We had the cheese platter which was great, nice variety. My entree was the lamb chops which were cooked to perfection, I would return for those alone. My wife had the chicken pasta which was also very good. The chicken was slightly overcooked but the light pasta sauce compensated. Great selection of wines as well.

This was not an "Open Table" type of place. We've been here before for wine tasting and light appetizers. I was surprised and intrigued to see Apres listed under dining. They offer a prix fix menu and a la carte. The waitress also worked the wine bar and seated new people and I don't know what all else she did. This is not a dining experience in the least. We opted for the a la carte and it took forever for the food to arrive. It was beautifully presented but very sub par. It really is a sit down and sip wine kind of place. Fine dining it is not.

We found the Apres Wine Company through Open Table when looking for a special Valentines Day dinner reservation in South Lake Tahoe. They offered a beautiful four course meal accompanied with wine pairings. My husband and I ordered differently to share and we found everything to be wonderful. We especially enjoyed the variety of wines that we tasted with each course. The staff was knowledgeable and personable. We highly recommend this experience and restaurant/ wine bar and will definitely return ourselves!

Based on other reviews, I was expecting great food. We were not disappointed. Apres is blessed with a great young chef with amazing talent. The curry used for the chicken makhani was the best I ever had, and the steak was jazzed up nicely by a thin layer of chimichurri. Unfortunately, the food is the only positive thing Iabout Apres. The concept (wine shop with a small bar and a small restaurant space) doesn't work. The fatal flaw is the strong smell of grease from the kitchen that permeates the entire store. My coat and other clothing still reeked of frying oil the next day! Even if you are there just to enjoy a glass of wine at the bar, the smell of grease is likely to disrupt your wine tasting experience. I will not go there again.

What a lovely evening we spent here! The 4 course pairing menu was fun, good choices for the entrée, good wines to suit the food! There was a (very loud) bachelorette party of 10, and our lovely waitress still attended to us very well, even moving our table mid-meal for a bit more quiet! This place is small, but really a great way to end our Tahoe vacation. We would definitely come back again!

It was our first time at Après. I was expecting a "fine dining" experience and was disappointed with the main course. I would return for the wine, some cheese (can't go wrong with cheese) and for the intimate ambiance. Would not recommend the salmon entrée. Chocolate bark was ok.

My wife and I visited Apres for appetizers and wine. We frequent this wine bar because the staff is friendly, the food is cutting-edge and the wine selection changes regularly, allowing us to discover new vintages. Lauren, our bartender, was friendly and knowledgeable, suggesting several wines based on our preferences. We enjoyed a very tasty Spanish Rioja that went great with their Charcuterie Plate. Owners JP and Barb happened to be there and we had nice chat with them. The wine bar also has many nice wine-related gifts in their retail shop along with a great selection of wines. This is one of our favorite places to frequent and we often eat a full meal there. The desserts are especially good!

SLT has less than a handful of excellent restaurants - and I would put Apres Wine in the top 2 (my other favorite being Cafe Fiore). Despite that it is hidden in a strip mall, the food and atmosphere are superb. I highly recommend their paired four course dinner (fixed price). The courses were all delicious and served in perfect portions - and what a treat to have each course perfectly paired with a 2 oz glass of top notch wine (the perfect amount to complement a course). My husband had the polenta (vegetarian) and I had the salmon (wild caught!). The chocolate bark, made in the restaurant, is the perfect finish to an excellent meal and evening. Highly Recommend! The wine bar is small (intimate), so be sure to make a reservation.

Tucked into a strip mall, Après is an great wine bar that has a limited but excellent menu. Seating other than at the bar is limited but its worth the reservation. The roasted figs were outstanding. The entrees, a vegetarian polenta dish, salmon, and chicken with penne were all done well.

Don't let the location or the store front fool you. This place has fantastic wine and fabulous food. Great hidden gem. We ordered the bacon wrapped, goat cheese stuffed figs, cheese and meat plate, bruschetta, artichoke dip, and Pot de creme. Everything was wonderful!!! Can't wait to go back.

The wine list is long, and had a lot of options we were not previously aware of. They have a cool setup of machinery to preserve the wines so they can keep 24 available bottles at a time. We enjoyed the wine options, and the food was good - but not great. The food we ordered had good taste, but the tastes within the dishes weren't always matched well. The stuffed figs were a little too dry, and the lettuce in the spring salad was turning brown at the edges - which when you're picky, matters. I probably wouldn't go again for dinner, but it's worth going for the wine options.

It wasn't that bad but it took a long time to get our food and drinks that we ordered. There was a lot of wine dispensers around but nothing was explained to us. The food was ok. If you do go I would recommend sitting at the wine bar because they seemed to get faster service.

This is a hidden gem, tucked inside a strip mall. It is a tiny space -- 6 tables, max. Food is excellant and as this is primarily a wine shop and tasting bar, she has interesting wines available by the glass. No glitz, no glam, but interesting and delicious food.

What a fun place to go for a fantastic glass of wine and appetizers. While we did dine at dinner and realized the menu was more for appetizers than for a full dinner, we ended up ordering enough apps for the 4 of us to share to make a wonderful meal. The service was fantastic and the food was extremely good. We will definately go back next time we are in Tahoe.

This is a neighborhood spot that is a wonderful place to relax with wine and homestyle cooking. The appetizers are all excellent, especially the stuffed figs and the polenta. While the entrees are fine, I actually like the appetizers more than the entrees. There is an extensive wine menu to go with the food. I recommend the tasting portions so you can get to taste a number of wines. This is a small place that really does feel like a home kitchen, so if it's crowded, the service can be slow -- but it's still friendly service. Instead of getting anxious, just relax and taste more wine!

My S/O and I were visiting Tahoe for the weekend and found Apres and made our reservation for a Sunday evening. When we arrived they told us they were doing something they called "Sunday Sippers" which was a wine tasting experience conducted by the owner, J.P. with wines he had selected for the occasion. I have to say that we thoroughly enjoyed this time spent here. J.P. was very knowledgable and actually enjoyed conducting this tasting. He made it very interactive with the 8-10 individuals at the bar so 5 minutes in we were all relaxed and chatting it up like old friends. Great selection of wines. We had the stuffed figs and the cheese platter. Both were very fresh and tasty!! Definitely a regular stop whenever we are in Tahoe!!

I really liked this place. It is relatively small and has the feel of a neighborhood pub in England. There is a bar where the proprietor holds court. In addition there are a few tables. Four of us had dinner there, the menu was not extensive but generally the food was good. The guys had sausage skewers with couscous, one of the girls had smoked salmon paninni and liked it, my wife had the crab cakes which were good but she would have liked a larger serving. The service was friendly, competent but not intrusive. As a wine bar there is a good selection of wines by the glass, carafe and bottle. What I'm confused about is that they have both a bar and a liquor store license. If you buy wine from the liquor store, the corkage fee is

Couldn't be more pleased with this gem in South Lake Tahoe. Apres Wine Co has the best wine selection and is unique because they have some 40+wines by the glass. They also have some high profile wines by the glass, I couldn't believe I was able to taste the Nickel & Nickel Merlot in 2oz or full glass portions. Amazing! Their food was great as well. We sampled many different types of wine and took the same approach to the menu. We enjoyed the salmon cakes, short ribs and stuffed figs. Great for apres ski, really good wine selection, excellent food, overall a great place. We will definitely be back and also look forward to participating in some of their fun weekday & weekend events!
