Best Restaurants in Wicker Park
I have been here a few times and
want to like the place. Unfortunately, long waits on orders combined with high prices (considering the service) makes this restaurant hard to recommend."

A restaurant needs great food for
a great dining experience but that alone doesn't assure one. Arami has great food, fantastic staff, excellent cocktails and a great vibe. It's a can't-miss spot."

We were in Chicago and needed to
drive to the United Center with our 12 year old son to see Queen and Adam Lambert (which, by the way, was an amazing concert). We looked online and the description of this restaurant seemed perfect. As soon as we opened the front door, we were immediately impressed. We were warmly welcomed, escorted past the sushi chefs and all of their wonderful raw material, and had the most amazing waitress -- friendly, efficient, and extremely knowledgeable. Did I say the food was good? YES.....AMAZING!!!! This restaurant was a great find, and we will go back again and again, even when we're not on our way to the United Center."

Everything about this place was
perfect, it's a hidden gem. From outside you'll never know it's such a great restaurant until you walk in. Service was great, 8 course meal was delicious. Will be back very soon to try the maki sushi rolls."
Dined on 6/30/2014
I've been here twice before and
each time I got ramen. They didn't have as much ramen on the menu as the previous 2 tiimes I was here, so I got sushi. The salmon sashimi is top quality and very fresh. If I ever craved amazing sashimi, I'll most likely be returning here."
Dined on 6/27/2014
Food, service and the sake list
are always on point & exciting! The only teeny tiny element that would boost the overall package is ambiance..lower lighting & more pronounced music. I'm not saying make it dark with loud music -- small tweaks to both would enhance the feel of the space and the experience. That said, even if there was no music and all the lights were on and bright, I'd STILL go to enjoy a fabulous meal and bottle of sake (maybe two!) ;-)"
Dined on 6/27/2014
Excellent food. Very nice
ambiance. Hard to locate because of lack of sign outside. The greeter can smile a little. She sounded a little rude. Definitely will go back"
Dined on 6/22/2014
We keep coming back-- the folks at
Arami never let you down. Always fresh, every bite delights."
Dined on 6/18/2014
A great dining experience.
Excellent sushi, great service, awesome"
Dined on 6/13/2014
I love Arami! I feel lucky to live
so close to such a fabulous Japanese restaurant. In fact, I often find myself going there every week. They offer consistently well-executed, ultra-flavorful food - not only fresher than fresh and beautifully presented sushi but also scrumptious other Japanese fare. Their ever changing list of specials are notable as well. Staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. The environment is peaceful and intimate. It feels like a mini get-away from the hustle and bustle of the city everytime I go there. I will be coming back (probably on a weekly basis ha!) again & again!"
Dined on 6/3/2014
Great food; sushi selections are
good and fish are notably fresh. However, it's a little on the pricey side."
Dined on 6/5/2014
After reading about Arami in the
Bon Appetite article naming the top 10 sushi restaurants in the USA, I just had to go there. It was worth the trip from Iowa City. I hope to make the trip again!"
Dined on 5/29/2014
Had dinner here on a Thursday
night. Laidback vibe but attentive service. Sat in the outside enclosed back area, comfortable but slightly less upscale than the inside. Sushi was excellent! Had two specials for the night, one with AmberJack and the other with Salmon. Both had great flavor and were not overpowered by sauces. Had a basic maki and an appetizer of Poke Trio, which was a good portion size and delicious. Had a couple of Nigiri to round out the meal, both were excellent."
Dined on 6/5/2014
I love Arami. Every time I go with
friends, we always have a great night. The staff is incredible, they are all really friendly and extremely helpful in choosing from the many menu options. I really don't like eating at places where the waiter/waitress can't tell you about the food on the menu, but our waitress was so knowledgeable on all of the menu items, she described them to a T! And the food is absolutely amazing! Very fresh, lots of flavors...don't forget to order the Maguro Gani, the King Crab wrapped with marinated Tuna, to die for!"
Dined on 5/31/2014
From the atmosphere to our server
to the food, Arami was a wonderful dining experience. My favorite sushi spot in my 6 years of living in Chicago and can't wait to come back!"
Dined on 5/24/2014
This restaurant is located in a
quite neighborhood and is easy to pass by without noticing. I found it on open table while looking for a sushi place and thought I would give it a try. I arrived around 9:15 PM and the place was packed. We had to wait over 20 minutes to be seated. The food was good and relatively creative. I would go again."
Dined on 5/23/2014
different menu than most places
I've seen. best dishes were the Ramen, brussel sprouts, and the specialty roll we had was amazing. "
Dined on 5/22/2014
Been here three times and all
times the best sushi I've ever had in Chicago. "
Dined on 5/20/2014
Everything was soo fresh and
tasty. We had three rolls to start off with between two people and then finished it off with a delicious ramen bowl. Then for dessert we had the homemade oatmeal cookies with cinnamon ice-cream, Raspberries and Raspberry puree. I appreciate they're recco to not use soy sauce which proves the quality. Our dinner was over before we knew it. Can't go wrong. "
