  • "The server took drink orders from 3 of our party of 5, and walked away before I even had time to ask a question about the wine list. And no, the reason he left was not to bring the sommelier, who we never saw. I later asked why he had walked away. He said not a word..shrugged..stared..and went away again. Had I not been with clients I would have left the restaurant then and there. Eventually another server appeared, and she took care of us competently but indifferently. The food was fantastic, but the described service incident was infuriating. In addition, at the end of the meal my credit card came back with the (much lower) bill from another table. The server barely said thank you when I pointed it out. I won't go back."

Friendly, pleasant, and attentive staff. Food prep excellent. Great interior and great little bar that is sort of set apart from the restaurant. I have not had a better meal in mid-town in years. Just go."

The oxtail dumpings with mushroom consomme and black truffles were absolutely perfect. Highly recommended. Both desserts that we had were quite disappointing but that won't stop us from going back."

  • "They had great and attentive service. The waiters were not overly bothersome and were happy to respond to my questions. My date arrived a little bit late after the reservation time, but nonetheless, I did not feel pressured or hassled. The surroundings are very intimate and I felt like I had entered someone's private residence. The food was very good and I especially recommend the monkfish. It was so soft and easy to chew on like tofu. All in all it is a classy Midtown spot in NYC. Suit up!"

Dumpling appetizer with truffles was outstanding As was grilled octopus. Ken the proprietor couldn't be nicer as well. He went to each table and checked How things were going. That's a rarity in NY."

Mr. Aretsky was there with friends and came over to the table several times. The food was divine. Our waiter beyond courteous and charming. I can't think of a more lovely evening. WOW!"

  • "When you go to one of the best restaurants in New York you expect them to deliver on that promise. Patroon does just that. The food selection and perpetration was perfect. The service outstanding. The menu may appear brief at first glance but they do offer options for most any taste, especially including the specials. The table side prepared Cesar salad was quite good and rarely offered anywhere else these days. Amazing steaks and an incredible looking rack of lamb. I had the halibut which was excellent , especially when accompanied by the unique and scrumptious vegetables. Enjoy this classy place friend. Oh, they offer some unique cocktails as well."

  • "We had made a reservation, but got a table very near the kitchen, with lots of activity. My companions had scallops, which they loved. The soup was somewhat disappointing, & I had a salad with chicken which was overcooked. It was crowded, as we were there during the holidays, but the service was barely acceptable for a restaurant in this price range. There were lots of "regulars" who seemed to be treated better. We thought it was rather over-priced. There was no fixed-price menu, and lunch prices were high for entrees, which were entirely a la carte. The scallops were a special & were lovely, but there was no side (pasta, vegetable, etc.) just the bay scallops, and the price was $30+. A side vegetable was an additional $12 or so."

  • "I took my family to Patroon for a dinner out before seeing the tree and Rock Center. Our son lives in NY and is very familiar with eating at the finest restaurants, so I wanted only the best for this evening out. I chose this restaurant mainly for convenience as it is located between his apartment and Rock Center (important for my 82 year old mom who insisted on walking), but also wanted high end food in a singular restaurant (not one of a chain). Patroon was a fantastic choice.The Maitre'd and our waiter made the evening even that much more special. They were both very attentive, courteous and friendly. The ambiance was classy, but very comfortable. While expensive, you get what you pay for. I look forward to eating there again."

  • "Even by New York standards, the prices here were way over the score. Open Table should list it at $$$$, not $$$. I ordered a salad and an entree, and the bill was more than $60. The baby lettuce salad was forgettable. The grilled halibut was very good, as was the service. Everything's a là carte, and apparently the vegetable portions are very large, designed for sharing. This is probably a great place to take a group, on a generous expense account, or for a special occasion, but compared with the other excellent offerings nearby, the prices were just way out of line. (There was a lobster special that night: appetizer $75, entree $125.)"
