  • "We were at Aquitaine to celebrate a birthday and had a reservation for 4, celebrating a birthday. The table had Happy Birthday confetti on it on our arrival, a very nice touch! The food was absolutely delicious, we had great choices for brunch including several different cocktails. We will definitely come back to Aquitaine Bis!"

  • "We come here often for birthdays, mother's day, etc. The food is always reliably excellent, varied menu, great drinks, wonderful service. Great bread. Love that the noise level is so that we can hear each other at the table. We have always had wonderful service."

  • "Unfortunately, Aquitaine was not as good I remember from the last time I was in Boston. The Eggs Benedict was too lemony and not much taste."

  • "I had been to the Boston location for drinks before but never had the food; what a mistake! This will be my go to place for fine French dining! It took us nearly 20 minute to decide what we wanted to eat because everything sounded so good!"

  • "If you like a bit of French food then this is the place for you to lunch. Aquitane continues to be one of my favorite places."

  • "the waitress was quite busy, but when she finally got to us(after taking orders from 2 other tables who arrived after us) she was very knowledgeable and helpful. I had the daily special duck confit with cranberry & Farrell. it sounded different than it was. excellent. My husband had the veal schnitzel. a little too breaded for his taste, but I liked the flavor. Choc. muse for dessert was heavenly."

  • "One person is retiring at the end of the academic year and moving to Florida. Another announced that she too was moving late summer - husband was recently tendered an offer letter-and that we were the first to know all the news. Saturday's brunch included two friends from the office-although we have each moved within the company, we remain friendly to this day. We have vacationed together; attended baptisms, bris, namings, first communions and confirmations; We take care of each other and their entire family as if they were our own-well, they are family. You simply can not go wrong here - they have something for everyone and they turned what was a melancholy brunch (saying goodbye sucks) into an afternoon of loving memories."

  • "We enjoyed our brunch on Mother's Day, food was very good and service excellent. Enjoyed the duck hash & eggs, the Nicoise salad especially. Only complaint was there was no bread available because it was brunch (?) Server was pleasant and prompt."

  • "I went for Mother's Day brunch, my family and I each got $12 brunch special, the restaurant was way cheaper than I expected, especially for the great food, service and ambience. "

  • "Visited Aquitaine Bistro in Chestnut Hill for Mother's Day. It was quite busy, and we waited about 10 minutes for our reservation. The menu was varied. I ordered an omelet, and it was outstanding."

  • "Aquitaine consistently delivers a nice dining experience. Service is prompt, courteous and wait staff well trained. Food is well prepared and they have choices in moderately priced bottles of wine, which shows respect for the customer. "

  • "We had a wonderful evening out. The food was excellent, from the delicious salads to the great appetizers all the way to the dinners and the side dishes. Even the bread and cheese puffs to start the meal were fantastic. Our waiter was new, but was very eager to please and did a great job. Overall we had an excellent night. "

  • "My wife and I had an anniversary dinner at Aquitaine Bis and were very pleased with both the food and the service. It is, however, expensive and although we certainly would go there again it may be a while. We were seated promptly at an 6:00 p.m. but as the restaurant filled it became quite noisy. I wouldn't suggest it for a first date if a low level conversation is expected. Overall we really enjoyed the experience. It was easy to find and to park. "

  • "Last month we traveled to Paris and through the Champagne region and into the Voges mountains. The experiences we had there were faithfully replicated at Aquitaine, and since we were meeting friends to make recommendations for their upcoming trip to Paris, it was a perfect place. Our servers did an excellent job, and the food was all very delicious. I especially enjoyed the Kale Salad and the Scallops. "

  • "Aquataine consistently delivers great food, and excellent service. The staff are always professional and they do not hover or overservice. The food is exceptional. Just the right amount, not too salty or smothered in sauce. The presentation is appealing. It is a neighborhood gem. The prices are fair and the value is exceptional. Consistenly very good."

  • "This is one of the great restaurants of Chestnut Hill with its charming French menu and attentive service. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a wonderful night out."

