ApiaryAbsolutely mouth wateringThe food was immaculate, from the ravioli to crudo our appetizers were perfect! Our mains were perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious, the chicken melted off the bone and the Merluza with the spring peas were to die for!
I absolutely would go back and eat everything on the menu!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMIn the neighborhoodI hadn't been to Apiary for a very long time. I don't know why. The food is excellent. The service is very attentive and professional. I'll go back soon.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent foodEvery time we have dinner at Apiary, we leave wondering why this outstanding restaurant is not better known. The menu is simple, yet inventive. I am particularly fond of their hake dish ( a cod-like fish) which is cooked to perfection, crisp on the outside and lightly cooked inside. All the deserts are to die for as well. We also like the overall understated feel. It is a small, not too noisy and nicely decorated place. Very friendly service, although a bit understaffed.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful food near Union SqA surprisingly elegant restaurant for this area, not far from NYU. Very nice setting and wonderful food . We shared a special appetizer of seared tuna on an eggplant base, I had salmon with roe on leeks, my wife had a white fish we had not head of which she said was excellent, and desserts were blackberry financier, a cake with blackberries baked into it and she had a chocolate fondant. All quite wonderful6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious dinner restaurant. The best grilled octopus in town for appetizer. The service was incredibly helpful, well informed, and the menu is short but all delicious. You can't go wrong, especially all the fish entrees are done just right. I recommend it for all occasions.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAMAZINGThis is one of the best dinners I have had in a while and I dine out 4x a week. Everything was fresh and our waiter was very insightful. I plan to go back6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe are four people who haveWe are four people who have had the opportunity to experience many of New York's famous and not so famous good restaurants. Apiary is now one of our favorites!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGood findIt's an unexpectedly delicious, little restaurant in a neighborhood of college eats. The atmosphere was a bit too button-ups and polos for me, but still had a great date here. The food was amazing, from the appetizers to the dessert. I highly recommend the duck.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBig punch in a small packageWhile the restaurant size is on the small size the tables are, refreshingly, not overly sardined. The food & service are excellent, Voila!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional SurpriseWent to Apiary on a friend's recommendation with my dad, who is a serious foodie or maybe he is just critical. The food and the service were outstanding. The burnt butter ravioli were to die for. And the cheese plater with the seasonal honey was outstanding. I would definitely go back.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFABULOUSWe were stunned by the wonderful meal we had at Apiary the other evening. The food was fabulous. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was excellent. Why haven't all of the New York restaurant critics written about Apiary? It is a mystery. The good news is that the restaurant was full so word-of-mouth is obviously good and strong. Cant wait to go again!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Swiss chard and ricottaThe Swiss chard and ricotta ravioli was wonderful and the Long Island duck breast entree was done to perfection and very tasty. The wine list was impressive and should meet anyone's taste. The service was efficient, cheerful and helpful. I look forward to returning and to recommending Apiary to my friends.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulThis was my second time here and it was truly special. This is a great place for the wine crowd. We were sitting next to a table who had bought 6 first growth wines with them and we got a taste! 85' latour...it doesn't get better than that as far as wine is concerned. The food is phenomenal from the hamachi crudo to the deserts (gooey chocolate cake and strawberry rhubarb pie). The waiter was also able to wrangle a substitution for us as we went for the tasting menu, the ravioli replacement was heavenly! Come here, it's epic!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMupscale & localTHe ambience, the service, the food, & of course the cost(although value driven) make this restaurant an exceptional dining experience in an otherwise 'college-oriented' neighborhood.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant surpriseI had little to no expectations going to Apiary but only decided to check it out because I had a BlackBoard Eats. I was so impressed with the service from the start. Everyone was so attentive and friendly, and they were really accommodating about ordering items off of the prix-fixe menu a la carte. The food was exceptionally delicious, in my opinion. My friend and I shared the grilled octopus, and then I had the pan-seared wild bass and she had the duck confit. I would definitely go back to this place and hope to very soon.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMfantastic food perfect waiterfantastic food perfect waiter service terrific would go back5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining experienceA real pleasant surprise! I found out about this place through blackboardeats and tried the tasting menu (5 courses). The food was excellent and I enjoyed almost all 5 courses (only one I did not finish because it was sweetbread, which I am not a fan of - but even then I almost finished the plate because the sauce was so good). Service was excellent, they kept my water fill and the waiter was friendly and attentive without hovering. Atmosphere was also pretty cool/chic.
Alll in all, a real find and I will come back again for sure.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodWent to Apiary for my wife's birthday with family (6 people). Everyone's food was really good - both appetizers and entrées. Not really much else to say...good food, good service, nice atmosphere (not too loud and not too stuffy). I am usually hard to please when it comes to these things - I was very pleased with my choice....and so was everyone else.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a lovely Mother's DayHad a lovely Mother's Day dinner. Food was very good. Friendly service. Will go back. Neighborhood find.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding FoodFour of us dined here May 9, 2013. Three had duck breast and one had merluza. The duck breast was superb. It was perfectly seasoned and prepared. The merluza was ordered as part of a3course prize fixe and accompanied by wine selections from the sommelier. The fish was perfectly done and served over a bed of peas and puree. The wines were very well chosen to enhance the food. This was an excellent dining experience.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining experience.I simply chose this restaurant because it had availability for a last minute reservation on Friday night and it "looked nice"... I'm glad I did. Great food, tasty drinks and chic décor.
Make sure you order the mushroom soup, it's amazing! The duck and chicken are great choices as well.
