occasions. We really enjoy the food but the service is never great. The servers seem low-energy and uninterested."

  • "Although we came in and had some specific issues, namely my son's food allergy, the staff was very accommodating and helpful. This is a big deal to us, as we really like good food and need to know what's in it. Fantastic entrees, and was impressed with the draft beer and wine selection."

  • "First time to visit the Arlington Tavern. We are from out of town. We had a wonderful waitress and the food was real good. We had the Gruyere Mac and Cheese for an appetizer and it was fabulous. The wines were very good. We had the fried chicken and the black cod for entrees, all cooked to perfection. Crème Brulee was yummy! Overall, we had a great dining experience and would definitely come back."

  • "Cannot recommend this restaurant more highly. It was a quiet evening while we were there for a small family dinner. Food was excellent, service was superb, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Great story behind this restaurant, also."

  • "The food was delicious! Farm to table style that was really tasty!"

  • "I came in about ten minutes before the restaurant opened and they still greeted me very nicely and sat me right away, even though they were still seeing up for the evening. The braised rib special was delicious and I left nothing on my plate. Robert had extensive knowledge about wine, especially the local wine region, and paired my glass of wine with my meal exceptionally well. This place was a gem and I would come back over and over for the great quality food and service."

  • "I love the Arlington Tavern. It's my favorite place to take friends and family for the first time...to get them hooked! The Mac & Cheese is the best anywhere. The burgers never disappoint and no one makes french fries better than AT does! Diego is always a gracious host and the service is always the very best!"

  • "This was our second visit to AT and we brought friends! The entire menu is great, you just can't go wrong. Service was excellent. We plan to come back on our next vacation..."

  • "Its a small intimste restaurant, that night they have a set-up menu for graduates which everything tastes excellent. They have a notable wine list and beer. I would highly recommend this place to friends and family ."

  • "Great selection of menu items. The award winning Bouillabaisse and King Salmon dishes were fabulous"

  • "food was very good but the price value wasn't there. The menu is very limited. I suspect the Happy hour menu (both food and beverage) may be where AT has the best price value and menu variety. Service was attentive although the staff was often too relaxed and visiting with "off duty" associates coming and going."
    Dined on 6/12/2014
  • "We had an early Sunday dinner before a movie. The Tavern was practically empty at 5PM. The menu had something for every taste and wines by the glass were reasonable. The AT salad was over dressed but still good ( I would request lite dressing next time), and our main course Bouillabaisse was somewhat under seasoned but the fish was cooked perfectly."

  • "Very nice spot for a quiet dinner with friends. The food will not disappoint. Attentive service as well."

  • "We have always been impressed by the freshness, quality, and creativity that Chef Ron puts into his food. And once again we were not disappointed. The best seats in the house are right next to the kitchen, where you can see Chef Ron working and talk to him about his flavors and combinations - especially wine pairings. For example, his flavorful local cod dish, which is rich with texture and flavors, is beautifully cut by a glass of local Storm Sauvignon Blanc or the smoked NY strip pops with the smokiness inherent in the J cabernet sauvignon. Lastly, AT has added outdoor dining. My wife and I may sound like we're promoting the Arlington Tavern - we are - since we both feel that AT is one of the stand-out local fare restaurants in SB. "

  • "I loved Arlington Tavern! The atmosphere was great, I loved the exposed brick and open kitchen. The waiter was very pleasant, and the other staff all seemed very nice as well. The chefs all seemed very happy, and were talking with the guests. A very enjoyable, comfortable feel. The food was so fresh and delicious. We had the caesar salad, mac & cheese, and fried chicken. It was probably the best fried chicken I've had- it was so fresh and surprisingly light for something fried, and the light sauce on top of the mashed potatoes really brightened it up. My mom and I have been talking about it for a few days now. I would definitely come back."

  • "Thank you Diego for your excellent care given to me and my group of 4 .... I think we were rather loud (a bit embarrassing for me) ... but you were super professional and took excellent care of our table ..... "

  • "Folks were waiting for tables at 3 adjacent restaurants yet Arlington Tavern was quite empty - that pretty much says it all. As its name implies, the pub menu is limited to about 8 main courses. They serve wine and beer only. Our waiter forgot to tell us about the specials that night. This was our first visit so we both had the AT fried chicken - it was good, but not enough to get us back."

