A word from Appaloosa Grill
Established in 2001, the employee owned Appaloosa Grill is a refreshingly unique choice among eateries that line the 16th Street Mall. The diverse all day menu features 100% natural meats as well as a variety of vegetarian options. The Grill also boasts two happy hours a day, a private party room for groups up to 75, a patio on the 16th Street Mall, live entertainment nightly and a kitchen that serves til 1am.

The Appaloosa Grill is a fusion of food and ambiance that is both upscale and casual. Warm cherry woodwork, burgundy-upholstered booths and elegant lighting make Appaloosa Grill popular for business lunches, while an antique bar with blazing candles and modern light fixtures offer dinner guests a classy, moody atmosphere. Appaloosa Grill opened in April 2001 to provide a unique dining experience for Downtown Denver's visitors, habitants and workers.

  • This is a dump

And unfortunately, our second expierience in this dump. In July we wandered in on our own, and had a barely consumable meal. This time wwe were staying at the grand Hyatt, and wanted a lite bite, so we, didn't realize we were in the same place ( we entered through a different door) and the front desk referred us here. It's the first and last time, I allow a open table reservation, kept us from walking out the door. If I end up not showing up for a reservation, it will be because we bolt at the door.

My son and I stopped in for dinner and were greeted and seated almost immediately. Our server suggested a few items on the menu, and we both decided on Bison burgers. The burgers were cooked exactly as we requested, and very delicious. With 2 sides as well, the meal was very filling and just what we wanted. I will dine here again the next time I am in Denver.

16th Street Mall is full of good restaurants, but Appaloosa Grill is fantastic. If you're from out of town and looking for a great, all-natural burger, this is definitely the place. The atmosphere is a plus as well.

We enjoyed our dinner on 16th Street Mall at Appaloosa Grill. We did have a reservation, were seated quickly, the waiter approached us in a timely manner for drink orders then returned for our main course order per our request. My husband's bison was served hot and correctly prepared, my salad was cool and NOT drenched in dressing. We enjoyed both selections very much. We did not do dessert. The place was very busy and the noise level is on the high end but most places along 16th Street are as well. We will definitely eat there again.

My husband and I LOVE Appaloosa for dinner, music, ambience, the whole bit. However, we ate here for Easter Brunch and I had the eggs benedict special. I have to say it was mediocre at best. amateur even. I didn't know what to say because I usually love their food! The one thing I look forward to about Easter is the food and mine was disappointing. Bummer. Lesson learned: Appaloosa is a great dinner place, not so much for breakfast.

Best service I had all week while visiting Denver. Unique food. We ate late and shared some light meals, sausage platter, salad & chile (ok - not that light). All were excellent and we didn't get the disapproving stare from our server when ordering small plates to share. Excellent wine list, but even better, the waitress was very knowledgable about the wines and made an excellent suggestions. I am a commercial wine grower. I appreciate a knowledgable server. What I really hate is someone who is not knowledgable and fakes it. I don't expect all servers to be wine experts so I would prefer they say so. I respect that. Back to the point, this is an excellent choice.

We were staying downtown for a meeting and decided to walk to the 16th Street Mall where we ate at this fine establishment. They offer Gluten and Wheat Free meals which was great for my wife and some dishes for me. I had the English Egg Rolls which were excellent and surprisingly tasty. My wife had the Thai Curry with rice which she enjoyed every bit of it as it was not too spicy. The prices are just a little high but, the views and entertainment make it worthwhile. We sat by the window which was great for watching the people walking up and down the street making the time pass by pleasantly. Service here is above average but, not quite excellent.

Ate dinner here after appointments downtown. The menu had several Mediterranean choices which made it very interesting. They also had several expected choices like chicken sandwich, fish, wings and burgers. We order a little bit of everything. The wine list was also very good and our server was able to recommend a great Chardonnay based on a description of desired flavors. The prices ranged from $22.00 for an entree to $8.00 or $10.00 for sandwiches. This place wasn't what I would call a quiet romantic place. Parking could be rough. We parked in lot that was a few block down for $10.00 for the evening. You could also park at the Denver Pavilion, it would be closer. We liked it and we will back.

Walking in I had low expectations due to it's funkiness. Dining alone, I sat at the bar and was soon well taken care of. Both of the female bartenders were so friendly and professional and knowledgeable. I ordered my steak on the rare side or med.rare and then bartender went back and told the chef who was out front expediting and it came out exactly the way I like it. The food was well presented and delivered HOT. The Baklava for dessert was amazing. A great experience, so don't judge a book my it's cover. Well done!

This was a great experience. The menu was varied and included a number of entrees from the region. I enjoyed the Buffaloaf with spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. The service was excellent! As I considered options from the menu as well as the wine list, my waiter was very helpful and made honest suggestions to steer me toward choices he believed to be good ones. He also brought a taste of a wine he thought to be better than what I ordered as another option. I look forward to dining here again!

Hit the Appaloosa on a Saturday night about 7:00. First thing we ran in to was the tables were too close together to navigate between to get seated. Had to ask another party to move their chair so we could get by. After that, the service was fine ... bit rushed, but fine. The food was OK. Had the Steak Frite. Would have preferred the steak a bit more tender and the frite a bit thicker ... but that's being picky. Overall would recommend this location to anybody looking for a meal while on travel or out for drinks. If you're looking for a place to have a conversation or sit for a bit enjoying your partner, probably not so much.
