Diner Reviews
  • "limited food menu but if you know it and like it its great."

  • "Great spot to grab a small snack and a great drink. Love the outdoor seating!"

  • "Searched for tapas restaurants on yelp and this popped up with good reviews, so we went. We were disappointed because it was more like a wine bar, and there was a very small selection of food. But the food we did get was good, especially the gouda cheese with the little Graham cracker. Overall not bad, just not what we expected. And for $50 (no drinks), we didn't get much food at all."

  • "Sometimes you don't want a full dinner. Sometimes just a fine wine and some great food does the trick. Artesian was the perfect pre-theater place to go."

  • "I brought my mother to Ardesia for a light post-theater meal. The service was adequate, just a shade inattentive. The food was very good--we had a nice variety of light bites: awesome cheese, nice lamb skewers and shrimp plate, very good deviled eggs. I had checked the menu online the morning we went and was disappointed that some items I was looking forward to, such as the quail eggs, weren't even mentioned on the menu. The wines were good but not great, the deserts were boring and the cookies definitely not worth waiting 20 minutes for, and what's up with no coffee??!! All in all, a nice place to eat nice food on a Sunday afternoon, no real missteps but no wows either. "

  • "For small plates accompanied by good beers and wine, this is a real find in a neighborhood where one would least expect it."

  • "The wife and I went out for a Saturday afternoon. The wine social list they have is great and the small plates are delicious. The service was attentive. Would definitely go back."

  • "On a side street in Hell's Kitchen opt seating for either indoors or out. Always friendly, reliable service and great small plates which are perfect with their large selection of wines. Everything on the menu is now my favorite item!"

  • "Ardesia wine bar is one of those fantastic little places where the food is top notch (and I'm a picky person!). The service is great and décor is elegant and classy."

  • "Great option for pre theatre wine and light dinner. Great wine list and food. Perfect for when you don't want a long slow full meal."

  • "As this neighborhood popularity increases, more people will soon learn about this wonderful wine bar. Outdoor tables in the spring/summer surrounded by flower beds and low hedges makes it a wonderful place to sip wine and enjoy delicious small plates. Indoors is quite nice as well with double height ceilings which brings your eye up to the wine bottles which are set perched high above with a catwalk access. You won't be disappointed."

  • "I love the lighting and modern decor of this wine bar. The wine and cheese selection is outstanding and the servers/bartenders can reccomend perefct pairings. Reservations are a must so you will not be dissapointed during busy times. It is a tasty meal experience to taste different wines by the glass and the portions are perefct for tasting and sharing the different selection such as flank steak, duck, and NY pretzels!"

  • "Attractive food and wine list but music too loud and uncomfortable seating. Clearly aimed at a younger audience."

  • "Terrific wine list, accessible grazing menu, fun staff. Ardesia is that comfortable little place that doesn't ever take itself too seriously."

  • "I expected something different based on Opentable reviews. It is very out of the way, the place was almost empty, the menú is too small and the service poor."
    Dined on 10/12/2013
  • "Food was tasteless and clumsily served. For a wine list this place wasn't even close to serving decent choices."
    Dined on 9/8/2013
  • "I like the outdoor seating. Food and wine are good, but not too much food selection."
    Dined on 7/26/2013
  • "Everything about this restaurant was perfect. Granted we went at 5:00 PM on a Friday before any crowds started piling in. The Ricotta Crostini, Grilled Flank Steak, and Arugula Salad were all amazing. And the portions were on point. Small but made a big impact. And the prosecco...yum!"

  • "I recently went to Ardesia and had a wonderful time. The food was amazing! The staff was friendly and service was great. I've already recommended this place to everyone I know, and I suggest if you like wine bars and meat/cheese platters, I strongly suggest you check this place out. You won't be disappointed!"

  • "This place was great for those that want a casual evening or a "first date" type of atmosphere."

  • "Ardesia is a classic wine bar. They have a very nice selection of wines, including many selections by the glass, The food was equally as good as the wines. We visited Ardesia early (5:00pm), there were a few tables occupied, but it was mostly empty; thus the noise level was quiet. I am sure that it gets much livelier and louder later in the evening."

  • "A welcome change to fighting the tourists on restaurant row pre-theatre - relaxed atmosphere, great nibbles and super service"
    Dined on 5/24/2013
  • "Neighborhood watering hole with a great vibe and great food. We are vegetarians and found a lot to eat on their menu. Great wine list and local brews. Neighborhood is very sketchy (west 50's near 11th Ave.) except for that block, which has been gentrified. Several block walk to public transportation. Will go back."

  • "Could have been a little dimmer inside, otherwise very good. Pricey, but high end."
    Dined on 4/15/2013
  • "Perfect place to share small plates and enjoy a glass of wine. Easy walk from the theater district and away from the crowds. Saw a Saturday matinee and then walked in around 5pm with no problem finding a table. Server was extremely helpful and pleasant. Loved the shrimp skewers, pork sliders, and beet salad. Definitely would return for another visit."

  • "Checked this place out with a friend on a Tuesday night. The atmosphere is the big selling point here, as it is decorated in a modern, chic way with dim lighting. The service was also excellent, as our waiter was able to recommend wines and paired cheeses/meats based on our stated preferences. If you're looking for dinner, this is not the place as there are hardly any "hearty" meal options, but if you're looking for h'ors d'oeuvres and good wine, then you'll like it here. Overall, I'll definitely give it another try and would recommend it to friends."

  • "4 of us went before a concert at Terminal 5. We didn't want a heavy meal and the tapas here fit the bill perfectly. We shared the cheese plate and charcuterie, and several of the small plates. All were delicious. Great wine selection too. I'll be back when it gets warmer to sit on their lovely outdoor patio!"

  • "everything was terrific. found the ood menu to be a little limited. cheese plate was very good though. would like to have seen more small plate food items on the menu."

  • "Nice, low key wine bar. Not great for vegetarians or vegans but great wine and atmosphere. Comfy booths and seating."
    Dined on 11/5/2012
  • "We did not realize it was a tapas bar and were a little skeptical at first. We have an irrational dislike of tapas because you are constantly being interrupted you have to be figuring out what is going to be with what, and will you need 3 or 5 dishes...yes irrational. But we picked some great choices and were really pleased. The pulled pork was fabulous and the salads were just perfect. Loved the shrimp with chorizo as well. We most likely would not have gone if we had paid attention to the fact it was a tapas place, but we are really glad we did."