  • "Arlington Tavern is a hidden gem among the many restaurant options in Santa Barbara. The menu features a focused offering of outstanding dinner choices, each with amazing flavors and interesting touches. We ordered the wine pairing, which allows the patron to order three of anything on the menu - appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Each item the patron chooses is paired with an appropriate wine. The experience was fantastic and I would highly recommend AT."

  • "Good food. Service relaxed but attentive. Tasty an interesting small plates. Like the option of the steak in "His" or "Her" size portions"

  • "I have been to AT several times, and each time I go I walk out amazed at how good and unique the food was. The service is amazing and the presentation of the food (as well as the taste) cannot be better. I also love the atmosphere and the setting. The restaurant itself is really well done and interesting. I have recommended it to every friend or family member that has come to Santa Barbara. If I ever want to go out to dinner, AT is top on the list. It is my favorite restaurant in SB."

  • "food not described correctly. chopped liver is not pate. lamb shank had flavor, but was fatty and had too much bone. foreshank not hindshank. not domestic lamb. could walk across the street or around the corner and get a better value."
    Dined on 5/8/2014
  • "The menu is extremely limited, so we wanted to order the "special" (tacos) which we were not allowed to have unless we were in the bar (??). We had an appetizer and went across the lot to Olio Pizzeria."

  • "It was a quiet night at the restaurant so our party of three was the only party in the room, therefore it's hard to rate the ambience & noise level. It was quiet and that was good, but probably not the usual. The best thing any of us got was the special salad, which had greens, asparagus, and was topped with a battered, deep-fried poached egg; different and tasty. My filet was not a bad cut of meat but lacked seasoning. It was extremely bland. Even the reduction sauce was flavorless. Everyone else's dishes were OK but not great. We might go back some day to give them another chance, but we won't be rushing back anytime soon."

  • "The food was good, though not as remarkable as a recent newspaper review had led us to believe. Our only complaint was how salty the food was - the rolls, sauces, breading on the chicken, meats...everything except the dessert. All three in our party agreed. Maybe there was a substitute chef that evening? Menu was short but interesting. Prices were reasonable. Service was very friendly. They brought a complimentary dessert for the table after we remarked about the saltiness. Still, we don't expect to return."

  • "Really good food, excellent service, nice atmosphere. What's not to like?"
    Dined on 4/26/2014
  • "Finally got around to trying AT, had heard positive things. Unfortunately the food was that sort of American comfort food that has to be perfectly executed or it is simply heavy, fatty and salty. I like this genre but it was poorly done here. Maybe it was not the head chef. The wine list was poor and the server sweet but unknowlegeable. This is a college drink hangout at best. Mayve it used to be better. If you want this kind of food in SB, go to The Lark."

  • "Foods were very good and fresh. Service very slow: more than 2 hours for a simple meal, of which at least 15min just to be able to check ..."

  • "We loved this place. The waiters were darling and so attentive and friendly, and everything we ate was so good. I absolutely loved my beet salad, and the burger was great. They have quite a variety of beer and wine, much more options than other restaurants in SB."

  • "The food was outstanding. Everything fresh and beautifully prepared. The service was a bit slow but I will go back anyway."

  • "Surprisingly good food in a pub setting. Short but varied menu. Yummy onion rings!"
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "The food was incredible! I particularly loved the AT Salad and the Filet Mignon Carpaccio. I would definitely go back. The only downside was that it was loud and my father in law couldn't hear a word of our conversation. But, he enjoyed the food!"
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "Good food, nice ambience, service was slow and probably hindered by the amount of local events going on that eve. I may recommend management learn of local events and staff appropriately."
    Dined on 4/9/2014
  • "Funny, even though I only rated this a 3 overall I would go back there. It's got the feel of a neighborhood tavern where everyone knows everyone else. The wait staff were very accommodating but it seems they could use a few more of them as they were literally running between tables. The food was good but the menu is somewhat limited so maybe not a good spot for picky eaters. Good wine selection. Location is great if you're going to the Arlington or Granada theatres."
