  • "The food at Argyle is fantastic, one of the best steaks i have eaten in a long time and the popovers are the best!!!"

  • "Argyle is a very nice restaurant in a lovely hotel. It is conveniently located not far from the 5 freeway with a pleasant view of a lagoon. Wait staff and hostess were friendly and prompt."

  • "We came to celebrate our 32 Anniversary and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. However, the ambiance was lacking to say the least, for a place that you would spend 200.00 plus for dinner the fact that kids run freely and are loud was disturbing to us. We made the best of it and could have arranged a later dining time, but who wants to eat a 3 course or ore meal at 9:00 p.m.? Not me. I want to dine in a nice quiet, romantic atmosphere and continue the night elsewhere with dancing or whatever..... So, if you want peace and romance I don't recommend the loud boisterous atmosphere we experienced here. The wagyu steaks were exceptional and the raw oyster appetizer was a delight."

  • "Very expensive for virtually tough and tasteless steak, can do much better going to COSTCO and cooking on the BBQ. Premium beef my ___!!!"

  • "This was my wife's birthday, and I ordered flowers thru the link shown. Thse were on the table when we were seated, and looked gorgeous even ththough we were very early for our reservation. Great steaks, including smaller portions (5oz) for smaller appetites. Knowledgeable, attentive and friendly service. Wine list very acceptable, from novice to connosseur. And everyone we dealt with smiled, a great quality indeed, may times forgotten in so many places. Overall an excellent experieince."

  • "Great steaks,...Just what you would expect from a traditional steak house! Forget the chains,..This works!"

  • "Every steak sounds so good. We went with the waygu and loved it. The spinach salad with goat cheese and sizzling pork belly was unreal. The service was EXCELLENT. Made us look so good in front of our guests. Enjoy "

  • "Made reservations through Open Table. Very easy to do. Ordered flowers to be delivered to the restaurant. Arrive a few minutes before our reservation and everything was set up. The menu was outstanding. The restaurant staff was professional and attentive. The ambiance was perfect. Celebrated or anniversary in style. Pricey but worth it for that special occasion. "

  • "For a 5 Diamond resort to have such poor quality service and food was really a shocker. Food was bland, not really much flavor in the appetizers or side dishes Waiter did not do a good job to describe the menu to us. My sister was allergic to any form of walnut products. We were assured by the waiter that "there was nothing on the menu that had walnut products". After checking with the kitchen, the waiter said that the salad and chocolate desserts "might have walnuts". The silverware was worn, (lots of scratches). Not a pleasant experience for a $$$$ gourmet steakhouse."

  • "This is a great restaurant that's part of the park HYATT AVIARA although it's not in the hotel building. It's actually down the hill near the golf club the reason this is great is because it offers beautiful views of the lagoon and golf course. I recommend a table outside if it's warm enough. Service Was on par, as usual, as we had two men attending to us. They offer a great prix fix menu that's a great deal - for 2 people, you each get to choose a soup or salad, then you share an entree that consists of several different meats (we had short ribs, sirloin and fish) and then two vegetable choices. Then you get a dessert to split. I'd recommend the wine pairing that goes with it because they offer great wines and port to try with your meal. "

  • "Like all the restaurants at the Park Hyatt Aviara the Argyle has the best servers in the San Diego area. Alex was super. There wasn't anything he did do or suggest. What a wonderful experience. Thank you all the staff who made such a nice evening for us."

  • "Great special occasion restaurant with steak options from various producers/ techniques so you do your own comparisions of Waygu vs. local ranch suppliers as well as Bison."

  • "Loved the spinach salad with homemade bacon. Ribeye steak was perfect. Large enough to share. Enjoyed the bone marrow crust. Ordered three sides, asparagus, lobster Mac and cheese and creamed spinach. All were good. "

  • "I had heard that the food was amazing! And yes it was!! But the atmosphere could use some updating. It more of a hotel feel than a great steak house feel. When we arrived we (5 moms out for a girls night) were seated next to a table with high chairs and a mess that you wouldn't believe. I know that's not the restaurants fault but I feel they should have sat us somewhere else. It was kind of disappointing because the meal was not cheap. But oh the food!!!!! Everything was fantastic!!"

  • "I was visiting from out of town and wanted to treat my friend to a special dinner. I found Argyle online and chose by the photos and the menu. It exceeded our expectations! The service was impeccable and friendly. We were only there two nights ago but thinking of going back today for lunch."

  • "A colleague and I wanted a steak dinner. My research led me to Argyle and I'm really glad it did. My hanger steak with Cajun spice rub was perfect. And whoever thought of the bacon jam on toast deserves the decadence award of 2014. The staff was outstanding. Like most steak restaurants, it will be $100 a person if you order a glass of wine, appetizer, main and a side per person. The ambience was fantastic to boot. "

  • "We had an Easter lunch. My wife's holandaise was not so great not fresh. The Crab sandwiches were wonderful but my lamb special was terrible cold inedible and just a sliced lamb sausage?. I informed the wait person who did the right thing. The deserts were great but not very large. We might return but not for an event meal. Just not as great as I remembered. Maybe just a busy day."

