A word from Applewood Inn
Built in the style of a French country barn, The Restaurant at Applewood offers ingredient driven, farm,ocean, garden-to-fork cuisine. It embodies our celebration of Sonoma's natural riches and the wine country life style. Its wine program is Russian River-centric.

The Restaurant at Applewood has been awarded a Michelin star for 2011 and 2012 and is known for its Sonoma Wine Country Cuisine with Mediteranean influences.

A Chef's Tasting Menu is available each evening for $75 per person. This is a 2 1/2 hours dining experience meant for the whole table. Alternatively, you may chose from an Ala Carte Menu. On Sundays, along with the Tasting and Ala Carte menus, we offer a Prix Fix three course dinner known as Russian River Night for $35 per person.

Young people twelve years and older are welcome to join us for dinner providing they'll enjoy the fine dining experience and the company of the adults in their party.

The hotel and restaurant have a rustic, yet, romantic feel which made me feel at ease. The food was outstanding! My boyfriend and I have eaten at numerous fine dining restaurants, but we agreed Applewood restaurant is the absolute best. We both started off with a seared scallop. I'm not a huge fan of scallops, but I almost order another after clearing my plate! It was cooked to perfection along with fresh, vibrant flavors. Nothing could compare to the cocoa nib crusted rack of lamb. The flavors were rich, balanced and simple. The cocoa nib crust pairs perfectly to the lamb. "

  • "This Michelin-rated restaurant is fabulous. These are dishes you simply would not (and probably could not!) make at home, presented most beautifully. Seared diver scallops on a bed of whipped Yukon gold potatoes and Uni, with saffron butter? Sure, try that one at home! Mmmmm! Or how about Miso glazed Black Cod, with ginger broth, crispy Maitake mushrooms, mustard greens and grilled scallions. Out of this world delicious!! And make sure you leave room for dessert!!"

  • "Excellent and sophisticated menu. I liked the bit of the unusual in the dishes I ordered. An appetizer had the combination of a large scallop with uni and mushrooms, citrus flavors and mashed potatoes. An entree combined black cod with pork belly, miso, Chinese greens and mushrooms. Very expensive but worth a treat, especially for a special occasion."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed the entire "package" at Applewod Inn...the restaurant views, setting, food offerings, service, and wines...Russian River! From our champagne to our dessert everything was as we hoped it would be. Good combination of locally sourced produce, some from their own gardens, selected purveyor's (Laurel cheese). The hostess greeted and thanked us for coming and as us where we would like to sit, delivered champagne cocktails as I requested when making our reservations, and introduced us to our server. The food was delivered at a very reasonable pace and all three courses where very good...visually and tasted great, also paired well with the Pinot Noir ordered."

Applewood Inn sounded like a great idea... we could not have asked for anything better. Within a moment of walking through the door we were greeted and immediately shown to a comfortable table, offered a selection of water (bottled, sparkling, or iced), and given a chance to look over the menu. Our server was prompt and attentive, but not overbearing, and happily answered all of our questions about the menu. In terms of the food, everything was absolutely spectacular; fresh, colorful, beautifully presented, perfectly cooked, and unquestionably delicious. We will definitely be back and would strongly recommend to anyone!"

  • "Went here for a birthday celebration and have been several times before. What we were reminded of this time was that the portions are incredibly small and mostly very salty for the prize. I had the local special and could barely find the calamari. My partner had his friend had the fish and entrée and the portion was very small. If you like meat the portion seems to be a bit larger. The appetizers were also unremarkable. Filled up mostly on the bread, which was brought in from a local bakery. Will unfortunately not be going back for awhile."

The only draw back was the mandatory 20% tip on a party of four. I've never encountered this at any restaurant when using a coupon and it was not listed in the fine print."

  • "Foodie worthy menu. Innovative blending of fine ingredients: Fried oyster mushroom atop black cod seared steak with ginger broth - & a few more ingredients I have forgotten. Scrumptious. Divine beet salad with kumquat zest & toasted pistachios. Heavenly chocolate mouse cake. Our server was attentive, elegant, friendly but never overbearing. Very comfortable dining room & place to enjoy good friends or romantic date. It is very pricey but with the Groupon offer it was an affordable special occasion. I gave the food 4 stars because the seared tuna was bland & tough. We did not send it back or mention this, so the chef didn't have a chance to respond. Made a great tuna sandwich the next day tho with wasabi mayo, green onions & gerhkins."

Sitting around us was a couple celebrating their anniversary, two friends celebrating their birthdays, and our server's family celebrating a special occasion. The service was impeccable, the food delicious and creatively presented and the overall ambience romantic."

Best value is Sunday 3-course dinner (free corkage with Russian River wine)...no ala carte menu offerings. Check their website the week prior to see the set menu."

  • "This is a very nice place for a special occasion dinner. The setting is beautiful, in the woods along the Russian River. The food was presented very well, and was very tasty. The only difficulty with the meal was that we misunderstood the presentation of the appetizer, a prawn. The tail was presented raw on a nice kimchee base - but we don't care for raw fish. Then the "other half" of the prawn was presented in tempura, with the eyes of the prawn visible under the tempura. Not a real pleasant site, and definitely an acquired taste which we don't share. As earlier indicated, the food tasted fantastic, so the appetizer discussion was a caution to be sure of the preparation of dishes one orders."

  • "We have been coming to the Applewood for about 17 years, usually a couple of times a year. The ambience is outstanding. The restaurant manages to be rustic and elegant at the same time, with 2 fireplaces going. The food is always very good, but on the expensive side for relatively small portions. We ate 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 3 glasses of wine, dessert and coffee for about $150, not including tip. I would also add that the entrees lean toward red meat which my wife and I don't eat. Luckily, they had a vegetarian dish and a fish entrée that we had. The wine list is good and I had a feeling that anything I ordered from that was going to be great."

  • "The menu was small; 4 entrees, 4 starters and 4 desserts from which to choose. The quality was very good and each plate was beautifully prepared. That being said, we knew we would probably go home hungry. My starter was one scallop on a dollop of mashed potatoes with a little sauce. Entree was 2 very small but delicious lamb chops and a tablespoon of broccoli. If it weren't for the wonderful homemade bread there would have been very little food. The groupon deal included 2 glasses of tasty Pinot. I must say the cannoli's for dessert were exceptional. We purchased a groupon for $85 and we were given a bill for the 20% tip which came to $30."
