The food is always beautiful, thoughtfully prepared, and delicious. The wait staff are delightful and flexible about leaving ingredients out if possible. I had a fish entree, Asian influenced, which included pork belly. They were happy to leave the pork out of it for me…..and it was fabulous, subtle, clean, perfect. The restaurant is quiet, tables set apart for conversation, and the patio is delightful in warm weather.

AppleWood Inn is absolutely beautiful. The ambiance was romantic and elegant, and the food, from starter to the salted butter on the bread, to the beet salad, to the beautifully and uniquely plated entrée were a sheer delight. But it is the staff that gives this restaurant their true magic. Our waiter, John, was professional, charming, helpful, well-timed, informative, and wonderful. Our hostess was so gracious and nonplussed at our additional guest, made every request seem effortlessly met, even welcomed. Applewood Inn is a treasure, a place to sample amazing and constantly changing food, to feel so at home and so welcome, like a much loved family member. Every minute in the restaurant was a sheer delight.

This is a wonderful romantic place. The food wasn't as good as I expected. It seemed experimental, and not all the flavors worked well. I ordered the fish, and it was slightly overcooked, and too many different flavors for the accompaniments that didn't give one or two spectacular tastes. The apple and onion soup was delicious, but not enough to make up for the so-so entree.

We stayed at the inn which included the chef's tasting menu. The food was well prepared, but nothing exceptional. The price was also expensive for how much food you got. The onion soup, scallop, and trio of desserts were good, but the salad and lamb were fair.

A top notch restaurant. We had the 5 course pre fixed tasting menu. It was outstanding. The courses were nicely spaced and each one was a culinary delight. Our main course was the filet mignon which was perfectly done. The trio of desserts was the cherry on top...a high five to the pastry chef for this trio of deliciousness. The peanut butter profiterole was the ultimate. We were celebrating a special occasion but I would certainly return there to just have an outstanding meal. Service was very attentive. We also stayed at the Inn and highly recommend this for a weekend getaway location.

My wife and I found the scallop/lobster appetizer new and very pleasing. The sauce really setoff the scallop texture and flavor. The rack of lamb melted in your mouth, no knife needed, the seasoning was subtle but really enhanced the flavor. I am not usually a fan of peanut butter ice cream but the sauce made it delicious. The Pinots Noirs from the wine list were very good and were very complimentary with the lamb, Ross, our waiter, was very helpful and attentive as was the supporting staff. They were very knowledgeable regarding the food they were serving.

Food was very good. Unfortunately our table wasn't ready. After 30 minute wait, we flagged down the water person who seated us. Never were we offered a snack, glass of wine, water. We are from the area and were disappointed to see the wine list started at over $50 and they were out of the house wine. Limited wine by the glass. Questionable service, they definately need new wait staff.

I didn't know what my expectation was specifically but I'd say I was very pleased with my recent dinner at the Applewood Inn. The food was high quality, had some interesting twists (the cocoa rub on the lamb rack was awesome!) and there were no disconnects in starter, entrée, nor desert. I had the lamb rack and my girlfriend the cod. Both were great. A chocolate mousse and honey cannoli with excellent espresso finished things off. The setting is old-school, but nice and well maintained. The only drawback was more my fault than theirs. It looks like it's only a short walk from town but I don't recommend it. The road is busy, windy, and there's almost no shoulder. A quick taxi ride home was the solution after dinner.

We were really looking forward to dinner bases on some reviews and the Inn's website. What a disappointment. The food was fine, adequate. But given the Michelin star references we were really expecting something special. Didn't deliver, oh and the fact they were out of the app my wife wanted at 8 pm did not help. It was not a cheap meal but we had no problem with that, yet a $38 entrepreneurs should be fantastic. My lamb was nicely cooked, but the other parts of the dish not so. My wife's fish dish was not properly seasoned. The Inn is great as we're the breakfasts. But the dinner...I suggest going to the Farmhouse.

It was the Sunday Russian River menu and each of the items was sensational. A melon gazpacho that went in three different taste directions but melded beautifully. We mad comment that the sea bass was more flavors than you could imagine, layered onto one plate. We added a simple butter leaf salad, but some simply done, it too, was a treat. And all to enjoy and celebrate Russian River wine. No corkage! Yum!

The food and the service was very good. We were a party of four who all had different dishes. We were all served at the same time and that was perfect. The good was very good and presented on the plates in a very nice way. If we have any complaint it should be that after the magnificens entré the dessert was a little to much, it could have been smaller, but we just had to eat it all.

Some dishes were wonderful while other lacked skill. The scallop dish was too salty and the chorizo was too rich for the lamb chop that was tasteless. Maybe the beef is a better choice if you try the Chef's tasting menu. Gazpacho and salad were delicious but something one can make themselves at home. We were expecting top quality given the michelin rating but maybe the chef was on vacation? We would try it again in the future but probably stay with the a la carte menu

We were married here several years ago so of course we already have a soft spot for the location, but this return was just as lovely. The menu has a beautiful and fresh focus and the local ingredients were the best. Quiet and unassuming (but good) service and the view of the peaceful courtyard and surrounding redwoods make it cozy, romantic and very relaxing. A gem all around.

We formerly loved Applewood. It's gone off and we won't be back. It was not a single failure but multiple. Nobody greeted us at the front desk when we arrived. Absense of sommelier was regrettable. There were lengthy interludes between courses. The food was fancy, bordering on pretentious. The scallops smelled fishy and the saffron butter sauce was ruined with too much vinegar. The service was marginal at best. We noticed that adjacent tables were fussed over while we were ignored. Mains were skimpy and overdone. The espresso that arrived 15 minutes after we ordered it, was bitter, without crema, tepid, watery and undrinkable. When we informed our server, she scampered away, the only skill in which she exceled.

We came on a Sunday night, and got the three course (vegetarian, they customized a bit) tasting menu for $35 each...a deal! Each course was phenomenal - they really let the flavors stand out. Appetizer let vegetables shine with a fantastic red pepper sauce to complement. Entree was a combination of vegetables - all done simply but very well (mashed potatoes, corn, mushroom, etc.). Dessert was amazing - peanut butter ice cream sandiwched between a cream puff-esque object with chocolate sauce! Service was standout (I forgot my purse and server ran after me in parking lot to give it to me) and this is a great option for quality vegetarian in a town that doesn't have much vegetarian! Very scenic, beautiful area amongst the vineyards.
