Diner Reviews
  • "Celebrated our 22 year anniversary and it was memorable. The staff greeted us by acknowledging the occasion then we were promptly led to a table outside overlooking scenic Elliott Bay with a view of Mt Rainier on a balmy Seattle evening. Cocktails were great. Fried oysters, spicy shrimp, ahi tartare, crab bisque were delicious starters. Steak and lobster were perfect. Sides of mac & cheese and green garbanzos were generous and tasty especially the latter. Dinner was finished by a delicious rich bread pudding dessert on the house with the words happy anniversary scrolled in chocolate on the plate. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Definitely will return. Thanks to the chef and staff for a great evening!"

  • "This restaurant is outstanding. We chose it because of the piano player and were not dissapointed. However, the food was excellent, the service impeccable and the view of the sound added to it all. Expensive but worth it."

  • "Just what we were looking for to celebrate my mother's birthday. The waiter helped us for food choices. Excellent staff attending to all of our needs. They provided a shuttle to and from hotel. We were out on the patio with the water below us. Fabulous expience. We both had the halibut which was the special."

  • "Had a Caesar salad that was mundane and swimming in dressing. Halibut was good, but over-cooked. Service was mixed: my waiter was mostly absent, but 3 different captains came by the table and filled in. Each time a captain stopped by, something wasn't right (drinks not delivered, wine not delivered, etc.) and they fixed it. Doesn't reflect well on the waiter, though. The ambience was good: table near the window with views of the Olympic mountains."

  • "Lovely (and expensive) restaurant with fantastic waterfront views."

  • "We very much enjoyed our anniversary dinner at Aqua, and most of the credit goes to the impeccable and very attentive service. The food was very good, for me to say it was outstanding they'd have to clean the scallops better as they were a bit crunchy, and get the sea bass right, we had a beautiful piece of fish that was unfortunately a little overcooked."

  • "It wasn't our first choice for reservations on the 4th, but we ended up being super glad we came here instead. Everything except our main server was absolutely incredible. She was just kind of awkward... but the guy that helped her towards the end (maybe a server assistant that should really be a server??) really won us over, and the bald gentleman that did the volcano dessert was really great. The food was amazing, the ambiance was great, and I can't wait to go back."

  • "Second time at Aqua. The food and service here is awesome! Will definitely come again."

  • "Overall it was very good. Wanted a special dinning experience and but for a couple of exceptions it was. It took a little bit long for waiter to begin service and scallops would have been excellent except when plate arrived they were not quite warm but almost cold, probably should have said something but I did not. Except for those 2 examples it overall had very nice time."

  • "We met some relatives from California for dinner here, on a sunny, weekday June evening. What a view! Rainier to the south, water all around, the Victoria Clipper passing right by the terrace. The interior is beautiful, open, comfortable; great use of mirrors so those facing into the restaurant can still see the water. Wonderful menu, we had both steaks and seafood and it was all top-notch. Couldn't do justice to the big wedge of key lime pie, but we tried."

  • "I went to this restaurant in Seattle expecting it to be one of the best in the city. It was not even close. The Crab Bisque was very salty which spoiled the potential of the soup. We ordered their mainstay stuffed jumbo shrimp dishes which has been on the menu the longest expecting that it would be very good. It was unremarkable and had too much sauce on it. We had the salad with Strawberries and it was ok but not outstanding. We added on King Crab leg which was steamed with no special distinction. There was no special preparation there. We ate at a number of other seafood restaurants in Seattle during our visit that were much better in the quality of food and even more moderately priced. the view was great."

  • "Although we enjoyed our experience at Aqua El Gaucho very much, the food itself was no better or worse than we have had at less expensive restaurants or even in our own home. We would be glad to come again for the fun of it, but not because of the food. However, dessert was GREAT!!"

  • "Ahi Tuna appetizer was the best--tried the Spicy Shrimp which was OK too. Sea Bass was unbelievably tender and melt in your mouth good. Sitting by the window and watching a regatta sail back & forth=priceless."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "Impressive enterance and view through the restaurant to the sound. We had a front row seat for the sailing regatta as a bonus to dinner. The wine and food were 5-stars. My only criticism is for a restaurant at this price point the waiter was not attentive and could have benefitted from more training."

  • "The entire evening could not have been better. With three out of town guests in need of great seafood and a view of the waterfront, Aqua was the perfect choice. The service was impeccable, with consistent attention to our table without feeling overwhelmed. Presentation, texture, fragrance, and flavor of dishes was exceptional. Wide open views of the waterfront and floor plan made for a memorable evening. I have already recommended Aqua to several friends."

  • "I review this with love for the El Gaucho Brand :-) I have to say that I had to try Aqua. It is owned by El Gaucho and that is a staple in the Seattle area... I'm not going to say that Aqua is bad, but cause it isn't just nothing spectacular... Admittedly, both my girlfriend and I ordered Steaks there, which my not have been too smart since we were at El Gaucho's seafood restaurant, but it's still a part of Gaucho... I'd say that the Rib Eye I had was only an inch thick, which was a disappointment to me. Cooked well but under seasoned. The garlic mashed potatoes had minimal garlic taste to them and the roasted corn although delicious, looked less than appetizing. over priced... Nice place, but not as good as it's big brother...."

