Diner Reviews
  • "My husband and I had a great dining experience at Aqua by El Gaucho. It was our first time at the restaurant, but will not be our last. Great service, wonderful staff and excellent food."

  • "My friend and I had a really nice evening at Aqua. We went for Seattle Restaurant Week, and all three courses were delicious. The staff were very friendly, although our server was a tad on the snooty side (but attentive). It was nice to see that they still have a pianist, as the Waterfront Seafood Grill had. The prices seem high, but SRW made it very affordable."

  • "Went to aqua for a special night for me and my girlfriend. Never been here before. Happened to be Seattle restaurant week and had a great menu for a reduced price. Had the clam pesto pasta. Great choice. Also, the if cream sandwich made of salted Carmel ice cream between two chocolate chip cookies.... Sweet baby Jesus that was phenomenal!"

  • "There aren't many restaurants that I would put in the phenomenal category but Aqua is certainly one of them. Everything from the impeccable service to the amazing food, this place never disappoints. I brought clients from out of town and they were completely blown away."

  • "When I made the reservation, I mentioned that it was our wedding anniversary. To our surprise, our table was delicately decorated with red rose petals and there was a greeting card signed by the staff! That was very thoughtful, to me, it shows they care for their clients. Everybody was smiling like they were enjoying serving and making customers happy. Our waiter, Joseph was polite and helpful. With the soothing piano playing on the background, it truly makes a big difference when you are eating great food and receiving wonderful service! For the final course, on my husband and my dessert plates, "Happy Anniversary" was beautifully unscripted in chocolate to complement the mouth-watering key lime pie and chocolate ganache."

  • "Bartender Luke treated the birthday girls like Queens! Nels, our waiter, treated our whole group like Royalty! Agua's food was amazingly flavorful especially the Beet Salad and the Mac & Cheese. The halibut melted in your mouth. Well done, Faithful Servers! Pat L Bohan CPA"

  • "We have dined here twice and each time the food and service has been outstanding! Wine by the glass is pricey as are the entrees but with the incredible view and atmosphere, this is a wonderful place for that special occasion!"

  • "Service was exceptional, the practice of bring out all the food at once with a server for each diner looks like the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace. Steak and lobster were both perfectly cooked and to order both were outstanding. Crab Bisque was really good too. Caesar salad was well executed and they even applied the (I think mandatory) anchovies at my request. Truffle Mac and cheese was good but not killer, it could actually use a little more cheese Lobster mash potatoes were good but not as good as I expected. Nice garlic mash with a kind of chunky lobster gravy on it. Didn't wow me. I am not getting on these guys it was a great mean but for the price and the El Gaucho reputation I expect 5 star all around"

  • "great for our anniversary. expensive but worth it. fantastic food and many small details (like signed happy anniversary card from all the staff) that made the night special."

  • "We celebrated 4 birthdays and it was excellent! The weather cooperated, (not always so in Seattle) and the service was excellent. Our server was Leanne...(recommend her if you can!). The room is very spacious so if you have a large party, it doesn't affect the neighboring tables. (as was our neighbors...they had about 8 in their group, didn't hear anything). I had the seasonal halibut, (a favorite in Seattle) and it was a bit overcooked but still very good. (I am picky). Everyone raved about their food at the table. Something that you must order - the lobster mash potatoes and the bread pudding for desert. AMAZING! All in all, a great meal and a great evening."

  • "Great food. Tableside spinach salad for two was modifyied for our table of three. Our waiter knew the menu, explained evrything and knew some local wines that I had no experience with. He discribed both wiines and a Stroller Pinot pefectly. "I'll be back""

  • "I took my wife here for her birthday. The server found this out, and came back to sprinkle rose petals on our table, and even had the staff sign a birthday card for her! So great. The seafood platter we had was also amazing. The King Crab was cooked just right, and had great seasoning. The scallops were also some of the best I've ever had. I won't be able to come here except for special occasions, however. It's really just not in my budget, and I was only able to afford it because of a generous gift from our wedding. But if you're looking for an amazing meal, and don't mind the price, I would highly recommend this place."

  • "Aqua has tremendously good food and impeccable service; even the piano player is excellent and has an amazing repertoire from Cole Porter to Led Zeppelin (which he somehow makes work without being abrasive). This is our third visit but honestly, the prices have gotten a bit out of control. I understand that fine dining is something that comes at a premium. Still - when most entrees soar over the $50 mark AND everything else is an add on, it becomes an evening out of the reach of most except for extremely special occasions. Don't get me wrong - they're doing a great job and everything we've had to eat there was marvelous. But two people would be hard pressed to have an appetizer, dinner and drinks for under $300"

  • "Great food. Wonderful service. Outdoor seating (when warm and not raining) is fabulous, This is my favorite restaurant in Seattle, period. Lobster mashed potatoes, corn, fish, meat, you name it ... all excellent. Half sides are plenty for 2. I highly recommend Aqua for a business diner, special date, special occasion, or just to treat yourself."

