Diner Reviews
  • "I miss the old Argia's where food was a bit pricey but quality was outstanding and portions were generous. Used to be able to share a solo sized salad, and for $10 that made sense. Salads are still as pricey but portions are less than half of what they used to be. The value just isn't there anymore even with the groupon. I feel mixed about returning."

  • "I am gluten free and I miss Italian food. Argia's makes a gluten free pasta and it's really good. They also have a really pretty outdoor seating area that is cozy and relaxing. It's a nice little place"

  • "Open table listed Argia as a good Italian restaurant with outside dining -- just what you want on a summer's night, right? What they didn't mention was the view from the outdoor dining area is the parking lot and trash bins. The good news is that all the pasta is home made but the two dishes we ordered were disappointing -- the "specialty" that evening was a plate of chunky, dry salmon, sliced cherry tomatoes thrown in with fettuccini with very little sauce. I had to use the seasoned olive oil to add moisture to the dish. The homemade bread is a stand out as was the chocolate mousse dessert. Also a standout, the very friendly staff and owners who make you wish the food was a standout as well."

  • "I have visited Argia's many times over the last few years. This was the first visit where I was truly disappointed with the visit. The food has absolutely no taste (not crazy about the menu change at all). I ordered the chicken parm and I think it tasted like it came out of a frozen food box. The waiter seemed new and hadn't quite finissed his skills yet. When asked about the specials, he wasn't sure what some of the ingredients were or how to say them. He asked us if we wanted to read the sheet instead. Will go back based on previous experiences, but I hope it isn't a repeat from this last visit."

  • "Argia's is alonside the State Theater in Falls Church and a great location for before or after the show. It was an excellent location for our family to meet with friends for a nice early dinner. The others liked their veal, but I found my spinach linguine to be plain; not many flavors. Also they offer a Tuscaln bean salad, with comes in a cute little round shape, but really didn't have a lot of flavor either. The wine was excellent; a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet. And, curiously, although Open Table showed that there were no tables available from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, the restaurant was, in fact, almost empty."

  • "This place was very nice, decor was great, I really liked the painting on the wall of the country life in Italy. Now our waiter was kind, but he forgot about us so the manager had to take our order. Other then that the food was great. I would come again"

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Argia's. The weather was great, so we decided to eat outside in the lovely patio area. The food was very good as well as the service. We'll definitely go back! "

  • "Made reservations for a party of 10 at 6 on Sunday. Drinks came out very slow. My entree was incorrect and had to wait 0 minutes for the correct order while the rest of the table ate. Ordered cappuccino with dessert. Dessert came out quickly but the cappuccino took another 15 minutes. Asked the server and he said he was the only one who could operate the machine. Finally, we were over-charged for several bottles of wine. Overall, service was spotty and the food was average."

  • "We had read reviews about the restaurant's ambiance rather there was lots of noise and Frank Sinatra crooning very loudly from the bar area in the other room. There was not anything like that at this restaurant. The mussels were excellent but the pizza had no taste and the crust was dry and bland. "

  • "Staff was friendly. Food was way to expensive with too small portions for what you paid. Collard greens extremely bitter. Otherwise food was o.k."

  • "Enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day dinner at Argia. Every dish was excellent. The ossu buco was especially fine."

  • "The food and service were good; however, the angel hair pasta was overcooked."

  • "My wife and I ate at Argias last Saturday. As always, the food, service and overall experience were great. The mussels were wonderful. The pizza was very good. My only disappointment was that the Italian Shrimp and Grits were removed from the Summer menu. Menus do change with seasons. I get it. Too bad in this specific case; see you again in the Fall."

