The service was professional, attentive and very accomodating, especially with one of our dining companion's dietary restrictions.   • "This Easter Sunday will be remembered for sometime. We knew the reputation going in, but often times places with sterling reps don't exceed expectations. Arethusa definitely excels on all counts. Creative, innovative, but not overdone. Wild menu that makes standard dishes special. We're pretty particular to what we eat and how it is prepared - medium rare fish, rare red meat, crunchy green veggies. These guys don't miss a trick and they know how to surprise with the chefs extras before and after the meal. With the Arethusa dairy farm goods and ice cream next store (same owners), everything is fresh and organic. Everyone was singing to their foods ... "ooohhhh!! hmmmmm!!! wow that was good". We'll be back for sure. "

  • "We went for an early meal prior to going to the movies, so we sampled only two main courses. But they gave us an amuse bouche of borsht with horseradish and grape. My partner dislikes anything with beets and is not a horseradish fan - yet he gulped it down and loved it. His duck was tender and delicious, if perhaps a tad overdone. My scallops were wonderful. Some might complain about the small quantity for a main course, but it made up for it in flavor. We did not order dessert, which was just as well since they gave us some Arethusa chocolate milk and warm chocolate chip cookies which we happily scarfed down. They serve fabulous bread with their own butter - could have made a meal of it. "

  • "If there were a 6 star rating, that would reflect the quality of Arethusa. Imagine when everything is prepared perfectly: 2 beginnings, 4 entrees, 4 desserts, wine selection. Kudos to the kitchen. The staff was remarkable in every way..........attentive, knowledgeable and considerate. Anxious to return..........haven't thought that of a restaurant in years!"

  • "As a foodie and a former New Yorker I have found a few restaurants in CT that I enjoy but until my dinner at Arethusa al Tavolo in Bantam I had not had a WOW dining experience in Connecticut. I was skeptical that this much hyped venture from the owners of Arethusa Dairy, better known as the owners of Manolo Blahnik, could live up to the status of their much coveted shoe brand. Wow. Service? Impeccable. They go out of their way to make you feel important and well served. Presentation? From wall to plate (truly the works of art here) Arethusa al Tavolo is pitch perfect. So, we could have guessed these guys know a thing or two about customer service and how to make beautiful things, but what about making good food? Off the charts! Bravo"

The wait staff was superb and exceedingly well-trained and made Arethusa Al Tavola a 5 star experience. Portions were perfect and the four of us in our party thoroughly satisfied with our selections. The beignets were to die for! Looking forward to another visit! The only down-side was the noise level - the restaurant was not at capacity yet it was very difficult to hear and have a conversation."

  • "We went to Arethusa for the second time on Saturday evening with our two college age daughters. The food was fabulous and the presentation was first-rate. Our waitress was lovely and completely unpretentious. Our every need or desire was quickly and effortlessly taken care of. My lobster and avocado appetizer was sublime and my halibut was just plain delicious. We shared everything and enjoyed it all. The tiramisu and sticky toffee pudding was just sinful. Overall, we had a fantastic evening and look forward to our return in a few weeks to celebrate my wife's birthday."

  • "Food was excellent! Service was great! The tasters sent from the chef are a great way to try new items! We got a corner booth, which was private and fit 5 of us comfortably, which was great for a Birthday dinner! The only thing that is somewhat constructive that I can say is we had a different table for Valentine's day and the tables tend to be very close. Which wont be an issue for New Yorkers who travel to the country for the weekend. But locals may find it a bit too close."

The table shared the deviled eggs, which are a great way to start the night and dive into the sophisticated twists on traditional dishes the kitchen is churning out with grace and elegance. A marrow special was devoured by the entire table. The strength of the kitchen looks to be in meats and game. A fish dish was overwhelmed with chorizo, which worked beautifully in another dish. Save room for dessert. Although known for its ice-cream (the rum raisin is the best I've ever tasted), there are exceptionally delicious options being created by the talented in-house pastry chef. The semifreddo was a standout. The dining room is simple, clean lines; nice bar area to dine too."

My one complaint is that some of the bottles on the wine list are excessively priced, that should be checked."

Although the waitstaff was at times overly attentive, but only until the dining room filled with patrons, it was not considered stuffy or pretentious. The food was plentiful, delicious, beautifully presented and served at a very comfortable pace. Looking forward to the outside dining and a lighter meal at the bar."

