Diner Reviews
  • "We were looking for a fairly quiet restaurant in which we could carry on a business conversation among five people including our client from out of state. The noise level was good (on a weeknight), the waitstaff was efficient and unobtrusive when appropriate and the food was excellent. It was a nice diversion from some of the other public venues we used during the week."

  • "I travel around the country running my businesses. In each town, I seek out Greek places to eat as it is my favorite food. Aristos is now in top 3 of my list that includes over 50 stops in USA, Canada, Panama and Costa Rica. Great menu including Greek street food all the way to some really interesting lamb dishes. Intense flavor, professional service in a nice atmosphere. If you have a chance to go here ---- please do so...."

  • "We were seated almost as soon as we got there. Had an out of town guest. We were not given menu's, we were not given water or any acknowlegment that we were even there for 25 minutes. Our guest finally got up and was able to find two menu's for the five of us. Still no waitress, there were plenty of open tables. We finally decided to get up and go to the resturant next store,. Saved the evening.Aristo's came as a recomend from a good friend, don't think we will take anymore."

  • "I've been to Aristo's a few times and I wanted to take my food savvy sister and brother in law there to celebrate his birthday. They loved the food. Authentic Greek food. I've never liked lamb til eating here. It's so tender and the octopus is to die for we had to get another one. Great service, great people, great food!"

  • "Aritso's serves delicious and authentic Greek cuisine. Close to the University of Utah, makes a nice option to catch dinner before theater performances at either Pioneer Memorial Theater or Kingsbury Hall."

  • "My night out with my wife at Aristo's was excellent. The restaurants interior has transformed into something a bit more modern and classy. Changes on the new menu: what use to be what I felt to be a bit incoherent & confusing is now easy to follow with ample selections. The portions are a bit smaller, but so are the prices; giving the opportunity to get a really great spread of items. We really enjoyed our night and can't wait to come back to try some new stuff! Thank you"

  • "I have been dining at Aristos for many years. It has become one of our favorite places to go. Recently they changed their decor, and their menu. They no longer serve the shrimp dish I love so much. So I ordered Mousakka instead and it was a super small serving, seemed like half of what was usually served. My date even commented on how tiny my dinner was. Also, their lunch menu has changed as well and some of my favorite dishes are no longer available during lunch hours. It seems as though the portions are smaller, but prices are the same, and dishes that were loved are no longer available. It's a shame. The food is still delicious, and the service has always been hit and miss... either great, or mediocre. Why change a good thing?"

  • "Have been going to Aristo's for a few years now and have never been disappointed. For our last visit I made a reservation for four and indicated that there would be a woman in a wheel chair. Our reservation was confirmed by e-mail but to our surprise, when we arrived, there was no handicap entrance. Food was still good as ever, however."

  • "The food is delicious as always. But the layout has people seated right next to other tables and other diners. It was impossible to conduct a private conversation, and we felt cramped the entire time we were there. normally I prefer to sit outdoors where there is a bit more space, but during cooler weather that was not an option. The small plates are just wonderful, but a bit expensive. For example the server asked if I would like a side salad, which I ordered. It was a small salad, but was $8. Overall a wonderful place to try something different."

  • "The recent menu change is disappointing. Some of my personal favorites are now missing (their excellent gyro for one). The noise levels in some parts of the restaurant are problematic. The food is still excellent as always."

  • "Aristo's gave us the WORST dining experience in memory. Upon arriving at 6:20 PM, I informed the waiter that we were going to the theater for an 8:00 PM show, so we needed to leave by 7:50 PM. We literally sat at the table for an hour without anything to eat until I told the nice but clueless waiter to serve anything that was ready. One person of four received their order. Then, the other three sat there for another 20 minutes without food. At that point, we paid the bill and left. Never to return."

  • "The food is good and the service only fair, especially when the restaurant is busy. Prices are reasonable. The location, a block from campus is very convenient and diners can park once adjacent to the restaurant and then walk to campus. We had a show at Pioneer theater. We recommend Aristo's."

