Diner Reviews
  • "Food was very good, as were the prices. Service excellent. A bit of a wait for our table (reservations for 10) but worth it. Staff were excellent and accommodating. Had a cake delivered from a local bakery and the staff went along with the surprise. Highly recommend!"

  • "Always love this place! Must go at sunset and request a table near the window!! If it's nice outside, you can eat outside and watch the sunset!! Service is impeccable!"

  • "A restaurant at the beach with a name like Aqua you would think there would be a lot of fish dishes. Not here, so we were disappointed in the options. Meal was fine, nothing special. Enjoyed the live music during the meal."

  • "Perfect food, even though we went on a super busy Christmas Eve. Intelligent and personable service and they were willing to modify dishes to our taste. This is a gem on the Outer Banks."

  • "My husband and I were on a short long-weekend vacation to the OBX over Valentines Day and chose Aqua as the place to have our Valentines Day dinner. We've dined at Aqua many times and it is one of our local favorites in Duck, NC. The special menu was awesome, with three courses and three choices for each course. This night the food was simply outstanding - first course for Brian was a warm beet soup, for me the warm brie stuffed with spinach and sundried tomatoes, main course for Brian was rib eye with stilton mashed potatoes, for me salmon with spinach and wheat berries. Dessert was super yummy...flourless chocolate torte with a glass of champagne. The candle-lit room and warm murmur of the other guests created a perfect setting."

  • "We had the balsamic glazed salmon from the Valentine's Day Menu, which was outstanding. Service was great, and I loved the flourless chocolate torte. One of the best dinners I've had in recent memory. The only downside was that the restaurant was full, and very noisy -- background was so loud that conversation was difficult."

  • "Aqua is a longtime favorite of ours, but we have recently been disappointed with the loss of sushi options and the prices that seem to be on the rise. We decided to give it another try to celebrate NYE, and we were pleasantly surprised. The service was wonderful and even included a complimentary glass of champagne. My husband and I had the salmon and scallop specials, and both were outstanding. The drinks were delicious as well. Although we still miss the sushi, we were reminded what a great restaurant Aqua can be."

  • "All the clichés: mouth-watering food, beautiful view of the water, great service, quiet but vibrant atmosphere."

  • "We have been to Aqua on many occasions, this time for Burger Night. The burgers were outstanding from the Black and Bleu to the custom burger made for my wife with cheddar and jalapeño. Shelly the hostess is full of energy and makes you feel like you are the only diners for the evening. With a great wine selection and tremendous regular menu, we will be back for sure."

  • "There is always a view in here. The food is the only thing that distracts from it. Great food wine and a great time"

  • "We enjoyed a lovely pre OBX marathon dinner here. Shrimp with linguine and pancetta, crab cakes and duck breast!"

  • "Love the ambience, food & views. We have eaten here during both visits we've made to OBX. Wish outdoor seating was more comfortable. Picnic tables take away from the otherwise lovely experience."

  • "This restaurant has some of the best cocktails I have ever had. Hard to pick a favorite. The Mochatini after dinner is a winner. No dessert needed. The view is spectacular and the ambience is friendly and relaxing. Fish here is cooked perfectly-not overdone."

  • "Have never had a bad or an iffy meal here. Beautiful spot. Fresh food. Not over-fussy. It's my favorite in OBX--wish we had a clone in NYC."

  • "a beautiful spot with some of the best food we had during our stay on the Outer Banks - we were there for lunch - did not have dinner there, but would definitely go back"

  • "We had a very nice evening with two other couples celebrating two anniversaries. Very attentive service and she was also tolerant of the distractions from our own table as there was a great deal of competetive conversation. She handled our timing request and kept the table well pointed up at all times. We brought our own wine and the corkage fee was very reasonable and accomodating even though they have a nice wine cellar of their own. Food was fresh and well prepared. Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer is a must! Had a hard time following Features for the evening and it would be nice if they could leave a printed version with table for reference after the server provided her well rehearsed verbal presentation."

  • "On vacation, we went through a few websites of "better" restaurants, and based on the website, we decided to try Aqua. It was not what we expected. The food which appeared to us on their website, including representation, was not on their menu. The food was okay, creamy, cheesy. If you enjoy that, it would be a great place. We are foodies, so as much as we tried to like it, it was not what we expected. But it was not bad."
