A word from Ardeo + Bardeo
Ardeo+Bardeo, located in the historic district of Cleveland Park -- four miles from the White House -- is a neighborhood favorite serving modern American cuisine. The restaurant underwent a major renovation in November 2010 to enhance the modern bistro and wine bar, uniting the two restaurants with a 24-seat island bar. Executive Chef Nate Garyantes has crafted a menu which features cured meats, soups and salads, savory snacks, seasonal vegetables dishes and brick oven baked flatbreads. Ardeo+Bardeo has become a virtual “Who’s Who” of Washington. Those who frequent include Madeleine Albright, Jim Lehrer, Alan Greenspan and the former first family, the Clintons. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Recently enjoyed a lovely summer meal and chose the three course fixed menu which was pleasantly surprising with the freshest vegetables and halibut cooked to perfection. Ambiance and wait staff were very attentive and overall a very pleasant dining experience."

  • "Really unusual food pairings and unique cocktails. A foodie's paradise! Not a huge menu, but always interesting. This was our second visit. Delicious starters, salads and entrees."

  • "We had the 3 course fixed-price special tomato-featured menu. Food and service were excellent. Great menu and the food matched it. Venue was quite quiet, apparently more so than usual as it was the July 4th weekend."

  • "This is by far the best brunch in DC. Great service and excellent food at an outstanding price. The fact they serve bottomless mimosas is a cherry on the perfection cake."

  • "Hadn't been here in awhile. Went July 3rd so not crowded. Appetizers were disappointing, but main courses and a side were great! I ordered the grilled octopus small plate. There were so many other strong flavors on the plate, I couldn't taste the octopus at all. My companion had the salt cod fritters, which were very heavy and dense. Dipping sauce was excellent. Main courses, black pasta with a pulled pork ragu and baked meatballs with polenta and a small green salad, were excellent. Interesting spices with a little heat. Shared a delicious side of green and yellow patty pan squash and tomato that was fresh and lively. We were too full for dessert, unfortunately. Great by the glass wine list, loved that half glasses were offered!"

  • "Met a friend for brunch. The menu was diverse and interesting, the food enjoyable and the service outstanding. Best of all, we were allowed to sit and visit as long as we liked."

  • "I made a reservation for the rooftop terrace on my birthday and arrived on time to find my table had been given away. My party waited for an hour at the bar and was charged about $30 for my 2 drinks before we gave up and took another table downstairs. The 4 of us ordered different appetizers and entrees and shared. I'll say the pallete is very eccentric . It's a nice looking restaurant and besides the hostess who unapologetically gave away our table, the service was good but I still don't plan to return to Ardeo + Bardeo."

  • "This restaurant is always good with good service and unusual food. Great small plates for sharing, and prices are reasonable. Cheeses are particular good."

  • "Professional and attentive service, very good food reflects solid skills, nice neighborhood. The mussels were oututstanding and all selections were excellent and beautifully presented."

  • "This time my food was cold. I mean parts were warmish, but generally the food was served to me no at a temperature I found right."

  • "Four of us came here on a Saturday for brunch. We made reservations ahead of time and were sat immediately. It took a little while for the waitress to initially stop by, but the bottomless mimosas were steady flowing in after we had ordered. Each of us got the brunch deal, which consisted of an appetizer, entree, and bottomless mimosas for $28. It was a great deal and we all enjoyed our deviled eggs, Brussel sprouts, huevos rancherous, pork and grits, and BLT."

  • "Some friends suggested the restaurant and I was very disappointed had Brussels as an appetizer, they were good not the best and the scallops were ok too..."
    Dined on 6/17/2014
  • "The asparagus soup was refreshing and thoughtful combination, but the squash and tomato was bland without much character. My dinner companion said pea salad looked better than it tasted. This was my first time at the restaurant, but based on general menu and quality of food, probably would not go back. However, the wait staff was excellent -- helpful and considerate and prompt."

  • "Food was good and different ! Enjoyed the brunch - service was excellent. Waitress very familiar with menu items and gave great recommendations! Would go again"

  • "On a recent Saturday, I booked brunch for a party of 6 the next day. By the time we arrived, we'd added one more, but the staff was happy to accommodate us. Shortly into the brunch, due to a mis-communication, two additional friends arrived, bringing our total to a party of 9. This required the staff to reseat us as a larger table which luckily was still available. They were very kind as they did so and we were grateful. What followed was two hours of delicious food, good times, some of the best brunch coffee I've had in a while. We've been there before and will definitely be back after they made a potentially unfortunate situation so much better."

  • "Lovely Saturday brunch at Ardeo+Bardeo. We went with two of the salad options on this visit, the pea shoots with 63 egg and the farro/black eye pea salad; both delicious! A side of bacon and we were too full to consider dessert, but next time we will leave some room..."

  • "Great find. Terrific menu. Something for everyone. All Loved the Brussels sprout dish. Even those who aren't vegetable fans. Specialty drinks were noteworthy and refreshing. Went early due to 2 kids in the party. Had a booth in a corner and all went well."