  • "My wife and I had a wonderful experience at Aristo's. We showed up for our Valentines Day dinner but the hostess couldn't find our reservation, made through Open Table. No problem, the owner came out and they still seated us immediately and he was very apologetic. The waiter gave us great service from beginning to end and told us which dishes were his favorites. We had the grilled octopus which was marvelous and a really delectable shrimp dish as entrees. That was followed by one of the best Greek salads with yummy pita bread we had ever had. The rack of lamb for dinner was superbly cooked to succulent perfection. Dessert was divine and I would order the Gelaktoboureko again, it was great . Thank you for a wonderful dining experience."

  • "What a great find! Took a group of seven women to dinner here - we were looking for something different for a birthday celebration. We can't wait to go back! We all tried something different and shared with each other. There are so many options on the menu that we can't wait to try some others! A couple walked in as we were leaving and wanted to check the menu - I told them just to stay - they wouldn't be disappointed!"

  • "My wife and I went to Aristo's based on the positive reviews we read. The restaurant did not live up to our expectations. The service was good as we were quickly seated, and the food came out right way. The tzatziki was also very good. Unfortunately that was about it for the positives. My wife had chicken souvlaki and the chicken was overdone (dry and very tough). As a side she had the greek potatoes, but they were flavorless. I had shrimp skewers, and although not as bad as my wife's meal, they too lacked flavor. We were hoping for more, but sadly will be crossing this restaurant off our list of places to dine."

  • "We tried this restaurant because it had a 4 star rating on OpenTable, and when we arrived, they had many awards for Best Greek food, so we were excited to give it a try. I don't know how others could have rated the food so highly unless something was seriously wrong the night we dined there. The Saganaki appetizer was soggy, the pita bread that came with it and also the salad was was undercooked and doughy. The salad had mealy tomatoes and brown spotted lettuce. The chicken entree was overcooked and dried out. The kabobs were burned to a crisp and looked like charcoal briquettes. The service was good but the food was not. Normally I would try again, but it was so bad I won't be back."

  • "My girlfriend is from Greece and when we first sat down she immediately noticed that the brand of salt on the table was what she used in Greece. The food here is very authentic and the small plates are very very good. Try the Santorini shrimp and the Partition!"

  • "This place should be better than it is. With a captive audience of university people and nearby event venues, there is no excuse for the sterile ambiance, loud interior noise, and mediocre service. With prices like $10 for an appetizer, this is not a student hangout but a place for adults who expect more. There is not a single decoration on the wall or in the space and the gray wall just looked darker and dingier as the later afternoon became evening. All those blank walls made for a great deal of echo so that conversation quickly because strained. The food is the highlight and almost saved the evening. Nice selection, reasonable number of vegetarian options, although the signature item--the Greek salad--was only adequate."

  • "Outstanding Greek Food and a nice selection of Greek wines. The waiter was knowledgeable about Greek wines and provided outstanding service without hovering. Aristo, the owner, was quite welcoming. My biggest regret is that we don't go to Aristo's often enough."

  • "My wife and I had dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We had Aristo's recommended by coworkers @ the VA Hospital. The entire experience was very nice. The staff was friendly and very receptive to any needs we had. We didn't have to ask for anything, they were there offering essentials prior to our needing them. The food was excellant and the prices were very reasonable. It is a place we will frequent in the comming year. A big thanks to the staff and management for the nice celebration of our marriage."

  • "Excellent choice for dinner in the neighborhood adjacent to the University of Utah. In a market saturated with very good Greek fast food this stands out as a means to explore the finer dining options. From appetizers to entrees the selection offers choices you won't find anywhere else in Salt Lake. All are expertly prepared with a staff the can explain the options to newcomers to Greek cuisine."

  • "Authentic homestyle Greek food with a great variety to choose from. Being a Greek restaurant, their specialty is lamb, but I am a vegetarian and there were plenty of choices for me as well. Their trio of dips to start off with will put you in the mood for the rest of the meal! Yummy, quality food in a good setting and live Greek music on Thursday nights. This was the perfect setting for dinner before a show at Kingsbury Hall."
