Diner Reviews
  • "We truly enjoyed our dining experience at the Inn. We had out of town guests and wanted them to get the feel of elegant Tucson dining. The Inn did not disappoint! We had drinks in the bar, followed by a deliciously prepared dinner in the main dining room. Food was great and service excellent! We will return"

  • "PLUS: * Good food * Good service * Nice atmosphere - quiet MINUS: * Large formal lounge area had soiled napkins, cups, saucers on most of the tables that appeared to had been there for a bit. We were in the room for over 30 minutes and they were not removed, or after 90 minutes or so after dining. * Linens on our dining table had multiple stains * Food was good, but not outstanding as it had been many many times before OVERALL: Perhaps just an off-day for the Arizona Inn, but it was disappointing to see stained table linens on dining and all of the dirty service items in the formal lounge. Not up to the usual standards at ~$28 a plate. We will return, but if it has not improved to previous standards we will not return."

  • "As this IS THE Arizona Inn that we're reviewing, we were - once again - dismayed that the wait staff seem to not have been properly trained. We're not saying that they were unfriendly, inefficient or did not do they job well enough. Instead, we've noted that they did not know how to serve properly. This is not their fault - it's the lack of attention by the restaurant management. Well enough is NOT Good Enough for The Arizona Inn."

  • "Very charming historic hotel in downtown Tucson. Great place for Sunday brunch - it's an ala carte menu (3 courses). Food is excellent and service is top notch."

  • "The Arizona Inn is a great spot for a quiet dinner or lunch. Food was GREAT as was service. This is old Tucson at its best"

  • "THE ARIZONA INN IS A BEAUTIFUL HISTORIC HOTEL WITH A MENU THAT IS BOTH CLASSIC AND NEW. THE TASTING MENU WITH WINE PARING IS NOT TO BE MISSED. STROLL THE GROUNDS AND TREAT YOURSELF, YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID."

  • "Ever since we were introduced to the Arizona Inn on Elm, we have made it our special place to celebrate. From the clean, white, table cloths, to the gigantic, fresh, flower arrangement in the center of the room, the atmosphere is plush, inviting, comfortable and beautiful. The food flavors are fabulous. There is a newness and freshness while using familiar ingredients in a unique way. We are moving away from Tucson and we will greatly miss the Arizona Inn for entertaining, birthdays, and anniversaries."

  • "Stopped there for lunch after discovering this place on Open Table. The best chicken salad I have ever had in my life and everything else looked great."

  • "Went for brunch on Father's Day, food was great. Service was not. We waited 15 minutes for water and another 10 to order. I love Arizona Inn but service needs improvement."

  • "We love the AZ inn an routinely celebrate special occasions there. You cannot beat the ambience, food (mostly), and the service is very good. Ok, here is the criticism, lose some of the rosemary and upgrade the bread. Face it, bread makes a first impression and you know what they say about those! The rosemary overpowers the bread and the hanger steak pesto. The bread offered at the beginning of the meal and used on the sandwiches was also fairly dry. Fix that and no complaints. The salads and desserts were a stand out! The wine list is thoughtful and well priced."

  • "An elegant dining room with wonderful food and prompt, attentive service. This will definitely be a special occasion restaurant for us. Not inexpensive but worth every penny."

  • "My wife has many fond childhood memories of swimming and having pool-side lunches here, in the 50's and 60's. Together, we have enjoyed a number of excellent dinners here, in 35 years of marriage. It's always fun to return to this special place. "

  • "The Arizona Inn maintains an excellent image, but I don't think the hostess staff, wait staff, or prep staff exemplify that image. I didn't find the hostesses very friendly or welcoming. That was the first disappointment. The wait staff were many and worked hard (we had a large party) but wish they would have been more attentive in bringing enough cream to table, checking to see if there were any needs. The food was very good, just not quite excellent. I do love the ambiance of the hotel and dining room. It just isn't quite excellent."

  • "Great Place for Special Occasions such as anniversary, birthday, etc."

  • "Brunch in the dining room is attentive with a nice selection of items. First course corn & cauliflower soup was not a hit, being thick & bland but others enjoyed the fresh berries & the wedge salad. Flavorful entrees, ranging from bacon omelettes to chicken Caesar salads to halibut. Dessert was a winner, with a thumbs up for the crème brulee & especially the espresso crème brulee. I'm not a fan of red velvet, as I find the cake batter usually too dry without much flavor, so while the red velvet mini donuts looked festive with their white chocolate drizzle, I thought they were overrated."

  • "Arizona Inn has been a longtime favorite of ours for years. We enjoy the atmosphere for it is relaxing, quiet and eloquent. As soon as you walk in you can feel the old school charm and class. While in the dinning room you feel like dressing up, while in the bar you feel relax and comfortable. While on the grounds you feel at home or wish home was like this. A real Gem."

  • "We have been here a number of times and were really looking forward to our evening. There were 2 wedding parties at the hotel which might explain the poor food. Bread was barely warn, corn and cauliflower soup tasteless, salmon salad OK, veggie burger cool and not tasty. My wife's daqueri just did not taste right. Sorry, we usually do not complain, but will probably not go back . The place has a great ambience, and we enjoyed that, but not the dinner.I have had good meals there. Hopefully it was a fluke ."

