Diner Reviews
  • "We had a fantastic meal at Aria the other night. The lamb shank and wild duck breast were amazing! The classic rustic Italian food here is really worth the trip!"

  • "This was a good restaurant with a variety of great food. The portions were not large on some of the dishes but the quality was very high on everything that we had on the table."

  • "My husband and I have dined at Aria a few times and every time we do the food has been amazing. Our waitress could barely hear us which was a problem making me have to practically yell my order at her. Lasagna was stellar as was the pizza Bianca."

  • "The good was delicious and the atmosphere was fantastic! They even had live music and their entire menu was available for Queens Feast! Definitely will go here again!"

  • "Took advantage of Restaurant Week offer. 3 courses & all three were great! Food was delicious, service was good, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was mid-to-upscale. Very enjoyable!"

  • "Great experience at Aria. Too notch food and service."

  • "This was my third time coming to Aria and I love it more and more each time I come. The atmosphere is everything. All of my guests had the best time and raved on how wonderful the restaurant was. The staff was extremely accommodating of my large party even though it was restaurant week. Aria is in my top five list of best restaurants in Charlotte. Kudos to the chef and the entire team for making my birthday dinner special :)"

  • "Food is good, decorated nicely, kind of small; you and your neighbors will share a conversation, unless you're in a group"

  • "Taking advantage of Queen's Feast, we uncovered a great restaurant in Aria Tuscan Grill. There was excellent choice, and the service was quite attentive. I would definitely return, particularly if they had lunch, which I think they do!"

  • "It was evident that Aris didn't concentrate a whole lot on seasoning, but on concentrated a deal on sauce work. I understand foods costs & plate presentation, but it wouldn't hurt for the plated to be sauced a little more. The foods and the sauce last amazing together, but I feel to maintain consistency without the plate& for ultimate satisfaction; SAUCE IS NEEDED!"

  • "I went to Aria with some friends for Queens Feast and it very good! I liked and chose this restaurant for Queens Feast specifically because they offered a lot of items on their prix fix menu, unlike some other restaurants in the city. I gave Aria a "very good" rather than "excellent" merely because nothing we ordered was outstanding still talking about it the next day level great. However, nothing anyone ordered was less than "very good" either. I really liked the atmosphere in here though, it's elegant yet relaxed - It almost feels like one big dinner party!"

  • "We didn't even realize it and we snuck in a reservation for restaurant week! This was a BIG treat because we got to try 3 courses for only $30 and they have their FULL MENU! Everything was so delicious, we had a great time, a great server, and an all around great experience!"

  • "The initial entry into the restaurant was thru the B of A atrium which forced us to go down the stairs to the Greeting Station that is servied, not by the 200 S Tryon address but a side street address, which would have been beneficial. We then turned around and had to go back up stairs to our table. Beyond that the food was very good and the service was good."

  • "First-time visit. Glad to have been seated upstairs. Lower level was very noisy with most tables spaced closely together. Not enough aisle space upstairs between tables either. Servers and other patrons kept bumping my chair through no fault of their own. On the positive side the food itself was quite good. Mussels with fennel and garlic and lamb shank were both excellent. My wife's gnocchi and trout were, according to her, delicious as well."

  • "I came her during restaurant week. What a great choice I made Love it!!"

  • "The food was just okay. I expected at least one thing to be be a WOW this is really good, but no. Scallops were good but the vegetable had a very strong vinegar taste. The salmon was bland. I only ate a few bites. The service was very good. They were really busy the night we were there."

  • "the food is great, the service is great, the only complaint was poor lighting, and the menu print was so small had to use a 10x magnifier to see it..."

  • "It was ok. Simple Italian . Food could have been more authentic."

  • "We were visiting from out of town during restaurant week; saw Aria's website and made a reservation. We had trouble finding it and parking, but once inside, it was worth the hassle! Very pleasant staff, great corner table and the food surpassesd our expectations. (We're from Charleston, SC and know good restaurants). We had mussel appetizers that were outstanding. I had the scallop entree, which was very good, but my date's entree, the lamb shank was the best, a wonderful melody of flavors and incredibly tender. Overall a great dining experience."

  • "We had a wonderful time, went to the bar first, met Jeff and had some really great drinks, Sidecar was yummy, then our dinner was so good, service was great, we had such a good time, will be back for sure.."

  • "What a fantastic menu! There's a little something for everyone at Aria Tuscan Grill. I highly recommend the gnocchi appetizer; talk about a taste explosion. Dishes are beautifuly presented and portion sizes appropriate to allow for full enjoyment of the menu."