The staff is friendly... I would love to come back!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAll around greatFood was fantastic. Very well priced. Nice drink list. Friendly staff. Food came out quickly. No complaints.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLike HoneyLove Apiary. This was my third visit, and it was a great dining experience. The food was excellent. This restaurant has a lovely, modern design and chic ambience. Its a rare New York restaurant that provides you with very comfortable seating, with tables spaced so you can actually enjoy the conversation without competing with the next table to be heard.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was outstanding!...bestThe food was outstanding!...best mushroom soup I ever had.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBest sweetbreads in town!THe best sweetbreads ever! I have not had a meal there that was not excellent.
My only complaint is that the restaurant gets VERY noisy when it is full. As a place where I take friends to "dine" rather than just eat, the noise interferes with the conversation. Needs carpeting or better sound proofing.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe thought the food excellentWe thought the food excellent and the waiter very helpful. We enjoyed our evening out4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMalways a great meal and greatalways a great meal and great service NEVER disappointed4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMApiary is absolutely deliciousApiary, on first glance, appears to be a standard above-average restaurant. However, the food is exquisite, every dish surprises you with how good it is. the ravioli appetizer is complex. the merluza is lightly crisped on the outside but flaky tender and succulent. for dessert, the apple tart is the best i've ever had. (i just wont think about how much butter must be in there.) our server was incredibly nice and helpful. i love this place so much, its my second visit in a month. my only complaint is the noise level. its closer to saturday night bar than thursday night restaurant.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA lovely dining experience.A lovely dining experience. The food and wine were excellent, the seating comfortable, the ambiance agreeable. The noise level was bordering on unpleasant as the restaurant approached peak capacity.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMonday Nights!!!We came on a Monday night to celebrate my birthday and loved the fact that you could bring your own wine. Our waiter was fabulous and the food was really great.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Chicken Ever!As a foodie, I know it's a faux pas to order chicken--- but this is the best chicken ever. It's incredibly flavorful and super delicious!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMTremendous value. Every itemTremendous value. Every item served was outstanding. I will definitely return and tell my friends.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMI will keep coming back!I have found my new neighborhood gem..and so have all my friends..we were first attracted
by the decor, beautifully appointed, and then we found out about Monday free corkage!
We started to go on Monday's and have our wine night there instead of once a month at
someone's home. It was so good and such a pleasant experience we now go "not on Monday's". I have now taken my colleagues from work and friends from the neighborhood.
I don't mind sharing such a find..the service is always friendly, professional etc.
And Wine Night..they could not be nicer..I don't know what more I can say except I will
keep going and bringing my friends..its not often you can go to a restaurant and know that it will be good whenever the visit.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food and great service.Had dinner for four on a busy Saturday. Food was very well prepared and presented. We had the Duck and organic chicken. Service was great. Not a lot of entree choices. Would have been nice to have 2 or 3 entree specials. Reasonably priced as well for the quality that you are getting.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, nice presentationGreat food, nice presentation and good drinks. A++4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceGreat experience as always. The most properly cooked duck breast I have had in NYC. Chef Bryan is killin it on even on a busy Friday rush. Eat here its great!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMApiary is a tremendous find.Apiary is a tremendous find. The food is ambitious and delicious. My friends had the salmon, which they said was superb; I had the rabbit ragu over pappardelle. The rabbit was generous and well-seasoned. For appetizers my friend had the octopus, which she loved, and we had the simple salad--the freshness of the greens was notable in a town with really good produce. I was impressed by the wine list; in particular, the wines by the glass included a Bergerac, a really nice French wine that's not so easy to find in New York. The space is unpretentious, but nice. Go!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat value, excellent food...Went on a monday "no corkage fee" night which enhances the experience since one can bring a wine that might not be affordable on a list. The food here is creative and solidly done. Fish dishes are excellent (I had bass). The duck and chicken are also excellent. My only complaint is that the menu does not change much if at all. Been the same for about 9 months and there are not a lot of specials (at least on mondays)4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent restaurantThis is one of our favorite restaurants in the city. The food is absolutely delicious and the service outstanding. We have been to Apiary several times and it never fails to amaze us. The duck was perfectly cooked and so delicious. We shared appetizers and loved the sweetbreads and grilled octopus and of course dessert was so yummy. We had the apple tart which was a soft flaky pastry, apple (a little too sweet) and ice cream. My husband's salmon was also perfectly cooked and delicious. Definitely a winning restaurant3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been t this restaurantI've been t this restaurant and love their very eclectic menu.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMalmost the bee's kneesNice place, nice design, food all edible if not a particular stand out. Cocktails are Manhattan worthy, help seemed a bit rushed, but still polite even as we were 2nd to last to leave the restaurant.
Over all, thumbs up, if not quite yet a foodies-paradise in this competitive NYC market.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFab food, but too noisy.Love this restaurant, but it needs serious sound-proofing. At times the noise level was positively painful. Vie eaten there on weekday evenings, avid even with the place half full, the noise is distressing. One goes there to dine and appreciate the food, and the noise makes that difficult.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat better place to meetWhat better place to meet and dine with two kids that live in the city - Apiary. Celebrated two birthdays, brought fabulous wines for BYO Monday. Could not have been better.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinner; really enjoyedGreat dinner; really enjoyed the cheese plate and everyone at our table loved their entrees. Will definitely return.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently delicious food.Consistently delicious food. Almost a perfect experience. The lighting it a tad bright but that's my only complaint, and it's a pretty minor one. It's become a standby for taking out of town company to give them an amazing meal.3/2/2013 12:00:00 AMApiary was a great spotThe food was delicious! Rabbit parpadelle and duck were incredible!2/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWent here for dinner RestaurantWent here for dinner Restaurant Week. Had the baby romaine salad (good), confit of duck leg (good), and the blackberry financier (outstanding). Service was good and the place looked nice.1/22/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique Cuisine - Great TimeThis restaurant is terrific. Great service, excellent food and a real scene.
