Diner Reviews
  • "no interest to the customer's concern, from greeter to server, menu uninspirational, dry and boring, reputation precedes the actual dining experience, leave a bad taste in one's mouth,"

  • "We were in British Columbia visiting Whistler and very excited to try this restaurant as we watch Mr. Ramsey on tv. Our waiter was wonderful and helpful and the food was amazing! Our dinner took quite a bit longer than we had hoped (a good 40 minutes) but the manager brought us a dessert sampler on the house and was very apologetic. All in all this was a great dining experience and we would definitely good back. Try to oysters 5 ways for sure!"

  • "They gave us a special dessert plate for our anniversary and a special window table so that was excellent!"

  • "Always enjoyable and tasty experience. The service, food and menu never disappoints. When in Whistler, this is a great dining opportunity."

  • "We went there to celebrate a friends bday, our server Alex was very attentive to our needs. The food was excellent, my beef sirloin was done to perfection. It was a pleasant surprise when our dessert came, and around the plate was a scribble out of melted chocolate "Happy Birthday" with a candle. My friends who were celebrating their birthdays were very happy. I'll be back there again"

  • "Great choice of food. Oysters were superb. We were four people, all different dishes and three courses, all excellent. Service was very attentive and good."

  • "We ate here as a special treat on our visit to Whistler and loved it. We enjoy food that is fresh and local and Araxi delivers. We have a few food allergies and the staff went out of their way to be accommodating. The setting is beautiful and the decor classy but not stuffy. Highly recommend."

  • "Our first time to Whistler and we weren't disappointed. Our waitress was terrific."

  • "Best place to celebrate ('twas my 60th birthday) any special occasion. Relaxed yet fine dining experience. We had the five ways oysters and New York steak. The server was very knowledgeable and attentive to our needs accommodating my picky requests (gluten-free bread was fresh from the oven!). I also exchanged my fries with more veges and that was ok with them. Dessert was the vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate and the marinated cherries over it was simply amazing."

  • "Araxi was amazing, everything I tasted was sensational. From oysters to steak, it was all fantastic. I would highly recommend the beef cheeks, and the chocolate fondant was on the best chocolate desserts I've ever had."

  • "It was a wonderful and friendly experience. The food was great and refined. The deserts was to die for. It was just a little noisy when there is quite a lot of people. Otherwise a wonderful restaurant."

  • "Only thing that was good about Araxi was the food. Service was not good at all. They were paying no attention to our needs but the tables beside us were getting all the attention. My opinion on it was they figured they were going to get a better tip because the people beside us were older than we were and they were going to tip better. Never judge a book by its cover. Also the table beside us were so loud we couldn't even hold a conversation. Wasn't a very enjoyable anniversary dinner. Also we noticed the evening manager made his rounds to talk to all the tables but ours. We wouldn't recommend this restaurant to nobody. The Sidecut restaurant we went to the night before blew Araxi out of the water."

  • "We dined at Araxi whilst in Whistler last year and enjoyed it, so returned on this year's visit. The location, right in the heart of the village is very convenient and on a nice evening the outside tables are a great place to sit and watch the world go by. Inside has a warm atmosphere too, if the weather is not up to it. Food and beverage choice is extensive and there's a decent kids' menu if you need it. Our only negative on this occasion was that the service seemed rather slow, even though the staff levels (front of house at least) were reasonable. We'd been there about an hour by the time our mains turned up, although we enjoyed them when they did."

  • "Not surprising since it is whistler. Food was great and our server was very good as well but I have had better for less money."

  • "My wife and I go to Araxi every time we visit Whistler. It is one of the best restaurants in the world as far as we are concerned. We also tell everybody we know who is thinking of a reason to go to Whistler to go for Araxi if nothing else. There is obviously plaenty to see and do in Whistler all year long but dining at Araxi ranks at the top."

  • "We enjoyed a wonderful meal on the patio. Our server, Stuart, was efficient and helpful. Our entrees were delicious, and the dessert was stunning. Very nice presentation and combinations of flavors."

  • "Great tasting food and presentation. Attentive service."

  • "Pricey but exceptional. Oysters are some of the best I've had. Our two entrees were wonderful. Great wine list."

  • "My husband and I loved this place, the food and service are outstanding. Our server, very handsome outdoorsy young Frenchman (can't remember his name) was the best. We just cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. We had a oyster sampler paired with champagne, steak and venison as well as dessert. Everything tasted so clean, fresh and wonderful. We didn't have the best table location and it didn't matter, that's how great everything was."

  • "My husband and I wanted a nice restaurant to go to for a special occasion. This restaurant showed up as having vegetarian options when I was doing an internet search for restaurants in Whistler. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they have a separate vegetarian menu which is not advertised on their web site. We were not disappointed by the food or service even when there was a slight mix up with our food which they dealt with quickly and efficiently and gave me a salad to tide me over."

