For main courses, recently I've had great short ribs, wonderful salmon and the steak frites is not to be missed. Linger at the table with those last drops of wine and enjoy the vibe. Oh, and a side of Brussels sprouts is a must."

Our waiter was very good (and he did not announce his name, thankfully) and professional. I had the sea bass, which was delicious, and my husband had a very good pork chop. Dessert was a very yummy Tarte Tatin!"

  • "Visited during DineOut Boston week and didn't even use the DineOut menu because everything looked so good (with the exception of choosing one of the specialty menu items as an appetizer which they graciously did for us). Food was delicious (steak frites and steak au poivre), salads were wonderful and fresh, cocktails were interesting, and the service was impeccable. (The server kept my husband's beer on ice like a nice bottle of white wine so it wouldn't get warm!) No rush, great desert recommendations (the bread pudding was amazing) and overall, lovely ambiance."

  • "Been several times for brunch but this was our first dinner foray. I'm a huge fan of the Aquitaine Group's restaurants and this lived up to all my expectations. Four of us ordered a combo of the restaurant week and regular menu items, and they are the only restaurant I've been to that actually put some quality choices on the restaurant week menu (still cheaper, less exciting selections but so much better than the token "chicken/beef, fish, veggie pasta" options so many restaurants give). Wonderful service, drinks, and delicious food. They are firmly entrenched as one of the best collection of restaurants in they city."

However, if the idea was to wow me during restaurant week to come back, that didn't happen. The mushroom soup was outstanding. My gnocci entre was eh. My chocolate dessert was ok. I've heard great things and will definitely go again and try other items on their regular menu."

  • "We have eaten at Aquitane on Tremont St for dinner previously. Always yummy! We were here for Restaurant Week for lunch. I ate off of the regular menu. I had the luncheon mussells for $12.95. They were fabuous! Our attentive server brought bread for the sauce. My spouse had one of the specials. He had a wonderful carrot salad and pork loin for $15. If he wanted to add dessert it would have been $22. We found out that they had a Sunday brunch which we did not know about. We also found about other restaurants under their management. We were both pleased with our great meal and resolved to come back for lunch and /or brunch in the future."

  • "We started with mussels, in which we dipped the hot, crusty bread. Mussels were in a light cream sauce, so the dipping was a second treat. I had a pan fried figs and Brussels sprouts cooked in bacon. Both were excellent. The other two parties also enjoyed their dishes, though I thought the chicken was no comparison to the fish. Great, but a little pricey wine by the glass. Overall a great experience!"

I have been to the one of their other restaurants in Dedham and while it was good, it doesn't have the charm of the South End location. The drink list was creative and delicious. The wine list had great choices and a good price point. The food was spectacular with the moules frites being notable in addition to the sea bass and of course the steak frites. We will be back again."

The service was attentive, friendly, and very knowledgeable on the wine list. She made great recommendations for dinner and appetizers, as well. The timing of the food was perfect and everything was delicious from the amuse bouche to the complimentary birthday cake. I highly recommend Aquitaine and look forward to visiting again soon."

  • "The interior is nice and cozy with booths on one side and tables on the other. The walls are covered in great prints that really capture the quaint euro feel I think they're going for. I ordered the Duck Hash and I honestly had trouble finding any duck, so I called our waitress Liz over to make sure it was in fact the duck hash. She was incredibly friendly and helpful about the whole matter, she assured me it was the duck hash just before offering me something else. Even though i told her I was perfectly fine she brought out another smaller portion with amazingly juice duck piled on top. It was like night and day. Good food, great ambiance, exceptional service."

I order the Moules Frites and the Salad du Marche - both of which were delicious, especially the dressing for the salad. The serving of the mussels was very generous, and the fries were even better with the basil aioli. Amazing. The service was also perfect. Our party of three had a cozy semi circle table in the back with a lovely view of Boston. My favorite Aquitaine in town!"

  • "I finally got a hard-to-get reservation at Aquitaine on a recent week-end trip to Boston. We were a party of five, seated in a comfortable booth at the front of the restaurant. Food lives up to the hype. I had the classic steak frites and couldn't have been happier. Wait staff was very attentive and friendly. It's an upscale restaurant serving wonderful French food, but it doesn't take itself too seriously. It's not stuffy--far from it. Wine list is fairly extensive and priced appropriately. Just remember, it's a relatively small place, so make reservations well in advance. You'll be glad you did."

  • "We go to Aquitaine in the South End for special occasions and when we are in the area. The food is always exquisite, the service impeccable. Every item is always cooked perfectly and presented in their special way. My only suggestion is that they occasionally add something new to the dessert menu."
