AramiDelicious RamenThe place is great. I was very surprised to find this place in the neighborhood it's in. The door really stands out. The inside decor was great. Got seated really quickly. There is an area with a roof that is transparent, which would give you a really nice view of the sky while you're eating. The menu selection was good. Cold and hot appetizers available. Good selection of sushi and rolls. I came because I read some good ratings on their ramen. I ordered the Hokkaido ramen and it was great. The noodles were very buttery and the broth had a very good (average complexity) flavor.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden Gem!The sea trout is a must try - it was delicious! The brussel sprouts were also top notch! I highly recommend Arami. It's great for a date night or a night with a few friends.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprisingly authentic JapaneseSurprisingly authentic Japanese flavors. Outstanding service.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a winnerMadeline rocks! I just let her choose what I should eat that evening, and it was a great decision.
As always, friendly service starting with Carol seating us, and the food and vibe always meet or exceed my high expectations. There are probably a hundred sushi bars between my home and Arami, but I'll make the 30 minute drive for the Arami experience any time.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent quality JapaneseFirst trip to Chicago ... and Arami definitely stands out as a top favourite and a place to return for the next trip. Have been in the hotel and restaurant scene for a long time so am picky when it comes to food especially Asian. All the recommendations made by our server was fantastic. The special was lamb ... and it was delicious ... we ordered it twice. The togarashi seared tuna, maguro kana and the hamachi maguro ebi stand out only because we could not possibly order everything we originally ordered twice! We found the price very reasonable for the quality of the food.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMfantasticEverything was fantastic. Best sushi I have had in Chicago5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMArami is off the chartsOver the past few years we've taken out of town guests from all over (NYC, Austin, Sydney, San Diego, LA, DC) and the feedback has been unanimous = Arami is off the charts. Staff is awesome (extremely knowledgeable, fun, not pretentious), food is mind blowing and the menu is extensive enough to sustain addicts.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMfamily in townMy brother was in town visiting so I decided to try Arami as I'd heard good things. He had been to Japan a few times and I was curious if he was going to think the sushi at Arami was up to snuff. We all loved it! Tried some new things I have never seen anywhere else before and I'm looking forward to going back.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMBest sushi in the cityArami is outstanding! Certainly worth the trip from any neighborhood including the suburbs!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNever let you downThe staff at Arami are the most wonderful people in the restaurant business. The food is outstanding, always prepared and delivered with care. Every bite is a feast. We keep going back-- can't seem to get tired of it.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a Gem!It was our first visit to Arami, and now I'm kicking myself for not going there sooner. The food was fantastic and the service was upbeat and very friendly. It was clear that the staff like working together and it was nice to see how they supported each other with service. All in all great vibe.
We were also very grateful that Arami has a gluten-free menu which made it easy for us to know exactly what dishes were appropriate for our dietary restrictions.
Killer sake list too, and we loved the special house sake that Arami has brewed especially for them in Japan.
We plan to come back again and again.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMService was a little slow,Service was a little slow, but I was catching up with a family member, so I didn't mind so much. Had I been in a hurry, it would have been annoying. Every item I've tried on the menu in multiple visits to Arami has been delicious. Don't miss the uni shooters.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSecret hamachi - shhh!Delicious as always! Toro tartar bites and secret hamachi are must haves. The tofu robata was also very good and a much different flavor than expected. Highly recommend!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb sake menu and theirSuperb sake menu and their fish blew me away. All their maki were above average, as well, and our server made many excellent recommendations and had useful insights on what the restaurant had to offer. The one thing that really bothered me was the loud techno music--it doesn't add anything to the dining experience and really I think it detracts quite a bit. It doesn't have to be so noisy that you can't hear the people across from you or your server explaining the menu.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMArami never disappoints.Arami never disappoints. Gets it right each and every time.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMVery attentive staff, friendlyVery attentive staff, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and memorable. Will recommend to friends and family. Will definitely visit again.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server was the best ,Our server was the best , great recommendations
In food and sake and very attentive. Though
It was odd the restaurant was so empty.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMsoft sushi very delicious;asoft sushi very delicious;a little more edge is a minor criticism3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh sushi in spa settingThis was the best sushi we've had since moving to the Midwest from San Francisco over a year ago. Not a huge list of rolls but the few they offer are inventive and delicious (king crab w/ maguro). Mostly we stuck with sashimi and were not disappointed. Everything was very fresh. We also enjoyed the maitake from the robata section of the menu. Simple but delicious! The arami ramen was good but I wished I had eaten more sushi instead of filling up with noodles. The atmosphere is very airy and spa-like. Service was attentive but not disruptive. We will be back!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAramai is amazing! For me,Aramai is amazing! For me, I just found my favorite sushi to date in the Chicago area. One unique item was the maplewood smoked salmon... delicious! Even the "simple" rolls such as avocado came w/ a unique element such as toasted almonds. We tried 7 different rolls and there is not one we would not order again. The ramen noodles looked very tasty but we didn't have room for another bite. For dessert we had the fig, black sesame, chocolate chip ice cream. Amazingly unique and delicious!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMArami doesn't disappoint--Arami doesn't disappoint-- still the best and freshest; every bite counts.2/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGood vibe and great Japanese food!Don't judge it based on the front store view. There is a great space in the back and the environment is of great energetic vibe. The food is fantastic and the service very personalized. We liked it a lot.2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMHuge sushi menuEverything was so good. I loved the brussels sprouts special with squab sausage and pickled banana peppers most of all, but the sea trout, salmon sashimi special and grilled baby sepia were all very tasty as well. And the sesame fig gelato from black dog gelato was a great way to end the meal. I'm not a big sake fan, but they have some nice cocktails and Asian beers to choose from as well.1/18/2013 12:00:00 AMArami continues to be best-in-classArami continues to be best-in-class-- the best sushi restaurant in Chicago. It is more than just sushi, with Robata-grill items, and creative specials, including dessert. The fish is the freshest-- which is why they will run out of favorites on busy nights. But there is always something really good on the menu. The oyster preparation is outstanding, and the toro tartar bites delectable.12/1/2012 12:00:00 AM