  • "We've been to Araxi several times before but this weekend was a particularly good experience. We sat outside at the bar and enjoyed oysters, caviar and two spectacular entrees. One of the best food experiences of the year for us."

  • "It was my boyfriend's Birthday - a weekend getaway to Whistler - and Araxi had been recommended. We stopped for a glass of wine the afternoon before, mentioned we had reservations for dinner the next night and were fortunate to have the same waiter both days. He not only remembered the wine we'd had the previous day but was able to guide us to a similar but different wine and consulted with the sommelier. The wine was excellent! We split a fabulous salad and ordered venison and beef cheeks (both new to us) and everything was beautifully presented and delicious! Our waiter was attentive and friendly and we had a memorable evening, complete with a Happy Birthday plate of 4 tiny treats. A delightful evening! We'll definitely be back!"

  • "Great experience. Oysters were nice and small with a perfect sauce to accompany them. We had the Seafood Trio appetizer to start. Best scallop roll I've ever had and I eat a lot of rolls. The salmon was really refreshing and beautiful. I love Ahi and Albacore tuna but this dish felt like it was missing something and didn't taste that fresh. The steak tenderloin was perfectly cooked and the demi wasn't too rich. I had the scallop main course and they were perfectly cooked with carrots and summer peas. Beautiful colors on all the dishes we ordered. Too full for dessert. Really enjoyed our server Sam. Amazing table maintenance and really appreciated his recommendations. Music was way too quiet though. Will be back for sure."

  • "Food was very good, service appeared pretentious and scripted, and the atmosphere was that of a library and bank lobby. Most restaurants provide meals to accommodate all budgets to spare some guests from any potential embarrassment. Araxi's attempt to accomplish this is to title the appetizer menu, 'Small Plates'. When my wife and I made our reservation nearly 12 months prior, we had no idea that we also needed to start an Araxi savings plan. They do provide a good narrative to soften the wine price shock, if that works for you."

  • "The food and service was wonderful! It is definitely in the plan for my wife and I to go back when we are in town again. Only complaint was that they could use more sound absorbing material to create a more romantic atmosphere."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "This is one of our favourite places and the food has always been outstanding. This time however it was good but lacking in flair and creativity. The menu and choices seemed more pedestrian than we remembered. any great place can have an off night so we will try again."

  • "The food and service was exceptional. The diversity of the menu is noteworthy. Great sampling of oysters."

  • "The food was great and the staff is wonderful! I had two French guests and the waitress was speaking to them in French. They were very excited."

  • "We had a great afternoon of food, drinks and conversation. The ambiance was terrific and it made for a memorable patio lunch. We came back with a larger group for dinner that same day and did it all over again."
    Dined on 7/8/2014
  • "Other than the oysters, the food is mediocre and did not live up to the reviews posted. We had the special of the day (fish) which was a mixture of flavors that all competed with each other and a tasteless fish. There are better options, especially at those prices."
    Dined on 7/6/2014
  • "Underwhelmed and surprised! Having eaten here years ago and at Cin Cin I expected a wonderful meal. The scallop entree was just ok. The portion was minimal and the scallops were cut at least in half. My friend had the prawn risotto and felt the same. I'm thinking it is just a tourist destination. Really disappointed. Won't go again as there are a lot of wonderful restaurants in Whistler."

  • "This is our 2nd time to Araxis in 6 months, and each time it has equaled or exceeded expectations. The food is interesting, with outstanding preparation. Each dish has an interesting combination of flavors. The Wine list is very extensive, it can be intimidating, but will certainly satisfy anybody knowledgeable about wines. The service is also very good, you have a waiter and support waiter plus sommelier plus bus persons looking after your needs. We will definitely go again. The only negative, is the noise level, which can be a bit high for conversation across the table."

  • "Food and service were both fantastic!!! Was our most expensive meal (by far) during our week in Whistler, but worth every dollar!"

  • "I took my mom to Whistler for mini trip. My friends recommended Araxi for nice dinner. We enjoyed every dish. Plus, service was outstanding. Araxi would be the restaurant I will go again whenever I go Whistler."

  • "Way under staff, then why do you keep adding to the reservation book? Reservations for 8pm at the bar with the wife. Made a note that we were interested in a tasting menu. got a phone call the day of our reservations at 4pm letting us know that the kitchen was way too busy to accommodate a tasting menu for 2. The reservation agent made me feel like it would probably be best if we cancelled. We got to the restaurant and the 2 hostess had a hard time sitting us down. The staff did not seem like, more like they obviously were, overworked and looked annoyed and tired, and rushed. Our server at the bar later confirmed our suspicions. I ordered lobster that was on the menu, they had none. I ordered caviar, on the menu, none. igomoretosaynospace"
