If you bring a hearty appetite...look elsewhere. If you are adventurous for unusual fare, you are in the right place. The menu may change daily, so check their list before you make a reservation as choices are very limited. The food is outstanding albeit a bit chi-chi. The Foie gras came with rhubarb, for instance, and 3 drops of almond creme. An entree was a piece of black bass 3 inches long and 1 inch wide on a tablespoon of ?? with black radish and 3, yes three, small mushrooms. For the cost of $ 24. We had the chocolate dessert, which was luxurious, the 2 halves of fresh cherry superfluous. In short: it's highly expensive, yet delicious food in very small portions (which I personally prefer to the over heaped plates elsewhere)

Apres is my new fave! The menu is inventive and reads super fresh with an emphasis on vegetables, but for the meat lovers the chef makes an AMAAAZING short rib so lean, juicy and flavorful. We ended up actually ordering a second one. The menu may sound precious, but the finished dish is just really fresh, tasting and delicious. It's a combination of contemporary preparation methods that yield incredible flavor and texture to common products, like asparagus. The Asparagus salad was one of my favorite dishes that I wish I could eat everyday along with the Carrots with Cumin & Crab. The only dish we didnt like was the Potatoes with Octopus. We would order the prix fixe next time, a good deal. Also bc the pannacotta was a standout.

I thought the waiter was excellent. He was all over our table making sure we had everything we needed. While the food tasted great, we ended up leaving the place hungry. We spent around $190 but ended up grabbing a slice of pizza afterwards. I do not think it was worth the money. The ambiance is like any other restaurant in nyc, dim lit room with candles. I wouldn't recommend it.

Great place to sample rotating seasonal small plates. Artful plating, and bold yet refined flavours. They have a great accessible wine list but I suggest indulging in their stellar cocktail menu. foodbite from my last visit: nori financier with yuzu gelee + heirloom carrots w/ langoustines. Looking forward to trying Après again..and again!

Read the article about this restaurant from Zagat last week. Tried this new opening after work yesterday with my colleagues. The menu is very unique. We had four course tasting. My first course was Foie Gras and it was delicous. Then, I had beautifully presented carrots with crab meat followed by short rib which was perfectly cooked. Service was bit slow but we all left happy at the end. Will definitely come back with my dates.

After joining my group of four as the late comer I was immediately caught up by our server with a delicious cocktail and a setting. The cocktail list surprised me because I didn't expect to see vegetables on there. I chose the "Ramp", if you like dirty martinis, you'll love this too. We kind of over did it and shared 11 dishes together. The fluke was fresh, and the octopus was succulent. Dessert followed and surprised me again! My guests loved the panna cotta, my fave usually, but the beet cake with gelato combination blind-sided me. The others continued with after dinner drinks while I decided on tea. As they discussed their choices I took in the room. I love the new warm color and glow of the lights. Nice job Apres.

The menu has fantastic green market vegetable small plates and vegetable seafood combinations. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. There are some meat options and a tasting menu which I have not tried yet. If you want huge portions this restaurant is not for you. However, if you want a fine dinning experience where the portions are right, I hightly recommend Apres. Apres has an excellent wine list and creative cocktails. Servers are knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this reataurant.

Had dinner here with a few friends and sampled a number of Aprés' unique dishes. The food is excellent - great concept and superb execution. The well composed plates looked like mini works of art featuring fresh and flavourful ingredients. Some of the memorable dishes I had: brassica, short rib + mustard greens, buttermilk panna cotta. The panna cotta's combination of buttermilk and lemon verbena sorbet was refreshingly addictive. Friendly staff and excellent service. Definitely a must try.

I was here during their first week, and if the food was any indication this is going to be an excellent relaunch of what used to be Apiary (one of my old faves). Delicious, inventive dishes that are super artfully plated. Considering the kinds of ingredients they're using (goat butter, green strawberries, fancy mushrooms, sea buckthorn (?!)) the $58 4-course prix fixe is a steal. The chef does a particularly great job with veggies, esp the ones that are gently charred. The mushrooms in black garlic sauce are particularly amazing. And that goat butter with their bread is crazy addictive. Supposedly this will be a changing seasonal menu. If so, at this price point I'm definitely returning every couple weeks to see what's new.

