Had a chance to grab lunch at Area 31 during Miami Spice with some colleagues. To start, we had the Snapper Tirrado and Grouper Ceviche! The snapper was amazingly fresh and delicious. For the main courses, we had the Grouper Burger, Wild Grains, and Chicken. The burger was phenomenal, and the chicken as well. The grains were good but we're just missing something. And the desserts, we had the key Lime tart, our favorite, passion fruit and Mango panacota, and the crunch!

My husband and I ate at Area 31 early on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was empty, so we decided to go outside on the patio. We ended up eating dinner at the bar outside and had a great experience. Our bartender/server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We shared a crab cake appetizer (huge!), one entrée and a side dish and that was plenty. The swordfish was excellent! Good wine list. The view of the city and Biscayne Bay is beautiful and you can enjoy a drink or bite to eat on one of their couches if you'd like to fully appreciate the scenery. There is also the pool right next to the bar so you also have the view. Overall, we had a great dinner and we will be back. Really love Kimpton hotels!

Although food can rate at an acceptable level, the service kills everything else. We got sat after 45 minutes of arriving, then our waiter forgot about us for another 25 mins, only showed up once and rapidly rushed all the dishes ordered. I had heard good things about the restaurant but wont bother coming back.

Our server Adam was very friendly and relaxed. The restaurant knew it was our anniversary and added a lot off special touches from printing happy anniversary on our menus, to giving us some champagne to toast with, and selecting a dessert sampler for us . The Scallops and Octopus were incredible, the Grouper Ceviche Delicious, and the snapper was perfectly cooked and delicious.

We went for lunch during Miami Spice and it was not very busy. The food was good, appetizers were better than entrees. The grouper ceviche was really great, as was the kale and quinoa salad and the gazpacho, which was unique. We all had grouper sandwiches and they were ok - they kind of tasted like grouper mixed with canned salmon. The fries were excellent. The desserts were small, but good and fine for lunch. There were two negatives. Firstly, each course took forever. It is difficult to imagine what the service would be like if they were busy. This was compounded by a 25 minute wait to get our car. Despite the line of people, they didn't move with any sense of urgency and this made us not want to do this again especially for lunch.

The decor of the restaurant was really nicely done, it was very chic. But I dine for the food and it was just OK. The price for the quality and quantity was not up to my expectations. I wanted to try out Area 31 because a friend had gone for drinks and he had fun. I later asked him and he only had drinks so he didn't try the food. I ordered from the Miami Spice menu. I had the gazpacho it was the best part of the meal. I had the swordfish, it came with potatoes and corn. The swordfish was nicely done but it was very small and the potatoes and corn didn't really do the trick of bringing the dish together. The dessert was not good at all. It just tasted like chocolate, nothing original.

The best surprise was the incredible downtown view. If we hadn't sat outside I would have still been pleased but the ambiance outside was great even on an August midday. Under the spacious umbrellas the temperature was lovely. Our meal took a little longer than I would have expected but when it came, it was worth the wait. Fresh ingredients, well-balanced. Our server also made the suuggestion of the strawberry basil mimosa. So good I'll make it at home.

The service is really bad, they took so many time for everything, looks like they forgot about you! You have to ask for the same thing many times. And the food is worst, we asked for tiradito, the worst ever, the fish was awful the quality was really bad, and then a chicken so dry and with any flavor. We sat at the terrace and suddenly some ice came from the sky, it hurt me. In resume it can't be worst.

After waiting 1 hour for being seated, even though I made reservation, the service was poor. We were 5 persons and the waitress barely talked to us, didn't even said anything about the menu and took forever to bring the dishes to the table. We got there at 8:15 pm (on Wednesday) and left at 12:20. 4 hours for a dinner. They brought the main entrance to 3 members of my party and made us wait 10 minutes to bring the rest.