  • "My wife and I gave been to Aqua three times in the past year and I've taken an out of town client group as well. Each experience has been world class. My clients are foodies and are still talking about it 6 months later. We've found the wait staff to be exceptional, yet down to earth. This last trip was for our anniversary and our table was done up with rose pedals and a great card signed by the whole staff. I noticed that there was an excellent wine I'd before but my wife was leaning toward a Malbec. Our waiter, Joe, proactively brought a few samples out including 3rd choice and we had fun time guessing which was which. The cocktails, the tableside grilled prawn spinach salad for two with flaming cognac were highlights."

  • "We went to Aqua this last weekend for dinner and when We walked in we were greeted at the door and taken to our seats without having to wait at all. The waitress was very knowledgeable and helped us pick out a wine that would go well with our dishes. The service overall was impeccable. The ambiance was something I have never seen in any other restaurant I have been to in the Seattle area. I would highly recommend Aqua to anyone."

  • "Four of us had an excellent dinner at this excellent place. Everything from the seafood appetizers through dinner could not have been better. The food and wine were expensive, but at a fair price for an excellent setting and great food. The restaurant is on a pier in the Seattle harbor, and the view through the surrounding windows is outstanding from nearly all seats. The interior of the restaurant is modern and vibrant. A excellent pianist played for most of our meal as an excellent backdrop. Did I say that everything was EXCELLENT! A great place to impress!"

  • "I made dinner reservations for my fiance and I on Valentine's day at Aqua after having gone to El Gaucho steakhouse in Belltown for my fiance's birthday dinner back in December. I Chose Aqua because I wanted to have another superb dining experience with high quality food. I have to say that we were very disappointed. The service we got wasn't bad per se, but it was something we could have expected at a Red Robin or other food chain like it, certainly not at the level it should have been. The food on the other hand was definately not worth the price. The rock lobster, an $89 dish, was dry and had the consistency of over cooked chicken, and the garlic-butter that came with it wasn't very good as it had been at El Gaucho. Very let down overall"

  • "Love Aqua, great seafood, great location, great atmosphere. Starting to feel like it's getting pricey so we don't go as much as we'd like but the service and ambience is so great, hard to pass up."

  • "We went for Valentine's day, as we had the kids with a sitter. This was our first time at the restaurant. We arrived in February around 6, so there was just a little light. What views! I cannot imagine what it's like in the summer! I'd love to go then! I can't tell if they do outside seating then too? The food was VERY tasty. Our server was fantastic! I did notice all the tables with rose petals, but ours didn't....which was fine. Loved the dessert! We did not share....had to try 2! I want to mention the wine was VERY expensive. An unbelievable mark up really. I think the cheapest glass was $17 for a 6 ounce pour? The craft drinks were priced accordingly, but the wine was a bit ridiculous. A different option to Canlis."

  • "Aqua by El Gaucho is an amazing restaraunt. From the moment we walked through the big, blue, padded door we felt special. The view of the sound was beautiful and our server gave us enough space to not feel baby sat but never stayed away so long that we felt neglected. And the bread pudding.....words can't even begin to describe how delicious it is. The venue is decorated beautifully and has low lighting so the ambiance is romantic and intimate. I will definitely return!"

  • "I've been fortunate enough to have eaten in some fantastic restaurants in my life...many of which are far better than the experience I had at Aqua. I just felt over charged for the food, which was only mediocre. It's a beautiful restaurant, great location, and our server was wonderful, but, for $250.00 for two people I'd never go there again. I was surprised, because I've eaten frequently at El Gaucho, and have never been disappointed, although it too, is far too expensive. For that much money, in my book, the food had better JUMP off the plate, and at Aqua, as I stated, it was mediocre."

  • "My biggest disappointment was how they crammed everyone in to the restaurant. My wife and I went there for valentine's day, and they had maxed their restaurant to capacity... and you could feel it. From the beginning- we were seated promptly with food/wine menus in hand. After looking through we ordered a couple of cocktails which were outstanding. However the table we were sat in was almost like an auxiliary room, which had nowhere near the ambience of the main seating area. It was a small table right in the middle of the room. It was the first time I have felt that I was in an "awkward" table. it was one of the outdoor patio tables.. I expected more. The food was good, elementary plating and my lobster was overcooked."
