ARCADIAMy husband and I shared theMy husband and I shared the cowboy ribeye and it was an ample serving for each of us. A woman at the table next to us was served the lobster pot pie - the presentation was amazing. I wished I liked lobster! We also shared the beignets with Macallan butterscotch custard - divine!!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were outstanding-our waiter was very professional yet down-to-earth. He didn't rush us. We have been there many times - before the remodel and after and we have never been disappointed. Unfortunately , except for a few other restaurants on the Peninsula ( one actually) there just is no good food places. But, Arcadia is definately on the top of our list.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AM5 stars5 stars. The food is fantastic and the entire experience is wonderful from the first bite. This time the chef sent out two different small plates to add to our great dining experience. Look forward to our next visit.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was my first time thereIt was my first time there and I enjoyed the experience and the foods. I was not disappointed. I definitely will come here again!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMTable for Six at Arcadia, San JoseWe recently hosted a dinner party for six at Arcadia, within the downtown San Jose Hotel Marriot. We were unanimous in finding the quality of the food and service to be outstanding. Steaks were prepared according to our individual preferences, and the rack of lamb was flavorful, tender and generous. We enjoyed tasty appetizers, including the duck spring rolls, and the complimentary french fried potatoes in three variations, with matching dips. A la carte sides and salads were also generous and delicious. There is an excellent and well-stocked wine cellar. Though not an inexpensive restaurant, Arcadia justifiably ranks among the best San Jose has to offer. Decor is comfortably post-modern minimalist, slightly on the noisy side.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMPre concertWe only had about an hour to dine before a concert, and we were well taken care of -we dined well, and finished on time.
Great salads! And we loved the trio of French fries that were served instead of bread. We have dined here several times and it has always been very good.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed it very muchWe stayed at the Marriott Hotel so the restaurant was very convenient It was also easy to get a taxi to the Pavilion after dinner. We actually walked back and that was fun and easy. We ate at Arcadia before the concert. People were very friendly, service was fast and accurate. The salads were delicious. I had a lobster tail "accompaniment" which was perfect. My husband had shrimp which was also good. We had a very good cocktail first then drank our own wine. We all were very happy.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food. Only great service. We spent $450 for four of us for dinner. We were expecting excellent food. And we got it. They have a fairly long wine list, with very expensive bottles. They prepared a little dessert to celebrate my wife's birthday. This was much appreciated.
Our waiter seemed distracted. He never smiled. When he spoke to us, it was very faintly which made it tough to understand him. And, when he took our credit card and valet parking ticket, he forgot to bring the latter back and forced me to look for him. From a high-end restaurant like this, one would expect the waiting staff to make the guest a little more welcome than this...
One last note, the servings are way too big. I'd rather have smaller dishes in order to be able to sample more dishes...5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT STEAK!!!Ashwant, our server was very friendly and showed us a great time! My GF and I shared a majority of the items we ordered, and we thought the portions to be great!
1 Appetizer + complimentary Duck Fat Fries and 1 Entree Split = Perfect amount of food for the both of us. (And we aren't two skinny people either... I am over 200 lbs! All muscle... ;D)
Anyway, great food, service, and atmosphere! Will be back again!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMNice ambience environmentI enjoyed my time here, i specially requested a windows seat because downtown at night is amazing. Food was great, the noise level is just enough that it doesnt get awkward if you and ur date arent talking much, our server was friendly. Overall it feels formal but not so formal that it is intimidating they also have free valet parking for 2.5 hours, just pull up ur car up the marriot entrance and theyll tell you what to do5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodThis is a Michael Mina restaurant good. This is my first time dining at Arcadia. Food was amazing starting from appetizer to desserts. Entrees are large portion especially the cowboy ribeye and pork chop. I would skip the scallops though...small portion for an entree and caviar was missing. Side dishes are amazing. I have to say the dessert was amazing. I had the beignets. The dipping sauce was Macallan butterscotch. It was a nice touch.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFancy and cozyThe food was well presented and fancy, expensive but not outrageous, although some steaks were pricey but delicious ($40-50). Dinner for 2 with a steak and dessert was about $80
Dessert was delicious, great atmosphere, dress nice, but you don't have to be too fancy
We went on a Thursday night and it was quiet, really romantic
We got complementary duck fat fries with dipping sauces... AMAZING!
Our waiter was very nice5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Review to End All ReviewsArcadia really has very fantastic food. It's quite expensive, but it's good for a special occasion. My wife and I had the Kurobuta pork chops and the New York. Both were excellent. I recommend either. We also had the truffled mac and cheese, which was delicious.
The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, but I only gave three stars because he didn't really check up on us enough. There were times we had to call other waiters over to help us because our waiter was hanging out at the bar on the other end of the room.
Beautiful location and great restaurant layout. I'd like to come back. Maybe when I get paid again.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe mashed potatos were toThe mashed potatos were to die for, a great experience all around.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Excellent Service and FoodWe have dined at Arcadia quite a few times and the staff is always attentive and professional. There are constants on the menu (like the lobster pot pie) as well as seasonal dishes that are unique and ever-changing.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMMust-tries here are the mushroomMust-tries here are the mushroom bisque and the beignets. Truffled mac and cheese is delightful as a side. Half-off a bottle of wine on Monday nights is a great deal. I'd try for a booth near a window or a regular table -- the half-booths in the circular area are uncomfortable.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best fine diningOne of the best fine dining restaurants in Downtown SJ minus the snobby-ness of SF. I love this restaurant. The DuckFat Fries are awesome and filets are great.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, we had theExcellent food, we had the wagyu beef and pork chops :) excellent service from Ash! Thank you4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI chose Arcadia because it'sI chose Arcadia because it's located very close to the San Jose performing arts center. In general I'm satisfied with my experience. Arcadia isn't wildly innovative, but it is solid. I found the food a bit salty, but everything I ate worked well with the salt. When you're ordering, don't forget that they bring you a trio of duck fat fries instead of bread, so you might want to reconsider ordering that appetizer. We had the short rib potato skins, which were interesting and tasty, and the fried chicken, which was surprisingly light. Wouldn't come here just for dinner, but would definitely return if I was going to be in the area for something else.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThere are no words to describeThere are no words to describe this place......it's simply perfect. GREAT FOOD, GREAT CHEFS, GREAT MANAGEMENT!!!!!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMArcadia went out of theirArcadia went out of their way to create a great Easter brunch. There were the usual brunch favorites, combined with many of the special dishes Michael Mina is known for. The staff was energetic and friendly, the rib eye was sensational. Those pot pies...not so much. Watch out if you order alcohol-champagne at 10 bucks a flute? Wowie!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot at the bottom ofGreat spot at the bottom of the Marriott convention center in downtown San Jose here. Excellent range of food items from comfort American to modern gastro fusion. I'll definitely go back and possibly hang at the bar - Tanq - one of these nights.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great evening! CustomerAlways a great evening! Customer service is top notch (thank you, Ash!). Fabulous wine, inventive dinners. Love the Ahi tartare, love the duck fat fries with the cherry ketchup dipping sauce. Roasted mushrooms are divine. Yum.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFood 5 stars, Decor needs more starDelicious food and excellent service. The decor needs to be updated.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMNice ambiance and great service.Nice ambiance and great service. A bit pricey, but appropriate service and food.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food! InterestingOutstanding food! Interesting flavor combinations in some cases. We were a party of five, and ordered quite a few different entrees and appetizers. I have to say that EVERYTHING I tasted was extremely good. The service was very good too. It's a bit pricier than it should be (in my humble opinion), but the 50% the entire wine list on Monday's was a fantastic way to counter-balance!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
