  • "Went for the 2nd time on 7/5/14. Food was very good, service was good but not great. I love the character of the place. My issue was the extremely casual attire of several guests in the place - tshirts, shorts, sandals, etc. Fine for Golden Corral, not for Magazine. I wish the restaurant could enforce a dress code."

  • "We were the third table sat and by the time the 10th table was sat it started getting sticky. We asked the server if it felt warm in which she replied, a little. This was just about the time we were starting to place our appetizer order. The server said she will try to get them to turn it down but "it's controlled off-site". By the time the entree was served we were miserably sticky hot. I barley ate my meal and could not enjoy the Caymus wine that we brought to celebrate. This is all unfortunate because we heard good things about Apolline. I would suggest giving Managment on site controls of the AC and not micromanage. We may give it another try but there are too many other options to take the chance."

  • "This was our first time at Apolline and we will return. The duck confit was cooked to perfection. We also tried the sweet potato bisque and the heirloom tomato salad. Both were excellent. It was noisey and hard to hold a conversation. Our waiter was good, but hovered around the table until we were ready to order. Once our food arrived things slowed down and we were able to enjoy our meal. We plan on returning to try some of the other dishes and the brunch menu looked delicious."

  • "We were deciding between two restaurants, and chose Apolline based simply on the menu items "Dirty Duck Balls" and "Apple Moonshine Cake." While we didn't try either of those dishes, I was thrilled with the ones we did order: Heirloom Tomato Salad (surprisingly flavorful), Coriander Seared Tuna (do yourself a favor and try this), Seared Scallops with Shrimp (perfectly cooked), and sides of grilled mushrooms and smashed red potatoes. They also have a fun cocktail menu. I love restaurants that create new savory cocktails, and the bartender delivered with the Whiskey Smash. My husband loves the classics and is a very harsh judge; he said their Sazarac was spot on perfect. I'm very glad this restaurant is walking distance from our house."

  • "We always go for Wine Down Wednesdays, where wine is $5 a glass, a generous glass at that. We usually go early evening and sit outside and order only appetizers. My only dining experience was at 9 at night, it was a loud and the food was not what I expected having had such wonderful appetizers . It won't stop me from going again, the staff is great and I do like the neighborhood. Perhaps it was just the time of night. "

  • "The food was delicious and our server was awesome!! She was very knowledgable about the menu and wine list. We had our two-year old with us and the restuarant was loud enough that he really didnt bother anyone (we do take him out a lot so he's fairly well behaved in restuarants for his age. But he's still only two.) but it's definitely not so loud that you cant hold a conversation with your party. Definitely still romantic -- just not at a whisper level. Overall, great dinner and we will definitely be back!"

The shrimp and grits appetizer had a wonderful sauce and the grits were so creamy. My husband rated his scallops and shrimp dinner outstanding. But save room for dessert - the chocolate mousse with cake and bread pudding ended the meal perfectly."

  • "A group of us dined at Apolline's on last Sunday night. Everyone throughly enjoyed the meal. The duck confit salad was outstanding. Two of us had the scallops, excellent, and we loved the hidden surprise under the corn maque choux…..bacon. It was a delicious entree. Others had the short ribs and pork chops. All in our party raved about how wonderful every course was including the desserts. We will definitely dine at Appoline's again & again. Thank you Chef Mark for a memorable dining experience."

  • "Ourr 35th wedding anniversary. Service was OK, the sweet potato andouille bisque was good, but I think they cheated by making it so sweet it was like a dessert. My wife had the filet, which she said was outstanding. I had the pork chop, which was so salty I could not eat more than half, and the quality of the meat was supermarket at best. A good chop is marbled like a good steak. If you can't find that, don't serve it. It got so loud my wife said we had to leave. We had eaten at Zea the night before, and had an outstanding meal and service. Apolline did not charge us corkage for the celebration wine we had brought with us, and we appreciated that. Overall, though, I think this restaurant is a wannabe, and needs improvement."

  • "Our waiter, the man with the beard, took about 15 minutes to take our order, even when we put the menus down and weren't talking. He also took a while to clear our plates. This is unacceptable because it was a Tuesday night and the restaurant was not crowded. That being said, the good was good. The oysters were delicious, as was the bread pudding, but my fish lacked flavor."

  • "The restaurant itself is spectacular. Tables are positioned for good people watching and conversation. Not too loud at all. Seated just upon walking into the door. After being seated, we waited a good 10 minutes before anyone even came to fill our water glasses. It wasn't really all that busy so I'm not sure why the wait. For an appetizer I had the charbroiled oysters. Bland. For my entree I had the beef short rib. Again, bland. I rarely find a need to put salt and pepper on my food, but this food was just so bland. There was a short rib and grits and mushrooms. The mushrooms were tasty, but everything else was so flavorless. All in all, beautiful ambiance and a great time with my pal, but won't be returning for the food."

  • "The menu is limited to three-four items per category, and the wine list is on the smallish side, but wonderful things come out of that kitchen, and there is a wine for every taste and price range. My companion and I both had the heirloom tomato salad; I had fish as my main course, and the other main course was a filet. Both were wonderful. I had the peanut-y dessert (I can't remember the name), and it was one of the best things I have ever eaten. And they have a great cocktail menu with inventive names and combinations. Please go and enjoy!"
