  • Excellent food, avoid during business party season
    OpenTable Diner Since 2013
    Dined on 11/22/2014
Overall I would say this is an excellent restaurant. The service was amazing and the food was cooked to perfection. We had soup, lamb, and the tenderloin and thoroughly savored each bite. My only reservation was that we were after a romantic, quiet meal and there was a business party happening that night. The were very load, shouting and jeering as they played different games. While I am happy they were having fun I think that it was very distracting for the remainder of the dinner guests and we certainly noticed it every single time it happened.

  • Frequent Fanciers of Fine Food Find ARAXI Fabulous
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011
    Dined on 11/22/2014
Our dining experience at ARAXI far exceeded our expectations and we were already expecting the best food in Whistler! Six of us, who dine out frequently, really enjoyed our ARAXI experience! The server was attentive, personable and knowledgeable. The rabbit was fantastic and the additional appetizer not on the regular menu (Quail) was delicious! The wine list is incredible. The noise level was the only negative in the whole evening. It was difficult to hear everyone sitting at our table. Obviously people around us were having a good time, as well. All in all, it is worth a trip to Whistler just to eat there!

  • Had higher expectations. Disappointing
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014
    Dined on 11/15/2014
Me and my husband had dinner at Araxi during Cornucopia and though food quality was good, we thought the restaurant was overrated given all the hype we had heard about. Perhaps the place is more for bar scene goers. Our prawn roll appetizer was delicious however we both were disappointed with the overall menu choices. Thought that the selection of entrees was limited and not inspiring. Ended up with a filet and a New York steak that were of standard AAA quality( no better) and that were seasoned and garnished rather boringly. We are unlikely to go back to Araxi in the future. Service was average. The companion restaurant "Blue Water Cafe" in Vancouver is far superior in our opinion.

I made a huge mistake and booked the reservation on the wrong day. When we arrived the hostess couldn't find it then told me it was the wrong day. My wife was a bit disappointed and we were about to leave. The hostess did some magic and was able to squeeze us in. The waiter was very good. We brought our 4 year old and the staff was very good with him. The food was pretty amazing. We all got the 5 course meal special. I paid extra for the charcuterie and steak. The steak was memorable I haven't had anything that good for a while. And by the the time that course came I wasn't that hungry anymore. The chocolate dessert was amazing as well. I will definitely go back next time we are at whistler.

This was my wife's second visit and based on the first we requested a quiet table. This choice was given, and the location was much better. However, as the night progressed, it became louder and louder. Best to make an early meal if you want to talk here! Food and service were fine, although we don't appreciate having our wine continually topped up.

We lucked out with the $35/5 course meal - each course kept the 5 star rating and teased/satisfied our palates over and over. The smoked tomato soup, the wonderful raw oysters, my wife's totally innovative yet simple green salad, my purple potato raviolli, the lamb (oh the lamb!!) my lemon tart, my wife's black forest cake - have to stop, makes me salivate just remembering. The incredible care to respect my wife's request for gluten-free while not losing one iota of taste and presentation. All of this plus the great wine recommended between our server - Mike - also 5 star - and the sommelier - WOW! Our first but definitely not last Araxi visit!

The restaurant is well reviewed, and all the locals highly recommend it, so a reservation was made for a late seating. The service was very good, the room noisy (full of families with young children), so if quiet romance is your thing, pass on this one. The kitchen was sold out of our first two choices, so everybody's non vegetarian standby was chosen, a steak. It was properly cooked and marbled, but presented on a large plate with a basket of fries, with half a dozen green beans thrown in. Frankly, for a price in the mid $40's, a bit more effort was expected, and never fries. Ever. It was good, but certainly not the "oh wow, it is incredible, you have to eat there".

The five course meal deal for $33 was fabulous, although certain choices (beef) was an additional $12. There are lots of wine choices but nothing even close to the $33 price for the meal. And of course, the least expensive bottle of wine was sold out. The restaurant was too noisy and the tables for 2 were too big for my husband and I to have a conversation. Still, the food was pretty amazing.

We were a group of 3 and enjoyed the food very much. It was a special of 5 courses for $33 (their 33rd anniversary), and all were outstanding. The restaurant was almost full, and the noise level made the experience unenjoyable. There is a need for some sound abatement-fabric on the walls or ceiling. We were glad to leave and probably would not return, even though the service and the food were excellent.

Araxi continues to provide excellent food and service. My only criticisms of it are the noise level (it is difficult to carry on a conversation with even those next to you) and the wine list which starts at almost $60 for a bottle and there is very little selection at that price range.

My husband and I recently visited Araxi for a Saturday dinner out. It was busier than we expected for late October! The service was outstanding all around. We ordered the beet salad and it was the best I've ever had - great presentation, delicious golden and red beets with soft mascarpone, toasted nuts, green garnishes. The venison was not quite as good. Again, beautiful presentation but a bit tough. Cappuccinos were delicious and wine list was deep yet approachable (thanks to the help of our server).

The restaurant has a fantastic location----easily walked to from so many of the hotels and central condos. The ambiance was lovely---soft lighting and beautiful linens. Our food was excellent as was our service. The Saturday night we were there was very busy so it was very loud----lots of large tables. We were at Earls the night before and couldn't hear each other----we expect that from Earls. We were hoping for a quieter night at Araxi. We still would highly recommend your restaurant.

The staff is attentive and enjoyable, they recommend wine to go with your meal and came to the table and asked if anyone has food allergies. I do so thought that was very helpful. Overall I would highly recommend Araxi.

Came after 2-hr of hiking, I was ready for a good meal and decided on the 5 course set menu. There was some mixup with my reservation, but since I'm dinning alone, They offered to sit me at the lounge. Due to the colder than expected weather, I asked for a custom made drink Symphony without any ice. The drink came as comfortably warm and a real surprise, with many levels of flavours. Symphony is a good name for this mixed drink, either cold or warm (probably due to the ginger). Each course of the set menu was a nice portion, flavourful, beautifully presented, and I finished the meal throughly satisfied and not too full. The waiter even provided me with a pair of chopsticks for the Asia influenced tuna dish. The service is top notch.

During a recent trip to Whistler my sweetheart and I decided to check out Araxi. We had made our reservation at least a month in advance (eager diners that we are) and put a simple note in the comment section on Open Table stating that it was our anniversary. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a "Happy Anniversary" wish and, after a beautiful, lazy, multiple-course meal, we were treated to complimentary dessert with the same words scrawled across the plate in chocolate. Such a sweet surprise to have our special occasion remembered and recognized. We were seated in the wine room area which had just the right amount of romantic privacy without feeling secluded. The server was perfectly attentive and the food was melt-in-your-mouth delicious!

We went to Araxi to take advantage of their five courses for $33 deal. The food was outstanding, however the service left much to be desired. We were quick to order, and received our first course of soup quickly, however, the next four courses had way too much time in between. We spent a total of almost two hours in the restaurant, with about 20-30 minutes in between each course. The waitress stopped by often, but not with food. All in all, I would go back again, just be prepared to spend a lot of time there.
