The ambience and atmosphere was great. The views of the river were very good if you sit at a window table. I was there for restaurant week and thought they would be trying to impress, but I was not impressed. They prepared high class food to a chain restaurant level. Tried both options for restaurant week and there was nothing special about either.

I needed a special spot for a romantic dinner, but we'd "done" all the usual fancy restaurants downtown. What a GREAT idea AquaStar was! not only was it not overly crowded and noisy, but it was serene and we were able to really take our time and enjoy all three courses at a slower pace. The service was exceptional! Ask for Cara if you go - she's wonderful: educated about the menu, the fresh local ingredients used, and she made thoughtful suggestions throughout the meal. Taking a walk down to the waters edge after dinner was her idea - which turned out to be a great one.

Food was great which made up for somewhat slower pace of service. But our wait person was pleasant and friendly. Even went the extra mile to find a special bar request. Would suggest however to make a reservation on opentable and be sure to request a "a table next to the window". I did not do that and we were set up further back and up a level.

The restaurant is lovely and the view of the Savannah river front is beautiful. The food is very good and the service is also. The food came out a little slow and they comped our martinis even though we didn't complain about the wait nor ask for compensation.

Both appetizers very good. Shrimp dish not what either of us who ordered it imagined.Description misleading. Presentation was a hodge-podge of toppings over grilled shrimp on a bed of yams. Okay, but nothing I would have knowingly ordered. Short rib choice excellent. Creme brulet excellent. Other dessert, a berry & ice cream offering was, again, poorly described on the menu & not the "light" choice imagined - almond brittle cover over melted ice cream with a meager portion of warm berries. Sir Michael left big shoes to fill. Encourage current chef to create special but not "weird" offerings & make descriptions more understandable. FYI, I dine out often & am an excellent gourmate cook, & consider my food knowledge well above average.

Although we have had dinner here before, this is our first brunch experience at Aqua Star. Unfortunately, while service is supposed to begin at 11:30, staff was nowhere near ready at that time. Our 11:45 reservation was honored 15 minutes later. Fortunately, it was worth the wait. I have never seen such a wide variety of food offered at brunch, and our group thoroughly enjoyed it. The jazz ensemble added a nice, unobtrusive touch which did not interfere with conversation. Bread choices were somewhat limited, and I would have liked to have seen a wider array of fruit. But everything we ate was well-prepared and tasty.

Sea bass is one of my favorite fish to splurg on for a special occasion. My seabass that night was not fresh. For $38 I expect fresh seabass. The menu stated that parmesan risotto came with the entree and it didn't come out that way and then she brought me a side of risotto that was thick and gummy. This restaurant was nice inside but it didn't have the polish or service that i expected it to have for the price. i would not recommend this restaurant.

You'd get better service at a McDonalds or Wendys but this is pretty much the only restaurant on the island. So if you're hungry, plan ahead to take the ferry to River Street. From sitting down to getting our food the wait was 50 minutes (I know because my husband had to leave before eating his lunch). The waitresses are just lazy - they don't make eye contact so you end up having to walk up to them or yell as they walk by - which we did after being ignored 3 times. We were finally able to ask the waitress for waters and that took 20 minutes. There was also lipstick on my grandfathers water glass and our medium hamburger came back rare. All points that the waitress argued with us over.

I discovered that this brunch was rated #1 in Savannah according to the Visitors and Convention Bureau. Everything was excellent - food, table location, service, ambience and I would definitely go again. However, I printed out the page from the website that rated the brunch #1 and the price was $39.95. When we received the bill, the price was $42.00 so I politely asked our server who was great about it. She said she would send the Manager over. The Manager came and I politely informed her that it was not that I couldn't pay the $42 but that the price was $39.95 and I gave her the printout. She stated the $42 was incorrect and although she was professional, she did nothing to explain the difference besides the current price being correct.

Restaurant had received great reviews and so we decided to try it on a Sunday night while in Savannah. To make a reservation, the restaurant had required a credit card number--so we expected a sold out venue; instead we were one of only 4 tables at Aqua Star. Our waitress was wonderful--excellent service and the She Crab soup was outstanding. The main course was a disappointment; I wanted to try the "house special, winner of xyz awards"; sorry about my luck--a large wedding party the night before apparently ate all the scallops in Southern Georgia! Instead I had the sword fish, which was greasy (not grilled) and my wife had the grouper, which was over cooked. Very disappointing.

I have visited savannah twice and have eaten Sunday brunch here both times! It has always been well worth the exorbitant prices. I will say come hungry!! There are many options and you will want to eat your money's worth! Personally I like the French toast best. I have two reason for knocking it down to 4 stars. I have had a better brunch elsewhere. This one covers all the bases and is very standard and what you would expect. The one I enjoy more is a little more eclectic and a different more foodie brunch. Secondly both times I have been seated within 10 feet of the live jazz music making is a little hard to converse. Don't get me wrong I love the music, I would just like to sit a little further away. Overall a must visit!

Went to see Jeremy Davis and the Equinox. The band was great and also had dinner there. I did not know until we arrived that it a 3 course dinner at 35.00 with only the selection listed no other offers or options. The salad was served timely with as much bread you wanted, which was good, because the main course was very slow coming out. I did not time it but I would say it was at least 40 min to an hour. It had listed Spinach but received roasted vegetables. The steak and shrimp was delicious and so was the dessert. The waitress was very attentive. I will go again.

The food was outstanding and I would highly recommend especially for a special occasion. The service was very slow and the hostess was not friendly at all. When we arrived for our reservation at 12:00 noon, she said they were still seating folks from 11:30 a.m. Then 5 minutes later she said they would start the 12 noon and we had to go back up and go through the whole thing again...that is not first class at all. There also did not seem to be enough servers to clear the tables...we would get up for another plate and our dirty plates would still be at the table...in restaurants with impeccable service that would not happen.

The menu on-line is not the menu at the restaurant. And there are items on the menu at the restaurant that are no longer available. The website shows linen table cloths but there really are none. The food was way too salty. I chose this restaurant based on their website. However, the bourbon blackened rub strip steak is not on the actual menu neither is the New York cheesecake and the cheese plate is no longer available. I wanted an elegant environment. I like linen table cloths. We ate on plain wooden tables. The spinach dip was like licking a salt block. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked but topped with cream from the same salt block. The praline cheesecake was just ok. People at the next table complained about the salty food too.

Party of 4, food was excellent. My choice, filet and the others in my party enjoyed the seafood and one breakfast diner. I've never had a bad experience on Sunday brunches whether for a holiday or just a Sunday. I'm allergic to all fish and seafood and can dine without worry here. It was crowded but they handled it well. I just need to remember to reserve a window or bottom floor seat as the stairs were difficult for my parents.
