Diner Reviews
  • "Service was terrible. Waiter took 15 minutes to find first bottle of wine. Came back to tell me they didn't have it. Took 15 more minutes to try to find 2nd bottle. The proceeded to tell me that they only socialize in "high end" wines, so they couldn't locate my $70 Beaujolais that I was ordering for lunch."

  • "We have been to Apex for years since it opened. Our first year, 3 years ago, was excellent. Since then the entire experience has gone downhill. This past time was the worst. The food is still good, but the service is lacking. We were not served bread for 45 minutes after we sat down. Our kids food came before we received our salads. I actually had to comment that I was surprised that this was the case. We skipped dessert as we had already been there for 2 hours. It was not an overly crowded night either. On the way to get our car we ran into another party of 6 that had the same disappointing service (but the reason they had been there was also due to the great experience of two years ago)."

  • "Can't beat the location - slopeside. Food pricey and fine. Not exceptional which it should b given all the buzz and the price point. Do not do the buffet! Everything looked way overcooked and like buffet food that has been sitting out too long. Service very dissappointing."

  • "The food was good, as was the service, but not good enough to justify the price. I know it's the Montage and in Deer Valley, but there is not enough value in regard to the food and/or service to justify the incredibly expensive menu. To not have a glass of Cabernet less than $18, especially with the typical Utah pour, is ridiculous and the $16 "special Caesar salad" tasted like a salad that you would receive at any run of the mill restaurant. Also, I ordered a dirty martini which was incredibly watered down and served in a tiny glass. There are too many other really good restaurants in Park City to return to Apex again."

  • "Was at the Burgers and Burbon bar. Delicious choices and the fries were fabulous. Their bourbon list has over 100 items, including the famed and elusive "Pappy Van Winkle. A homerun for a casual evening in a lovely atmosphere. Service staff and bartenders are fab. Highly recommended."

  • "Food is great and portions were perfect. Service was very inattentive. We were seated immediately, then it took 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and bring water, and another 20 minutes before our cocktails showed up. Appetizers served at same time as bread, and dinner served before appetizers were completed. After dessert we had to wait awhile for the check to arrive. Maybe we were there on a bad night, but price to value/experience was not worth it on this particular evening. Manager bought a 2nd round of drinks on him which was nice."

  • "Had lunch here during busy Presidents weekend. We sat near the rear bar and the room is very pretty. The food was perfect and the manager, Martiin, was so very helpful. He is the one to seek for advice on anything related to the Montage or Deer Valley.. Thank you!"

  • "We've always enjoyed the food at the Montage and had high hopes for our first trip to Apex. The room was loud as it is directly open to the bar area which was full. Our group enjoyed the spicy tuna tartar, lobster bisque and the beet salad. All were very good. The 'signature' Caesar salad was a major disappointment. One order was sent back, one half eaten and one cancelled. Main courses were lackluster and pedestrian. They weren't poor, just a level (or two) below what one expects from the top restaurant at a Montage property."

  • "everything worked the way it should. Good food and service. The porterhouse for two was excellent. We go back every time we're in town"

  • "When I arrived at the Apex slightly late it was immediately overlooked and my date and I received a warm welcome. We had a little trouble with being directed to the restaurant area but after we found it the experience was enjoyable. The music playing in the background was very nice, and not too loud either. The salad came in good time and was great. After that I had the salmon and it was exceptionally delicious. Crème brulee was a perfect way to end the meal, the top was expertly caramelized. I also highly appreciate the fact that I never went thirsty during my experience. Overall my time was very well spent. Of course, it didn't hurt that I had such great company to enjoy it with."

  • "I've dined here many times before and had good experiences but this was a disaster. Terrible service, slow getting drinks and then when they brought the salads the server tried to serve some of the entrees at the same time. Once entrees were served one of guests didn't receive his meal until the rest of the guests were already finished eating. They didn't even have the excuse of being crowded. I was embarrassed at the host."

  • "I don't eat meat so the menu was very limited. We had gnocchi and the hand made papperdelle. Unsure how to describe as both dishes were a very strange mix of ingredients. Especially the pappardelle, it was a mix of earthy flavors as well as being sweet. Both were awful. We did have breakfast in the Apex too and the huevos rancheros were awesome. The fine dining menu though leaves a lot to be desired."

  • "My husband's vegan diet is a challenge so I called ahead about our celebration and diet. I was assured the chef could make a vegan friendly gnocchi...We arrived, were seated and 10 min. later asked for a menu and water. They apologized and brought champagne-nice! We asked about gnocchi: told it couldn't be made vegan but they could prepare something...my Branzini was sold out...My lobster was overcooked, dry and chewy. My gnocchi was falling apart with little flavor. My husband was served a cold mix of quinoa and granola (breakfast?) They did bring a plate that said Happy Anniversary with candles and truffles. That was the nicest part of the meal. Bad food, bad service. Disappointing! Still had a beautiful evening with my love!!"

  • "Apparently my expectations were too high. The food was ok, filet mignon was excellent as were the root vegetables but came with a tacky side 'log' of au gratin potatoes that was less than appetizing. Our mushroom pappardelle was subpar and did not obtain a well rounded flavor, nor was the pasta fresh. Sorry, but if I am paying $34 for pasta + $18 for truffles, then you should probably have a good chef on staff with an excellent recipe and consider making fresh pasta. I will take my business elsewhere. Also, your guests are planning a nice meal, no expense spared. Don't treat us like we don't have money to pay for our dinner! So many other options in town. We will not be back."

  • "the montage is a spectacular property, as you drive up it feels as though you are entering a fancy fairyland. the hotel staff were friendly and helpful to a person. the waiter greeted us immediately and had actually read the note about my daughters nut allergy from the reservation i made via open table. the dining room is gorgeous ski lodge-meets-urban luxe. the filet mignon my in-laws ordered was delicious, the signature caesar salad was excellent, but, sadly, my pasta dish was weirdly sweet and yet flavorless. nevertheless, the service was flawless and we enjoyed our experience thoroughly."

  • "Great meal. Missed the halibut by days so had trout instead. Prepared perfectly. Beautiful venue -- great service. Wish we could have stayed longer."

  • "What amity that such a beautiful hotel " Montage" had such a mediocre restaurant. Our recent meal there was so dreadful it was almost inedible. My recommendation is stay at the Montage by all means it is an excellent hotel but eat elsewhere. There are several excellent restaurants a 5 to 10 minute drive away. Probably the best is the Goldener Hirsch but there are several others."

  • "We were with a group of 6 and were thrilled to be able to experience a nice meal at the Montage. The first course came and 5 out of 6 ordered the fall soup appetizer. It was hot water with 2 small squash tortellini. NOT the quality of food we expected! The next course was braised short ribs, which was great. The other choice was trout, those who ordered this was not impressed. The dessert choices were both very good. THERE WAS NO WOW FACTER, WE WERE SHOCKED AT THE LACK LUSTER QUALITY OF THE FOOD AND THE VERY POOR SERVICE."