What a disappointment!! Beautiful view and decor but the food was awful. It started off well -- Scallop appetizer had good presentation and delicious, although only three small scallops with a few tiny pieces of assorted vegetable. Downhill from there. The chicken is tastier at Publix. Two small legs on top of two pieces of tepid, uncooked (not al dente) ravioli with a teaspoon of tasteless squash. My Husband ordered the seafood risotto. The seafood had no taste other than whatever they had cooked with the risotto of which I couldn't have more than one bite. Check was $120 with tip, 1 glass of $12 wine, no dessert or coffee. Left feeling ripped off and won't be back.

If what you need is a nice place to dine and wine and enjoy a conversation with your counterparts, go somewhere else. The noise level, at least on Friday evenings is beyond description! The staff, however, did its best to accommodate us at a quieter corner outside.

Wanting to try a new restaurant conveniently located to my friend's office and me, I found Area 31 on Open Table which fit our needs. Located on the 16th floor of the Epic Hotel in Downtown Miami, we had a beautiful view to go along with an excellent dinner. We each ordered an appetizer and then shared the Red Snapper with which we tried two of their sauces. While I found the Red Pepper Sabayon not to have a great deal of flavor, the Tomato/Olive/Caper was very flavorful and the fish was cooked perfectly and really did not need any sauce. Had it not been for the valet parking which you have no choice but to use, I would give this restaurant 5 Stars. First it is $15, plus tip, with validation and then it took 20 minutes to get my car.

We went last night for our anniversary and were seated at a lovely table outside. Awesome views of the city. The service was top notch from every staff member that came to our table. We had the sashimi tuna which was perfect and the scallops were so good we ordered a second serve! Entrees: Pork trio - absolutely delicious, and snapper with sides of brussels, quinoa and yucca - loved everything. Great value desert selections - you choose mini deserts from the menu...3 pieces at $11 was just perfect for 2. Very nice to be offered complimentary bubbles at the end of our meal. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be back. Thanks for a great night.

We've been going to Area 31 since it opened, through at least three incarnations. The food is very good. We mostly go for the great otudoor dining and the amazing view of Miami. Can't really see Biscayne Bay from the dining area, but the view of Brickell Ave. is truly world-class. Could be NYC, could be Hong Kong. Really nice. The new bar scene is very energetic, to say the least. Sadly on this latest occasion (July 24) the service was very slow. I am not sure if the waiter was overly challenged (he had tables both inside and out) or the kitchen was slow. Many of the bar patrons, seeking perhaps a respite from the heavy bass music or the crowd at the bar, kept coming over to sit down in the dining area of the terrace. Distracting.

The appointment did not go as smooth as I thought. We did arrive late due to the bridge being opened and traffic in the area. After we arrived, we were sat down after 15 minutes in a nearly empty restaurant. We had an ocean and city view from the table which was amazing. Our appetizers were real small as was our entrees. The food was delicious and prepared with perfection. The service was not so perfect. Our waters and drinks were left empty several times and we had to reach out to our server for refills. Empty plates were on the table and we had to remind waiters to please clear our table. I did appreciate the custom made menu for our birthday guest which had "Happy Birthday" written on. Valet service was a nightmare though.

There were 3 of us for a birthday for Mariella. The menu was printed with her name of it which was great. The waiter said she could have it as a keepsake and to pick it up at the front desk when we left. On the way out the hostess said the menu had gotten wet and they threw it away. Our meal cost $400.00 and this little error in goodwill left a sour note as we walked out.

This was supposed to be a 1000 point restaurant. I have only been credited with 100 points and would like to have this corrected ASAP. It is clear from the OpenTable website that this is a 1000 point venue on the date and at the time for the reservation. There seems to be a serious glitch in the system so be sure to watch your confirmations to make sure you are receiving the correct point credits.

Perhaps it was the "happy hour" thing going on at the bar, but without a doubt this was way too noisy for a nice dining experience. If I am going to a place to pay $20-65 for dinner, I would think one would actually be able to enjoy dinner and not have to shout across the table to have a conversation. Happy hour usually ends a bit earlier everywhere else I have been - we sat for dinner at 9pm and it was obnoxiously loud. On the plus side, the service was fantastic.