  • "We had dinner at Arethusa al Tavolo last night for my 60th birthday. I lived in NYC for decades so my standards are high. But I am very happy to report, this restaurant is a real gem. For starters, the bread and butter are beyond belief. I know it sounds silly but we are talking as good or better than Vermont in the B and B department and sheer heaven. Very strong appetizers, including the fondue with fresh veggies. The Peking duck was amazing and my friend was pleased with the scallops. The sticky toffee bread pudding and ice cream were fabulous. Only thing is, the service was slow. There was a long wait in between the appetizer and the main course. But all in all, I would give this restaurant high marks."

My wife and I were greeted warmly, sat at a great table with a view of the kitchen, and waited on by an OUTSTANDING server, Liz A. She went above and beyond in every way possible to ensure our visit was amazing. We sampled several appetizers as well as the Peking Duck entrée, and all were incredibly delicious. Flavors were well balanced and all was prepared to perfection. From the lobster and avocado salad, to deviled eggs, through dinner and ending with the chocolate tiramisu, it was a fantastic evening. The ambience was chic and hip, reminiscent of a NYC trattoria, the customers full of energy and conversation, and the staff so helpful! We highly recommend it!"

  • "From the moment you walk through the door the hostess greets you with a friendly Hello and a warm smile. The staff is very attentive, they anticipate your need before you even know you need it! The homemade bread and Arethusea butter are just the start of this dining experience. I had the cheese fondue which came with vegetables, chrizo, pumpernickel bread. We then shared the wild boar ravioli, the meat filling was so tender. My dinner was the duck cooked to perfection with just the perfect amount of spice. The Steak also cooked to perfection with a potato tart. The desert was Beignet so light and airy severed with a lemon sauce and a berry sauce that tops any in New Orleans. Excellent!"

  • "What a find in Connecticut ... we love it here. Marwan graciously recommended a lovely meursault to accompany our meal, the service was excellent (attentive but not intrusive), and chef Magill performed his culinary magic to perfection. I selected the foie gras and wild boar ravioli that was delicious in its earthy fragrance and subtle yet rich flavors. The scallops were lighter, but very satisfying. We fortunately took Marwan's suggestion for dessert and were not disappointed with the kumquat cake and kaffir lime panna cotta -- a heavenly cascade of sensations with fresh rosemary ice cream and coconut sorbet with a touch of cilantro creatively nuanced in the finish. We will be back ... soon!"

  • "We went here to celebrate Valentines and a Birthday...there was a snow storm howling outside...and our table, in the window, was romantic...the service was outstanding...and every plate was amazing. My personal favorite: wild boar ravioli...the sauces enhanced the flavors of the meat perfectly. Be aware that the meals were thoughtfully prepared...and between the servings...the chefs sent out a beet soup shooter and a lemon madeleine taste/spoon. As far as the dessert...we had the tiramisu(made for 2)...this is so far from the ordinary that I fell in love with this dessert all over again!"

  • "This was our first experience here and, frankly, we came because we've become recent fans of the dairy. We were expecting a very nice meal but what we found was beyond our expectations. The waitstaff was present, very knowledgeable and attentive without hovering. They answered all type of questions and... I found this to be impressive, passed our comments back to the owner as he was going around, greeting people. We felt that they "knew" us. All this even before we had gotten to the food. We had the beet/apple salad which was terrific. The presentations on all our dishes was among the best we've seen..and we do this sort of thing a lot.The quality of the food was equal to the presentation. We will definitely be back!!"

  • "We finally tried al Tavolo, enjoying a late, light dinner with one appetizer (a ceviche of Nantucket scallops) and two entrees (wild boar ravioli and duck breast) - all were imaginatively and immaculately prepared. The dining area is pleasantly laid out - casual nice - but tables are close together. While not inexpensive - its well worth the price for the quality - we will be back with bigger appetites!"

  • "2nd visit. Table not ready until 15-20 min. after our re. 1st course out quickly. Deviled eggs - 1 @ lobster, foie gras, smoked salmon and traditional, good, better shared. Wished I had a crusty, crunchy something to go with it. Long wait (45 min.) for main course. Salmon was drowned in an egg yolk based sauce; it's richness on top of the appetizer left me overwhelmed. Better if less sauce or served on the side. Also, though the salmon itself was delicious, light and moist, I did take note that it was more medium than medium rare, as ordered. For dessert, my husband chose one of the Arethusa Dairy ice creams, but was dismayed that only two flavors were offered. We will go back, but this visit was a disappointment."