  • "For $28, you get bottomless mimosas, an appetizer and an entree. With entrees pricing between $15-$20, you're definitely getting more than you paid for at this meal. The food itself is excellent and if you like brussel sprouts, I highly recommend the crispy brussel sprouts as an appetizer, which are served with pistachios and feta, a pairing that I wouldn't have thought to do, but adds texture to the vegetable. And if you really like bottomless brunch, Ardeo + Bardeo makes a strong mimosa. Our server kept returning to our table so that we never saw the bottom of our glasses. I plan to go back."

  • "I've gone to Ardeo for years, it's a great neighborhood spot made even better bc of valet parking for friends who don't live nearby. The food is always excellent, the service is good & you rarely have to wait for your table. The `Bardeo' bar area is fine, has some very good cocktails and yummy bar food. One quibble - when they redecorated the restaurant a few years ago they made the space darker and at the same time made the menu smaller with tiny font - it's very hard to read and I have perfect vision! Every time I go I see patrons putting on glasses and using little flashlights to read the menu - if they want an intimate dim space, make the menus easier to read?! Otherwise, Ardeo is a reliably terrific restaurant. "

  • "We ate on the rooftop and had a great view of the sunset. The food is artistically plated. The cold asparagus soup was a beautiful pale green with crab and served with real flair. Service was a little slow but not bad. The waiter was knowledgeable about the wine. The papardelle were very well-prepared with a meat ragu. They have huge scallops and ravioli, served on small rectangular plates. There were young children also eating on the terrace but they fit right in. I recommend the rooftop for summer weather. The restaurant is also close to the Cleveland Park Metro stop on the Red line. The street is fairly lively with quite a few other restaurants and sidewalk tables."

  • "We had a reservation but decided to sit at the bar for dinner. We were warmly greeted by the bartender, Kelly. She made fabulous recommendations! The Brussels sprouts were delicious, as was the black pasta carbonara. Kelly insisted that we save room for dessert...The doughnuts are a must! We shared everything and had fun chatting with other patrons and staff. This is a must stop for locals and visitors. "

  • "This was our first time back since the renovation. What a great time we had. The menu had many selections of items with fun twists on well known favorites that we enjoyed trying, the service was spot-on and we had no trouble talking to each other. With three other well know restaurants in Cleveland Park having recently closed, I sincerely hope Ardeo-Bardeo takes up the slack."

  • "The food is always good here. I had a nice time, but my friends complained about our waitress…she seemed more interested in getting rid of us than making any money even though we left her about a 50% tip. I would probably come back again since I like the food and the bottomless champagne, but my friends were really unhappy with this place. "

  • "I went to brunch at Ardeo+Bardeo on Sunday with some friends who were in DC from out of town. We opted for the champagne brunch (which included bottomless mimosas, an appetizer and entre). We were not exactly sure what we wanted, but our waiter was more than willing to give suggestions. Great food, great service, and a great bottomless mimosa option! "

  • "We chose Ardeo for a quiet celebration because my partner hadn't been before. The service was friendly and attentive, although one of the appetizers we had ordered never arrived. The food was again outstanding. I couldn't resist having the black spaghetti carbonara for a second time, and it was just as I recalled - pork ragu that melts in your mouth and a wonderful combination of flavors. The mushroom pizza was also very good, and the leftovers lasted well for lunch the following day. The appetizers (cod fritters and grilled octopus) were delicious, and of course the brussels sprouts were great."

  • "Wide ranging menu with many choices, and everything our party of six ordered was attractively presented and quite tasty. Especially loved the doughnut dessert. Service is friendly and efficient."

  • "A wonderful spot for brunch. A nice variety of options in both directions... Breakfast and lunch. Not all pancakes and French toast! Food was excellent. Fresh, interesting and well seasoned. A moment of panic when seated near a table with three small children, but they were very quiet and well behaved! "

  • "Ardeo is good on any occasion and (all one can drink) brunch is certainly one of them. Arrive early and have your choice of seating. "

  • "The small plates were all delicious, and the wine selection was good. The outdoor balcony does not have a good view, although it was very pleasant to sit outside on a mild evening. "

  • "The ease of eating at Ardeo+Bardeo is appreciated by Cleveland Park neighbors and friends. The food is consistently good, the menu varied and the wine list more than satisfactory! This foodie appreciates the ongoing care and attention to quality dining at the lang-standing neighborhood venue. Great sides including brussel sprouts, always good fish and appetizer dishes, cause this reviewer to highly recommend the experience."

  • "No complaints about the service. Definitely trying very hard and succeeding in that department. Went for Mother's Day Brunch, which seemed overpriced for what it was. Everyone ordered different dishes and as expected, some better than others. The food was good, very good actually, but for the price maybe not quite up to par. "

  • "We had a wonderful Mother's Day and Birthday dinner on the rooftop. All the food was delicious-- especially loved the mussels, deviled eggs and scallops. "

  • "I've been to Ardeo-Bardeo a number of times, but not for awhile, so it was nice to find that it is still very good in spite of a change in chef and menu since my last visit. There is a nice selection of small plates, pastas and a few entrees (I had a very nice pappardelle with lamb ragout). The food and service are very good and the ambiance is pleasant and not noisy, at least not if one goes on the early side, which we did. Valet parking is available, which is a plus, though we didn't use it, since street parking is relatively easy if one goes earlier (we had a 5:30 reservation). "
