Getting there

  • Cross Street: Webster St
  • Public Transit: Red/Brown/Purple lines located three blocks west of restaurant. Local buses available as well, notably the 8, 11, and 74.
  • Parking: Street Parking
  • Parking Details: Metered parking is available on the streets immediately in front of the restaurant. On Webster and Larrabee on the SIDES of the street bordering Oz Park, parking is meter free. Lincoln Ave the block East of Webster is also meter free.

    The parking garage for Children's Memorial Hospital located two blocks West of the restaurant on Lincoln Ave is available for a fee.

Aquitaine is a comfortable bistro located in Lincoln Park focusing on European influenced fare, perfect for intimate dinners or small get-togethers. First class desserts are provided by the Vanille Patisserie.

The last Tuesday of every month Chef Willoughby teams up with one of our wine vendors to present a five-course tasting menu with wine pairings. Join us for this fun opportunity to explore something new together each month!

  • "Typical french food, like duck breast and creme brulee done very well. The potato leek soup was rich and flavorful. The salmon entree had a very nice sweet glaze crust and was done to a perfect medium rare. The duck breast was solid. The creme brulee was nice and light with fresh, ripe strawberries on top. It was served while the caramelized top was still warm. The multi-layer cake was rich and light at the same time and had a nice cookie base. Service was very friendly."

Everything fits on the menu: tastes, combinations, textures (I've been there 4 times so far, never repeating a dish, and everything has been excellent). Service is quick and professional, but not that quick so one feels rushed. Ambiance does not distract from the food and quiet conversation - a gem!"

  • "The food and service were wonderful. Server was friendly, attentive and knowledegable about both the menu and wine list. She made some great suggestions for our first visit. The food was perfectly cooked. We had the fennel dusted dusted scallops with risotto to start. Definetly enough for 2 to share. The Salmon entree was awesome. It had a great balnce of flavors and was acompanied by kale and roasted mushrooms that were the perfect consistency. All flavors were simple and elegant. Portion sizes are just right and the prices are reasonable for the quality. Enjoyed not being sutffed with bread before the entrees. It was a refreshing change. Will definelty be back. It is worth the drive from the suburbs."

We ordered from the fixed-price menu, which had a nice selection. The cocktails are also good and our waitress picked a perfect wine pairing for me with the duck I ordered. Everything was perfect."

  • "Restaurant was FREEZING. Had to wear my coat during dinner. Not the ambience I was going for with a romantic French dinner. Dinner was well presented, but very basic and boring. Veggie tart was 98% egg and a little cheese. The entire tart had ONE dried tomato and what seemed to be the equivalent of one spear of asparagus cut up. Pretty disappointing. Expected to be overly full from a 3 course meal, but I literally went home and ate more. Sad, I wanted to love the night."

  • "Cute french bistro-type restaurant. Food was very good and service was friendly. We had a Groupon gift for the 3 course prix-fixe, but I think the prices were decent. Our only real complaint is that there was a strange frigid draft that would sweep through the restaurant every so often (and not when the front door was opened). So, it could have been just a tad warmer in there. Other than that, we'd totally go back."

  • "Very intimate setting and quiet on a weekday, it was perfect to actually hear well your friends at the table if this is what you are looking for. Older crowd. French inspired food, some great specials and desserts. A bit of a hit or miss but good overall. Service was okay, a tad too friendly/home style, could have been more formal. We had a groupon for a three course meal and they definitely did not "go cheap" on the set menu. Pleasantly surprised. Would recommend."

The cocktails we tried were really nice. I had gnocchi with lobster that were good and the filet mignon which was spectacular. Highly recommended."

  • "My husband and I went there to celebrate his birthday. We had a Groupon and sometimes I feel like we are treated differently at the restaurant then. However, even tho' there was a different menu for the Groupon, we had wonderful food (and a nice choice of food), great service, a lovely wine and overall a great evening. I had duck and it was one of the best duck I have ever had in a restaurant, including some very fancy establishments. The evening's special wine was quite good. The dessert was very good too. I had been there before, but it was a first for my husband. We will be back."

Service was very good - staff is friendly. Would consider trying again for a lunch or dinner menu, but probably would not return for a Sunday brunch."