  • "Both my wife and I had the Pork Arrosto. We would never serve such a fatty, tasteless cut of meat to anyone. The only good thing about it was the sauce. My wife's Shaved Kale Salad was excellent, but my Caprese Salad was forgetable as I could taste neither the tomatoes or Mozzarella. Don't bother coming here if you want to have a close conversation as tables are on top of each other and the noise level it quite loud ( they would do well to install something to baffle the reverberating noise level). When making our reservations, I added a note that this was a special occasion, and we were celebrating my wife's birthday. I had to remind the waiter as the note was not passed to him. Alas, he still forgot."

  • "Many people appreciate a good glass of wine with dinner. I detest the awful glasses in which Aria serves their wine. Why can't they afford nice wine glasses?"

  • "Very knowledgeable staff. It was great for a date night for my wife and I. Portions were perfect. The duck was outstanding. From the discussion with our server, the chef seemed to care and take the time to experiment to offer unique dishes. And the tiramisu was out of this world."

  • "For a Saturday evening, Aria was not very busy- less than half full. However, we were seated directly between two other large parties even though there were many other two-tops available. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was hit or miss- the gnocchi appetizer was great but the pasta dishes were bland; the pasta obviously came from a box rather than house-made and the sauces were unappealing all around."

  • "Took a group of ten for a work dinner and was treated wonderfully. Everyone left impressed."

  • "We had a fantastic evening at Aria for my twins 14th birthday. Our party of 12 was seated at a long table in front of the street window. The ambience is very chic here and the decor and lighting are perfect. What I like is the variety in the dishes. You can get a reasonable priced pasta dish either traditional (lasagna/spagetti and meatballs or unique (bucatini with clams) or you can spend more on a fish/steak dish. The appetizers are wonderful and large enough to share. We had the mussels, calamari and I am still thinking about the gnocchi with truffle oil... Fabulous spot in uptown Charlotte. GO!"

  • "Dylan and I attend Heroes Convention every year in Charlotte. Dylan enjoys the convention while I look forward to dinner at Aria, a really excellent Italian (Tuscan Italian) restaurant in the heart of downtown. The folks that run the place are very accommodating and our servers have always been top shelf (this time was not exception. Try the calamari!"

  • "Living in NY the majority of my life, I'm a bit skeptical of going out and eating Italian. This place hit the mark. I will be going back for sure."

  • "We had an eclectic group of six on this visit to Aria; one chef, one gluten-free diner, two big spenders, an octogenarian and an "I'm just glad to be out to dinner" person. I can honestly say that everyone was totally pleased with our dining experience. Everyone ordered a different dish and they were all wonderful. The service was efficient but not rushed and the quantity of food for each item was appropriate. This just reconfirmed why Aria is one of our top two restaurant choices in Charlotte!"

  • "Couldn't even hear the aucoustic guitar player by the door. Didn't know he was there until we were leaving. Good meal but couldn't enjoy each other which ruined the experience."

  • "The décor of the restaurant was nice & I enjoyed the live music in the bar area. Everything on the menu sounded so good; I actually ordered 3 small dishes so I could try various items. I started w/ the gnocchi appetizer, enough to be a meal. The pasta was delicate & perfectly cooked & the sauce hit the spot. I then had kale salad w/ hazelnut dressing. This too was very large & tasty. It could have had a few extra accompaniments but overall it still tasted good & was big enough to share. I finished w/mushroom pizza. I was only able to eat 1/3 of it since the other 2 dishes were much larger than expected but what I did eat was divine. There was a perfect balance of cheese & oil/garlic. I highly recommend Aria for great homemade Italian food."

  • "Had a great before-theatre dining experience Friday night at Aria. Our server was wonderful and made great suggestions. Standouts were the kale salad (no kidding, it is delicious!!) and my husband's lasagna was exceptional. We were out well in time to get our theatre seats with no stress. We've been here before and will be back again!"

  • "First date and she had allergy to dairy. . Food had cheese and we sent back. I got the duck and it was chewy. Overall for 75 bucks not worth it"

  • "Food was a bit too salty. And why not serve wine in a stem glass?"

  • "My wife and I went to Aria for our anniversary dinner. The ambiance was very nice. The lighting was dim, a good view of the evening charlotte streets, an open kitchen to watch food be prepared. It was a bit noisy for a specifically romantic night but that didn't bother us. The service was excellent, checking in at just the right time without being overly intruding. But what remains in our mind the most is the food. Caramelized gnocchi is a must for an app. My roasted duck was outstanding and so was my wife's swordfish finished with an excellent tiramisu. Even though we were there on a Tuesday, the place was full; even more representing the fact that you won't be dissappointed at Aria Tuscan Grill."

  • "Yes, the food is good but I'm always blown away by the extensive wine selection and the phenomenally attentive wait staff here. The bar scene isn't too bad either."