  • "you always feel special at Aqua (or any el gaucho restaurant). if you go on a nice seattle night, the views display seattle's best (Rainier, Olympics, the Sound, sailboats/ferries, etc.) If you have a special occasion, they set out a card and rose petals! the food is amazing, bar tender will make anything you want. great seafood menu to complement the usual el gaucho amazing steak menu. they also have blankets if you want to be outside after it gets chilly. such a pretty sunset view!"

  • "From the hostess, waiter and the piano player playing me happy birthday as the "cake" was brought out .... awesome all around. The signed birthday card by the staff waiting on the table when we sat down was a nice touch as well. Well done."

  • "Its difficult to screw up cold seafood....if thats all youre going to eat, than you will be fine. BUT YOU PAY A PREMIUM for it. Other food was barley edible...Lobster mash was a watery joke, Salmon entree was 70% RAW (sorry server...Im a chef...you will NOT convince me your fish was served Mid-Rare)...the Wicked Shrimp was wickedly disgusting and WAY too spicy.....and I eat spicy food all the time!!! Hell, Im from Arizona!! Save your money and go somewhere else.....way over priced for what you get. OMG...almost forgot the Salted Carmel dessert drink!!!! Seriously, Half the glass was dipped in salt.....so nasty. More salt than a margarita......Dont say i didnt warn you about this place......."

  • "We were a party of 5. 2 of os had wonderful meals. 1 of us, the steak was underdone. Another, the scallops were cold. The third, the seafood was too salty. Service was excellent. The appetizers and drinks were outstanding. Overall, the restaurant was good. For these prices, I expected great."

  • "This was our first visit to Aqua having dined at all the other El Gaucho restaurants already. We were absolutely thrilled with our dining experience as was our 2 guests. The views are amazing and the food was fabulous. The staff was attentive and professional we could not have asked for a better meal. The wine steward helped select wines for the table by letting us taste a couple for approval, we sincerely appreciated. Highly recommend for a great meal and dining experience."

  • "We've never been disappointed with our dining experiences at Aqua. Anything off of the appetizer and entree menu has always been amazing. Two favorite menu items: the sweet roasted yellow corn and the Baileys chocolate caramel bread pudding. We love dining at Aqua!"

  • "My partner and I came to this restaurant during restaurant week and loved it!! It was our anniversary and got one of the best seats in the place overlooking the water. They even wrote us a card with rose petals on the table! The food was fantastic and dessert was madone--ayy! Very expensive so can only frequent here on rare occasions. God bless"

  • "First time here and celebrating college graduation. Could not hear conversations, noise level was awful. If you want to talk to your guests pick another restaurant. Service was very good but food was marginal. Probably will not go back too many other great places in Seattle."

  • "Brunch fare was generally very good. Only significant disappointment was raw oysters, which were slightly off their prime and not as tasty as they might have been. Service was only fair for such an expensive brunch: we had to work too hard to get server's attention, which was odd because there seemed to be plenty of wait staff for the number of tables occupied."

  • "Our first trip to Aqua was a real winner! From the beer & wine recommendations, to the outstanding food choices & quality, to the FREE shuttle back to our hotel, this place would be hard to beat in the Downtown Seattle area. Best Copper River King Salmon I have ever eaten! Not to mention a great view of the harbor/sound. Give it a try; you won't be disappointed!"

  • "This place was impressive from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. The hostess, the bartenders. and the wait staff were all on top of their game. The food was of the best quality and my wife even stated that she had never had a better meal ever. The price is what you should expect from a restaurant of this quality so we wouldn't be eating here every week, but it was worth every penny."

  • "This was our first visit to Aqua and we absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was vibrant with an entertaining piano player and the views of the sun setting were breathtaking! Our server Joe was so helpful with menu suggestions; we had oysters to start so fresh! Then the dungeness crab and avocado salad (I did not share one bite, it was so good), followed by the Berents Sea Red crab legs. We topped it off with the creme brulee and bread pudding! Great food and outstanding service make this our new favorite restaurant! "

  • "I made the mistake of picking Aqua over El Gaucho for our anniversary celebration. I should of stuck with what I know. The food was over cooked and seasoned. The sommelier was rude and placed our wine in the direct sunlight on a different table. The only comment he made was to point out the Leonetti that my friend had brought for dinner was one they carried on the wine list. We had to ask for coffee three times. We waited 13 minutes for a cocktail from the bar. At this point there were 4 other patrons in the the restaurant. The staff was busy setting up for the next day. I could go on and on. It speaks volumes when the best service you received was from the hostess."

  • "Love the ambiance! Love the drink menu! Some items are so fantastic!! But I somehow keep managing to not find that one spectacular main dish. The shrimp are stuffed - but with an overly salty mixture that doesn't add anything. Scallops are cooked to perfection, but the grapefruit sauce is just not the best taste compliment. I know the perfect meal is there for me somewhere!! I just haven't found it yet. Maybe next time..... Bread, drinks, wine are too good for there not to be the perfect main course!!! "