  • "Aquitaine is a little classy hidden gem. The excellent service service was beaten only by the quality of the food. My date and I both had the salmon which was absolutely to die for. It was little on the expensive side and a bit of a small portion but it was really worth the price, I'd highly recommend it. Also check out the cocktails- they're simple but interesting, and are really quite fine tuned. My date had a 'Sweet Al' and I had a 'Death in the Afternoon' and both were great. All around a great experience!"

  • "For a French restaurant the food was very blan, uninspired and uneventful. We had the macaroni and duck & gnocchi for an appetizer, I had potatoe leak soup which was the saddest excuse for a cup of warm milk I ever tasted. We both had the braised pork which was just under decent in my book. Our desserts were pretty good which leads me to believe that they are not made there in the restaurant. I should have known better since they were one of the very few restaurants with prime time seating available on valentines day. Stay home, order a pizza and watch a movie instead of blowing your money on the poor food at this place."

  • "I had a great experience at Aquitaine during Restaurant Week and will definitely go back. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful, adding to the experience. I'd recommend the blueberry sage cocktail--interesting mix of flavors. And the amber cake was DIVINE! I would go back just for the dessert. Also recommend the salmon entree. My friend had the duck entree with celery root mash and mussels appetizer, which she thought were delightful. All-around great place! The place was surprisingly filled for a snowy and cold weeknight."

  • "I booked a huge party of 14 for my birthday. They were very accomodating and friendly. The server (Amber) was great and attentive to all of our needs. Our food was made well and nobody had any complaints. I had the trout as an entree and it came with spinach and mashed potatoes. The fish was well seared and I was definitely part of the clean plate club that night. I had the amber cake for dessert, and though I wished I hadn't eaten all of that sugar, I ate all of that too! Overall a great experience with French cuisine. I would definitely recommend it to other people."

  • "I tried Aquitaine during Restaurant Week and, the overall experience was lackluster. The restaurant itself is very charming, but the service was slow, and the food was (for lack of a better word) lazy. After waiting quite a while to order, I had the braised pork shoulder. Normally, this ought to be tender enough to cut with a fork. In this case, I struggled to cut it even with my knife. And in addition to being unpleasantly tough, it was wholly unseasoned. Both the pork and the vegetables were terribly bland; I guess the flavor was meant to come from the sauce, which wasn't bad, but there was so little of it that it didn't really redeem the plate. I wanted to like it, given how close and cute it is, but I just can't recommend it."

  • "A small, intimate restaurant that reminded me of one of the hidden gems in Paris. Familiar menu items prepared with a delicious twist. Every aspect of the meal was fantastic; from the delectable food to the excellent service. Had the duck breast, which was perfectly prepared, and the succulent mussels in a saffron cream broth. Their desserts, several of which come from the Vanille patisserie, are to die for! All in all, a delightful dining experience."

  • "Three friends and I had a fantastic dinner Thursday nite. Without doubt, we all agreed it was one of THE best meals we had ever had and would wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone. The restaurant is quite small, which was great. Despite the fact that it was crowded, we were able to have conversations at our table without having to strain to hear each other. We took advantage of Restaurant Week and had the 3 course prix fixe menu. By the end of dinner, all of us had cleaned our plates!"

  • "I went here for restaurant week and was not disappointed. The appetizers were very large and my dining companion thought the mussels were the best she has ever had. The duck was fantastic. The amber cake was great, but the creme brulee was amazing. The only downside was that our table was near the window during Chibera. While there was a electric fireplace, it was in front of another table so our feet were freezing!"

Multiple choices for each course and make sure to save room for desert. No busboys because it so small so it can take a minute to get your servers attention for small things when they are busy, but very attentive to the big things."

  • "Upon arrival, there was nobody to greet us our check our reservation; we were generally ignored. Three servers were working the entire restaurant and there was no apparent system to their method of working. Although menus were delivered promptly, there was general confusion, delay and repetition about asking us for drinks. We were never offered bread (other tables were) and there was even a delay in being served water. We were not told all the specials; we know this because adjacent tables subsequently were. The food was unattractively presented and was unimiginative and bland. I did not complete my entree, which is unusual. I did not find anything about Aquitaine to recommend it and I do not plan on going back."