  • "Nothing stood out of our three meals. The wait staff was too busy to handle the number of people in the restaurant and service was slow. Water was never refilled, the food was luke warm, the hollandaise was too thick, the hash brown potatoes were soft and unappealing. The bloody mary was loaded with tabasco. We will not come again. The booth was uncomfortable even for 3 people. Just too small with two people (and we are not large) on one side."

  • "This restaurant is a favorite of ours. It has the flavor of a true French bistro where you may be seated very close to your neighbors, but you feel that an intimate space is created around you. The food is delicious, and the portions are just right. The kitchen is very accommodating and creative. My husband is vegan, and we always are able to arrange a flavorful complete meal for him from the sides and salads on the menu. The wine list is small, but the selections are careful and interesting."

  • "We took friends out to Aquitane Bis to celebrate a special occasion. The restaurant did not disappoint. The fries with truffle aioli were magnificent (we shared them as an appetizer). Everyone had a different salad and we each thought ours was wonderful. I had the entree special- lamb chops in a pistachio-fig crust. Tender and DELICIOUS! I would definitely recommend this restaurant."

  • "The food here is good, as well as the bar. But, the service is only friendly if you are a recognized regular. We come here maybe once every other month, so this is a trend we have notice: we must wait for blase service while others are greeted by name with considerable warmth and given a much higher standard of service. If suppose this is fine for some, but I think this may be my last visit -- I do not care to be treated like a second class citizen when I can get food that is just as good and warmer service at other establishments."

  • "this was a second visit, and first was good, so i was reluctant to post this. but, i feel that my meal failed both from the standpoint of description and execution. avoid the so-called sole meuniere. it has no resemblance to the classic french dish, instead being a small piece of over-cooked fried flat fish of some kind. i would have disappointed with it had it come out of a food truck as part of an advertised fish and chips. in defense of the overall professionalism of the group, had i returned the dish i am sure i would have had the situation cleaned up immediately. unfortunately, in a group that is not always possible, and still the issue of the menu just being wildly off base would still be there. other diners at my table were happy."

  • "We went to Aquitaine for the first time and loved it. It's decor is French bistro and everything was perfect--excellent food and excellent staff. We had drinks instead of wine. It was just a quick weeknight dinner, but I've been telling friends it was lovely and we'll certainly be back."

  • "We've always liked our meals here and choose from the specials and regular menu. This last visit,t two of us had the sea bass special, one had the prime ribs and the 4th had the schnitzel. We all liked our meal. The menu hasn't changed much, I think, over the years, but there appears to be something for everyone. The service staff was fine on this busy Saturday night, prompt and nice. We had requested a quiet spot for catching up and the request was honored. It was a full house. We appreciate having the bar available for friends who get there early. With all the newer places in the area, we still think Bis is a gem. Thanks."

  • "If not sure how to impress your date this is a perfect place. Everything is great here, yet not so great that the meal or the place will takeover the night. The lamb was almost perfect and presentation was nice. One place where two items on the menu that are always reliable: steak and duck. We went with the duck and, again, almost perfect! Their classic onion soup was excellent and tuna tartar was very fresh. We had profiteroles for desert and they were basically ice cream, but the "shell" was the tastiest part. The place has a good wine list, we just ordered cocktails - very good. To sum it all up, there are better French restaurants in Boston but this is my favorite French bistro."

  • "The food was delicious. We both had the lamb shank and it was amazing. I do think they use a lot of salt but most restaurants do. Very nice sangria. The service was good but not as good as you would expect here. Wasn't a match for the level of food quality. The waitress didn't announce the specials. Her attitude and manners were just a bit too casual."

  • "We were disappointed with the portions and for a Frennch restaurant they weren't very tasty. No one looked happy to be working there!"

  • "It was restaurant week and they had a menu for this. My mom and boyfriend ordered the bone marrow as the first dish from the restaurant week menu but when the appetizer came, there was no marrow (only bone). My farro and gnochi were good but I was not a fan of the creme brule. Our experience was average and prices did not match the food quality. A little overpriced and not too great."