  • "Four of us had lunch on a Friday in the main dining room. Some of the food was very good (crème brulee, ceviche, halibut, cheese plate), but most of it was mediocre/indifferent and not worth the price (Caesar salad, Poblano chili, red velvet doughnut, Tequila Sunrise, side dishes for the halibut, shrimp & quinoa pasta dish). We had drinks, appetizers, main course and dessert, and dropped more than $200 -- but other than the special occasion, the meal itself was not memorable. Our main server was eager to please, but a bit tentative (she appeared to be new, and didn't know details of some of the menu items). "

  • "The best thing turned out to be the tiny grilled scallop on a bed of corn salsa served as the chef's "treat"; the spinach/kale salad was also fine, but the Chef Salad was gummed up with cherry tomatoes and too many croutons. The BLT appetizer was too sweet, though the biscuits were fine. My main course of salmon was oddly served on a wide pasta, and broccoli seriously undercooked ; the duck breast was fine but the "forbidden rice" overwhelmed it; and the beef tenderloin was good but not outstanding. Of the desserts, the sampler was best. The so-called blueberry cheesecake was pretty, but more of a mousse, with a great pistachio crust. Service attentive, traditional ambiance, lovely grounds to wander and good art to look at."

  • "We had dinner at the Arizona Inn on the outside patio. The service was really not that great. We took appetizers and an entree and they brought the entrees when we were not even finished with the appetizer, I had to ask the server not to take away my appetizer plate while my mouth was still full... The food was very mediocre. And also, we were sitting close to a bush and there was a small rat in the bush... not the greatest experience, especially for the price. "

  • "Beautiful setting with music from piano player in the bar. It is downhill from there. Duck, pork tenderloin and halibut inedible. Dry and over cooked. Honestly, I'm not certain that I could have identified the protein that I was served as duck. The restaurant only modestly busy. I had to track down our waiter to get our check. Then the waiter had to ask where we were sitting. As our plates were finally cleared no one seemed curious that our food was largely uneaten. Everything was so disappointing that sending it back seemed like a waste of time. I could say more, but I trust that you get the message."

  • "We had Lunch at Arizona Inn recently when I was on vacation in Arizona. The decor and historical atmosphere of the restaurant and Inn was very nice, as we're the gardens outside. My cousins had salads; I had a chicken sandwich with potato salad, followed by a delicious chocolate mousse dessert. Service was also very good. The dinner entrees looked interesting also- would like to try them on another visit."

  • "The Arizona Inn is well worth a visit for its historical ambiance and gardens but, sad to say, not its dining experience. The fixed price brunch was way overpriced even by my jaded California standards, and featured bland champagne followed by blander food and accompanied by clumsy service. "

  • "We enjoyed the chef's tasting menu paired with their wine selections. The food was excellent as was our service. We will return on our next visit to Tucson."

  • "Az Inn is our Go To place for many things, being an Oasis in the otherwise desert Az climate and country side. The service is special the gardens colourful and manicured and the ambience old world but charming and inviting. The best part is the food and beverage quality and selection is top notch, so you never mind paying a premium for these memorable occasions."

  • "We arrived about 1/2 hour early so we could walk around the grounds, as recommended in some other reviews and they were absolutely right - perhaps we could have made even more time for that. It was Easter Sunday, so we did not get a chance to visit the workshop. Champagne came with our dinners, so we did not order from the wine list which was quite extensive and interesting. The dinners were very nicely presented and very enjoyable. Service was prompt and the staff were highly attentive. The decor was elegant with some beautiful furniture, which I understand was probably made on-site. We had a great time and will definitely return in our next visit to Tucson. "

  • "Arizona Inn has been one of our favorites for the past 30+ years. The drinks and food are always excellent, the service is outstanding, and it retains its "old world" elegance. Visitors to Tucson should not miss this dining experience. "

  • "Easy parking in their lot, charming dining room, attentive friendly staff, excellent food, meal worth the price. Plus if you stay at the Inn left overs go into your frig for a later snack."

  • "Top notch service & the live piano was lovely. Had to wait for outdoor seating (outdoor tables oddly cannot be reserved) but preferred because the dining room smelled musty. Once outside, though, hotel guests were coming & going along the outdoor walkways in front of our table. Many diners were hotel guests (one actually sitting in her gym clothes, working on her laptop, eating amidst us) which added to this place feeling more like a hotel restaurant than a fine dining establishment. Additionally, the crowd is not vibrant and tends to be on the retirement age side, and while the food was good, it came out really quickly (making me wonder about the freshness). For the price I'd rather go somewhere where the entire experience speaks to me."

  • "The service was impeccable, but alas, the food was so-so. The escargot was really bad...the sauce was too heavy, the pound cake that was serve with it was tasty in itself but with escargot? Would have preferred a very light garlic olive oil sauce on them. It was my birthday dinner, hugely disappointed. Won't be back real soon."