  • "We returned to Argia's recently, hadn't been there since the change in ownership. We were very pleased with our experience. We were welcomed warmly and given a nice window table. Our waiter, Colin, was excellent, offering us suggestions, explaining the entrees where we had some questions, and providing a friendly and warm evening. The restaurant's cordial manager watches over the room, and she stopped to by introduce herself and ask how our evening was going. Everything we had was delicious from the Bruschetta to the Scampi to the pasta and the Cappuccinos. Wine prices are reasonable, too. If you haven't been here before or it has been a while, it's definitely worth a visit to this wonderful restaurant right in downtown Falls Church. "

  • "We tried Argia's and found their pasta delicious. It lives up to the "home-made" label. The bread was crusty and warm! Great place to meet someone for lunch."

  • "I met a friend there for lunch and we had good service and good food. It was a snowy day so it was a very quiet day. I would definitely go back. Great selection of food!"

  • "We ordered the cornmeal crusted calamari with the spicy tomato sauce, which was delicicious. For entrees, we had the chicken Parmesan and the beef tenderloin and lobster special. The chicken was great, but the pasta sauce was not as good as we thought an Italian restaurants would be. The tenderloin was decent, but the lobster was cooked unevenly making some parts mushy and other parts tough. My husbands favorite part of his dish was the scalloped potatoes. Service was good!"

  • "I took my husband here (first time visit for both of us) as an adventurous surprise...and we were both pleasantly surprised. We had a lovely meal...one of the Valentine Day specials...and a great waiter, Javier! We would definitely go again to explore more of the appealing menu!"

  • "Went to Argia's for the first time after hearing many recommendations. The decor was not what I expected - I expected more cozy and romantic; it was much bigger but that was ok. It seemed great for groups, as there were several. Our server was excellent - a high-school age individual but she did an excellent job and was really very nice. The food was excellent - the salad was fresh and featured simple good ingredients - definitely big enough to share if you want to also get a different salad or app to share so you can try more things. The chicken parm was one of the best either of us ever tasted and the gnocchi was very good."

  • "I love so many things about Argia's -- the length and breadth of the menu, the quality and flavor of the food, the excellent servers, and fair prices. Many dishes are served family style, so sharing is an option is you can't decide."

  • "Great local Italian restaurant. All the pasta is made in house. Decor is comfortable. Definitely a keeper."

  • "Everything was fine. The service and food were very good. But the bill that came did not accurately report what the 6 of us had ordered and included an item that we hadn't ordered (though I think I know why there was a mix-up). They also had a 20% tip included automatically (i guess because we were six). They only overcharged us a total of $13 on a $300 bill so we decided not to make a stink. So overall I'll go back but I'll be sure to carefully check my bill when it comes."

  • "I've been going to Argia's for almost 10 years. But was disappointed last night with their service. Slow, disorganized and wait staff lacking basic skills. Had the wait staff been better trained, it would have been a much better experience. Food quality remains very good over all. Mussels were fabulous."

  • "We used to love eating at Argia's and considered it the best italian restaurant in town. This restaurant is NOT what it used to be!! The food used to be fresh and delicious and now it is nothing more than a Chef Boyardee served in a restaurant. We were highly embarassed to have taken family in from out of town there after telling them how great it was. The service was horendous (took a half hour for my grandmother to get her hot tea) but the food has gone from the best in NoVa to the absolute worst. I ordered the chicken parm and there was no sauce on the chicken and the spaghetti that came with it tasted like Chef Boyardee. There is NO WAY they still make their pasta in house and ther is NO WAY the marinara sauce was fresh. Do Not Go There"

  • "We did not have a good experience this time. Service was poor and slow. We felt ignored. Food was adequate and well presented but tasteless. Inadequate number of wait staff, yet more than enough to walk around and ignore our dishes."

  • "Wonderful time, GREAT food and excellent service! There were 7 of us and we had plenty of space and were able to sit and enjoy conversation. Perhaps the weather allowed for a more quiet atmosphere, and we were there early (5pm)...but it was terrific nonetheless. :) Food was YUMMY! Would totally go there again!"

  • "Great ambiance, food, and wait staff. Will certainly return to try other menu items. Strongly recommend if you like home made Italian food. Definitly beats Olive Garden for dining experiance. Overall a B++."