If you have eaten at The Elm, you will understand this food very well. Food is plated in the way all restaurants are plating their food these days, and have been for the last few years, but it is quite tasty. The fluke crudo is good, but the fish was served at room temperature and I prefer it a bit colder. The foie gras torchon is very good (hard to screw it up), but the brioche could have been less dense and slightly larger. The panna cotta desert is really quite good and visually beautiful. Overall, it is an excellent newcomer to the contemporary American cooking landscape. Service in my opinion is cold, stark and inattentive. It is incongruent with the food being served.

It is quiet - thank goodness - though it was Tuesday at 7 pm. Lovely wines by the glass. And calm. But the new trend on 3rd ave is overly inventive tiny (not even close to share plates) at entree prices - e.g. $18 for 'heirloom carrots' - I think there were about 5 decorating a plate with very interesting dabs of flavor surrounding an inch of crab. The prix fixe menu is probably worth it - $55 for 4 plates - but if you don't want to sample tiny interesting bits of different things then probably not worth it.

A serious chef aiming for intense and interesting flavors, and most succeeding. BUT . . . the plates are largely composed of very small portions of high-end produce and reductions, with protein making up only a small percentage of what's served. So one of the larger small plates was a duck dish that consisted of a piece of meat the size of my index finger, too expensive even at $22 (same for the $9 cheese desert, where the cheese was pinky sized). $200 (with tax and tip) bought us 5 plates (all small), 2 deserts (small), sparkling water (2 liters), 1 cocktail and 1 glass of wine. I've eaten very well in Manhattan for a lot less. Here, the food was good but it cost a lot and we were still hungry.

Love Apiary. This was my third visit, and it was a great dining experience. The food was excellent. This restaurant has a lovely, modern design and chic ambience. THe best sweetbreads ever! I have not had a meal there that was not excellent. My only complaint is that the restaurant gets VERY noisy when it is full. As a place where I take friends to "dine" rather than just eat, the noise interferes with the conversation. Needs carpeting or better sound proofing.

Apiary, on first glance, appears to be a standard above-average restaurant. However, the food is exquisite, every dish surprises you with how good it is. the ravioli appetizer is complex. the merluza is lightly crisped on the outside but flaky tender and succulent. for dessert, the apple tart is the best i've ever had. (i just wont think about how much butter must be in there.) our server was incredibly nice and helpful. i love this place so much, its my second visit in a month. my only complaint is the noise level. its closer to saturday night bar than thursday night restaurant.

I have found my new neighborhood gem..and so have all my friends..we were first attracted by the decor, beautifully appointed, and then we found out about Monday free corkage! We started to go on Monday's and have our wine night there instead of once a month at someone's home. It was so good and such a pleasant experience we now go "not on Monday's". I have now taken my colleagues from work and friends from the neighborhood. I don't mind sharing such a find..the service is always friendly, professional etc. And Wine Night..they could not be nicer..I don't know what more I can say except I will keep going and bringing my friends..its not often you can go to a restaurant and know that it will be good whenever the visit.

Apiary is a tremendous find. The food is ambitious and delicious. My friends had the salmon, which they said was superb; I had the rabbit ragu over pappardelle. The rabbit was generous and well-seasoned. For appetizers my friend had the octopus, which she loved, and we had the simple salad--the freshness of the greens was notable in a town with really good produce. I was impressed by the wine list; in particular, the wines by the glass included a Bergerac, a really nice French wine that's not so easy to find in New York. The space is unpretentious, but nice. Go!

Went on a monday "no corkage fee" night which enhances the experience since one can bring a wine that might not be affordable on a list. The food here is creative and solidly done. Fish dishes are excellent (I had bass). The duck and chicken are also excellent. My only complaint is that the menu does not change much if at all. Been the same for about 9 months and there are not a lot of specials (at least on mondays)

The duck was perfectly cooked and so delicious. We shared appetizers and loved the sweetbreads and grilled octopus and of course dessert was so yummy. We had the apple tart which was a soft flaky pastry, apple (a little too sweet) and ice cream. My husband's salmon was also perfectly cooked and delicious. Definitely a winning restaurant