Dined on 5/11/2014
What a find! (fyi no sign on the
door). Renovated brownstone interior in a hip and contemporary style with friendly and efficient staff. Great ambience, not too noisy, you easily hear each other at the table. And the food was just fantastic, perfect plates for sharing with friends (or not ;-)). Fresh sushi and delicious robata for meat lovers. Definitely try the Toro Tartar bite and Uni Shooter. "
Dined on 5/9/2014
Uni Shooter appetizers were
absolutely amazing! Very adorable, fun environment with great service. Tables were a bit close, but the space was smaller than a typical restaurant. Noise level varied, depending on party sizes & amount of diners present. Overall food was fantastic; across the entire menu. Definitely plan on returning!"
Dined on 5/7/2014
The foods were not fresh at all!
Sushi are lack of favors! Sashimi tasted extremely bad!! The price should be worth for something fresh! It only has the nice presentation but not the quality of foods. I saw many good comments, so I made a try. Never return and do not recommend at all! "
Dined on 5/7/2014
I highly recommend the trio.
They are really good! "
Dined on 5/6/2014
I enjoy everything I have at
Arami. The only negative is that the fish is sliced a lot thinner for nigiri, sashimi and rolls than other reputable sushi places in the city and its the same price if not higher. "
Dined on 5/3/2014
They were packed and appeared
understaffed with spotty service, but the food was incredible. "
Dined on 5/1/2014
Can't say enough about each dish
that arrived. We tried about 8 or 9 dishes (usually portions of 2) and everything was fantastic. "
Dined on 5/1/2014
Arami is my favorite Japanese
restaurant in Chicago. Both hot and cold plates are incredible. Fish is amazing quality and the chef sends out fun tasty treats if it's not too busy. Never could complain!"
Dined on 6/7/2013
Arami was recommended to me as
being the best sushi restaurant in the world. This came from a sushi eater who has eaten sushi in Korea, Japan, Austrailia, among other countries. I have to agree that it's the best sushi I've ever had. So full of flavor. Every bite was unbelievable. I can't sit to go back. If you like sushi, you need to visit Arami. The wait staff was so patient, friendly, and helpful. An all around solid experience. "
Dined on 4/26/2014
This place is worth every penny.
Every dish has unique flavors & was prepared perfectly. Highly recommend trying this entree - Hamachi Poke."
Dined on 12/13/2013
If you like high quality fresh
sushi (only way you should accept it) go to Arami!!! Fantastic specialty roles - so many creative options. Also either start with brussel sprout salad and finish with a single scoop if there amazing ice cream. One scoop is enough for two to share and get more than a taste. Go now!!!"
Dined on 4/25/2014
The sushi is not so much better to
justify the prices. I have no problem spending the money as long as I am getting value, and I was not getting value at Arami. Sorry, it's the truth. Sushi is smaller and the quality and taste are not enough to get value. "
Dined on 4/18/2014
A great find! Our Waitress was
extremely helpful at helping us select the perfect sushi pairings and getting us to try new things!!!"
Dined on 4/19/2014
Our favorite dishes were the
Double Sake and Ebi Tempura Asparagus, which were fresh and gone quickly when it arrived at the table."
Dined on 4/19/2014
You won't find your california or
dragon roll here. Best if you have a true appreciation for raw fish and no fancy sauces. Decor is excellent, great for a romantic date or groups."
Dined on 4/10/2014
Highly Recommended. With sake our
bill was $75 pp."
Dined on 4/8/2014
This is my favorite sushi in the
city. Their rice alone is worth the visit. The servers will give generous help if asked to describe, and when we were not sure about what saki to order our server brought us 3 to taste based on our conversation. She also did well at balancing the keeping us looked after with letting us talk. The place is expensive, but for a splurge I believe it is worth it."
Dined on 4/5/2014
The sushi here is always fresh and
succulent. Closest thing to Tokyo in Chicago. Love the Omakase. Yellowtail sashimi is heavenly. Worth the trek to the west side. Nothing commercial about this place. Small and subdued. Service is always great."
Dined on 4/4/2014
We met close friends and avid
sushi lovers at Arami on a Friday night. It's very pleasant but the tables are close and the noise is vigorous. We were an engaged in our conversation as others however, and not attentive to the great menu. So we asked our lovely server to guide our selections throughout and her choices were all amazing. The sashimi was my favorite, each impeccably fresh. My one request was the Sake Garlic, delectable slices of salmon heaven! We enjoyed some wine, many cups of ginger tea and even some Moshi for dessert, and the check at the end of many servings and a delicious meal was moderate...Arami is a favorite...Don't change a thing!"
Dined on 4/4/2014
We found this little place and
were very impressed by the service and excellent food. The presentation was outstanding and tasted delicious! The service was notable as every person was so friendly and greeted you and said good bye as we walked in and out of the restaurant. Highly recommended!"
Dined on 3/29/2014
excellent food and service. Gotta
try it. This will become our secret place for Japanese"