  • "Finally, we were able to find a steakhouse that wasn't the usual Ruth"s Chris, Cowboy Star, Flemmings, etc. We wanted to try something different. After doing a search online and finding this place, we decided to give it a try because it offers Wagyu beef. My wife and I ordered a couple of ounces of the Wagyu beef to try. Yes, I said ounces. They well it by the ounce and we also ordered their bone-in ribeye as well. We ate the Wagyu beef first and immediately ate some of the bone-in ribeye to get an immediate and direct comparison to see if there really is a difference. Wow is what both my wife and I said. The Wagyu beef really is that good. Do yourself a favor and give it a try if you've never had it before. You won't go wrong."

  • "Every time we return to Argyle, we are once again impressed with the quality of the wait staff, the ambiance and the very high quality of the food. Every dish is beautifully prepared and served and the steaks are among the best anywhere. As good as the many steakhouses in San Diego are, Argyle takes it to a whole other level. Add a very good wine list and service that is attentive but not intrusive and you have a first rate dining experience."

  • "I live in Carlsbad and am always looking for a hidden gem to take my wife to. We had a night away from the kids and were staying at the Aviara Hotel. I booked this restaurant based on the price and the fact that is was located at such a nice hotel. We arrived and noticed that we were sitting in a banquet style room, no table cloth, no ambiance what so ever. The food was "good" but WAY overpriced. I wish I would have read a review or two before so that I could have stayed away. The food was not terrible but for $200 it was VERY disappointing. If it had been $100 I would have been disappointed. We really felt like we were sitting in wedding reception instead of a steak house."

  • "Another fabulous dining experience! We loved the special menu in honor of the LPGA. The strawberry gazpacho was delicious. Definitely my go to restaurant in Carlsbad"

  • "We were pleased with the setting, and our waiter was excellent, which more than made up the fact that we had to ask for napkins, bread, and a knife. We had looked up the lunch menu and had decided what we wanted, only to find that the menu on-line must represent week-day fare. The Sunday lunch menu was a bit ...strange. My husband had an egg-white "frittata", which consisted of egg white fried into a flat disk with Brussels Sprouts on top, with a few dabs of cheese. As my husband is from Rome, this did not meet his expectations of a frittata. My chicken enchiladas were light and just enough - I was very glad I had chosen to forego my choice of two eggs on top of the enchiladas, as the dish is normally served. That seemed a bit odd as well"

  • "Took my mom there for her birthday, and it was great. I've had steaks there before and there awesome! I decided to try their house burger this time. It was cooked perfectly to order and tasted amazing. We sat at the bar, and was so glad we did. The bartender Susy was great. Really knew her wines, had a great personality and overall just fun to talk to. My mom really loved her birthday dinner there. We will definitely be back."

  • "have only eaten here once on a business trip. I felt it was a pleasant, comfortable restaurant in an upscale, golf course setting. The service was friendly which we enjoyed. The food was good, not great, but also fairly priced. If I lived close by I would be a regular."

  • "I had a great experience at Argyle Steakhouse, and it exceeded my expectations in every way. Service was perfect—not over the top, but we felt well cared for by the entire staff. Food was magnificent—best meal out I've had in a very long time. Hold on to that chef, Argyle, he/she is a real gem. The ambiance was nice, and about what you'd expect at a country club. All in all, I can't wait to return and explore more of the menu. I was surprised that there was only one grass-fed beef option on the menu (this is the primary reason I chose this restaurant), but the cut I had was tender, tasty, and cooked perfectly. Thanks also for having a gluten-free menu!"

  • "The purpose of my dining experience at Argyle was in celebration of my best friend's birthday. She flew in from the freezing cold Philadelphia so deciding to eat outdoors in the beautiful San Diego sun was a gift in itself for her. A total of 6 of us were present for this celebration and it was the first time for all of us to eat at this restaurant. We all ordered something different on the menu and each individual loved their brunch. We all shared the Wagyu hotdog (as an appetizer) as well as all of the dessert selections. The food was amazing, the scenery was beautiful and it was just an excellent dining experience. The only bad part of the experience was that the service was poor. It appeared that our server forgot about us."

  • "This place is a top 5 steakhouse is all do San Diego. True Japanese Wagyu (A5) meat. It's like eating high level Toro sashimi. It's pricey, but well worth it. Good eating!!! They make great cocktails also!"

  • "The selection on the menu was very nice for a steakhouse. I had the grass fed tenderloin it was very tender and flavorful. I thought it was nice that they had healthy selections on the kids menu that were also delicious. My daughter had the salmon and loved it. The service was attentive but not intrusive. I would recommend this restaurant."
